Advice when renting a house and growing

Never had a nosey land lord but some places will cut corners for the sake of simplicity. Caught a handyman breaking into my house last year trying to do routine maintenance just so he didn't have to come back later. Unannounced showings of your house for sale or new tenant. Granted this was in a college town where 2 poorly run rental agencies control all the property.

Slumlords make great grow house landlords. Pay your rent in advance every month and never bother him for anything. He will love you and appreciate not having to get off his lazy ass to fix anything. You never hear from slum lords unless rent is late.

The State I am in is cracking down on landlords and growers. They are threatening landlords and telling them if their tenants are caught growing in the house they will lose their property. Now the landlords are hiring a company that specializes in finding out if the tenant has a grow. One pointer I can give is to go through an agency and find a home that has an owner who owns the home outright and lives out of state. A gated community is good too.
