Hey guys, MMZRetro Here with my first experiment. Iv been wondering about advanced nutrients for a long time, there advertising and marketing got my attention, from seeing them on the show “Weeds” to being all over the Hydroponics industry. So after finding out some information about their product and pretty much how they break everything down so you end up using 3 things to make up one, if that makes any sense. After talking on the phone with the advanced guys over in Canada determining what I would need for a complete cycle, (thanx TM) you know who you are. A week later the complete organic lineup showed up at the doorstep. So let me get down to it, what I wanted to figure out is, is the advanced nutrients all cracked up to be, is it worth how expensive it is.
The advanced line up consists of
Organic B
Piranha
Tarantula
Humic Acid
Voodoo
Iguana Grow
Iguana Bloom
Mother Earth Super Tea Grow
Mother Earth Super Tea Bloom
Big Bud
Sweet leaf
Emerald Shaman
With a total Cost of around 400 dollars
(Not showing Emerald Shamon, Organic B, Mother Earth Super Tea Grow
Since I am familiar with the Botanicare Line up and have had very successful Results with it, I’ve decided to do a side by side cycle of Bontanicare Vs Advanced.
The Botanicare line up consisted of
Liquid Karma
Pro Series Grow
Pro Series Bloom – Soil version
Sweet Citrus
Blast Off
With a total cost of around 150-200 dollars
Now for the good stuff. With this project I have decided on these genetics
Northern Lights
Super Skunk
The ?
Soma’s NYCD
½ of all cuttings were done in treated rock wool, using Olivia’s cloning solution and bcuzz root.
Other ½ of all cuttings were done in groclone using spring water.
All cuttings approximately 13” when put into flowing
Each batch of nutrients of both brands resulted in the same PH and required the same amount of PH up to result in app 6.2PH.
Daytime Temperature – 76f
Nighttime Temperature – 60f
Humidity at 50%
6 cuts of each, which adds up to 24 cuts each side with a total of 48 cuts
This project is done in soil, with 2 1000 watt HPS on 2 light different light rails
With co2 on a 20LB tank and regulator
Ocean Forest Soil by Fox Farm
Promix
Perlite
Pro Series Vegative Grow
Veg for 2 weeks in 1 quart pots with a mixture of Promix, ocean forest, and perlite under 80 watts worth fluorescents 2 inches over the tops. Using a nutrient schedule of, 15ml of Pro Grow per gallon
15ml of liquid karma per gallon.
After 2 weeks repotted into 3 gal containers with a mixture of (1 part ocean forest, and 1 part perlite, on the bottom of the pot) and 1 part promix.
3 scoops of promix on top, with 30ml of pro grow, and 10 ml of liquid karma, and decided to add a little secret ingredient of ¾ tsp Bcuzz Root. Now Flowing
During the weeks of flowing the nutrient schedule consisted of alternate watering.
A: 30ml of bloom (soil)
10ml of Liquid Karma
10ml of sweet citrus
B: 30ml bloom (soil)
10ml of Liquid Karma
10ml of Blast off
Watering was approximately ½ gallon per pot every 3 days
Water supply is well water with a ph of 6.3
Advanced Nutrients
Veg for 2 weeks in 1 quart pots with a mixture of Promix, ocean forest, and perlite under 80 watts worth fluorescents 2 inches over the tops. Using a nutrient schedule of
15ml of Iguana grow
30ml of voodoo juice
15ml of organic B
½ tsp of piranha
1tsp of tarantula
After 2 weeks repotted into 3 gal containers with a mixture of (1 part ocean forest, and 1 part perlite, on the bottom of the pot) and 1 part promix.
3 scoops of promix on top.
30ml of iguana grow
5ml of super tea grow
7.5ml of sweet leaf
30ml of voodoo juice
At onset of flowering I did.
15ml of Iguana bloom
5ml of super tea bloom
7.5ml of sweet leaf
30ml of voodoo juice
After a couple weeks I did alternate watering of
A: 15ml of iguana bloom
7.5ml of super tea bloom
15ml of organic B
15ml of sweet leaf
B: 15ml of iguana bloom
7.5ml of super tea bloom
20ml of big bud
Each week I sprayed them with Emerald Shaman for the 1st 3 weeks of flowing
They are currently in their 4th week of flowing and both sides are looking great, the only thing that I’ve been noticing that I’m not likening is there is a moldy film on the top of the soil of the Advanced side; I think that’s why they tell you to wait until they are bone dry before the next watering. I’ve been scraping the moldiness off (only like 1\4 of an inch) and adding promix on top, other than that the advanced side does look a little prettier, more triochromes. The Botanicare side has such a wonderful smell to it, does look very pretty as well. So far its prolly gonna end up in a blind taste test and yield wise.
Pictures will come Tonight.
