Advice on a package

Got a friend who had a package sent to him.. it got there in 2 days he said, and it said it was delivered 11am this morning according to his tracking. it was a USPS package priority, so they dont have exact address tracking. It was delivery confirmation, not signature.

He lives in an apartment complex...He said nobody is hunched down in cars trying to watch his side of the complex or nothing.. nobody has contacted him about it or anything. So we don't think it's the cops fully, but never know.

Maybe the mailman was too lazy to deliver it so he just dropped it off at the office and said 'they weren't at home'. However, nobody from the office has contacted him. So maybe the mailman claimed he put a notice on the door to have them pick it up at the office, but in reality he was too lazy.. so the office is assuming the dude is gonna pick it up..

The guy was home all day.. there was no drop off near his door.. so it's either in the office, someone stole it, or the cops are trying to get him to bait the package.

btw, it's nothing too big in the package, but enough to worry.

So what should he do? Call the complex and ask if they got it or is that the cops trying bait him?

I'm not involved. This is a person i trust greatly and they have no reason to lie. This person is not currently growing or selling.

got a side door? had a buddy "expecting" once, waited till it was 4 days late. called UPS, & driver said he left it against door. sure as hell, there it sat at his side door, not front door. :booked:

I'd leave it alone. If it wasn't big, no big lost right?

Play dumb - inquire about package, but only don't let on he knows what's in it.

Friend said he sent some vid games - how are you to know it had "special" content???

Plausible deniability...

See if Superintendent smells like weed - or has glassy eyes, and carrying bag of Doritos...

In a larger apartment complex usps and or fed ex/ups leave all boxes at front office. To much time to deliver individually. Same with mailboxes being located near said office.

Good luck

I lived in a big ass complex during my graduate program a couple years ago.

They either left it by door or at the group mailboxes (where they're all together).

I had packages that were delivered to the wrong place cause the guy had the wrong building - people were nice enough to return em though.

USPS, if it's ur "regular" guy usually knows the addys pretty well. When something of mine went missing I'd wait for him the next day and confront him ,and he always told me what was up. Sometimes he said he just made a mistake.

names, sources of state, heavily vaccumed sealed... everything was perfect on the whole 'profile' packages that they use to spot suspicious packages... so it's very hard to believe that the cops were on to anything.

So logic tells me next that it was either delivered at the wrong place and that person is either high as fuck or threw it away.. or returned it to the office complex... or the mailman dropped it off there.

He's fairly new in the complex and was told packages usually are delivered to their door.

THe one thing that puzzles me is why hasn't the complex contacted them to come get the package unless they are assuming he should come get it himself.. in that case would do something liek classy@home said.

I thought you meant it never left the post "office". If its just the apartment complex office I would go inquire about it.

The few times I got stuff delivered and they left it at the office, they only called me if it was big and heavy, like the time I ordered a weight bench and set via Fedex.

Other times they did not contact me. It only happened like 4 times in 2.5 years, but I usually was never contacted either . . .

UPDATE... got off the phone with my friend!

He checked his regular mailbox @ his complex just now and inside it, he found a green slip from the USPS that said, your item was too large to fit in your mailbox and to go to the apartment manager.

So much for 'they deliver packages at your door' ....

If your mailers took care of the "stink" on their end (ie. vacuum bags) you're probably OK.

Do you know the shipper's method?

yup, i've ordered stuff online before and they left it in the office. besides usually when police get it, they will actually try to deliver it to the apartment.
