After pollenation occurs-does the plant

Hi,
I am sure this has been asked/answered somewhere on the site before but I want to ask it again so as to cover some new ground.

If you pollenate a few flowers to make some seed does this signal to the plant that "it has been seeded and no further flowers are required?" or does it just make a few seeds but keeps on flowering? i know a seeded plant will devote a lot of energy to making seeds but what if only 20 or 30 seeds on the plant?

you hear people talking about pollen like it was the plague in a grow room...i know sinsemellia is seedles but i did not hink a few seeds would make a whole plant stop flowering...

thanks

the plant does not stop making buds

BUT
the energy that was being sent to the bud and resin production is dramtically cut down, and more goes to the production of seeds

Most people, myself included, want straight bud no seeds, that is why it is talked about so poorly

But it is the natural path of nature for the plant

It is really no different than human desire to eat chicken eggs without little chickens inside

dog,
thanks for the feedback...i have a maroc x afghani and a O*Thai x Haze x Skunk #1 in about week 5 of flowering and they look pathetic as far as blooming...i have some white widow right next to them and it is blooming far more profusely than the ones I just mentioned...i thought it was just the few seeds I was making...i can see some new growth at the tips but it almost looks vegetative and not blooms...i do not think any light is getting in...i did have the lights out of sync for a few days and probaly got more than 12 hours...the buds are stretching a lot right now but they would have to really take off to finish in 8 weeks for the maroc x afghani...the O*Thai x Haze X Skunk is not due for 7 or 8 more weeks..

Once I get a bunch of seeds made I am like you...sinse only!

hope to see you around again..

Hi

Dr Dog is spot on

I have had harvests that have been partially seeded accidently and still harvested great yields, sometimes only loosing 10 - 20% expected harvest

I have also run harvests for seeds and pollinated with many males - still getting a reasonable amount of bud - 40 - 50% of the expected non seeded yield

Both times once pollinated the plants continued to product bud however as Dr Dog stated, they put more energy into seeds

This bud had about 20 seeds in it, got over 150 from the plant in total but it still yielded good

And in the last week of flower - notice, even tho seeded it is still a good sized bud

This does seem to increase resin production and speed up finishing time however. so the trim always seems to make great bubble from seeded harvests

A ioniser will help in future as it picks up a lot of stray pollen out of the air and costs only about £40 for a decent one. Great for breeding rooms as it avoids cross pollination

Hope this helps
