Adding rooting hormones to water

O I get it now,I'm just so used to taking cuts from my plants the day they go 12/12 and not keeping moms that I couldn't wrap my brain around it lol.Since I dont keep moms I'm probably not the best advisor in this case.I think I'd take cuts when the plants are about 30 days into 12/12.Lets see about 10 days to root cuts and plant in soil, then veg for about 20 days and by the time you harvest your flowering plants the vegging plants should be ready to go in.I'd get other advice on this though because like I said,I dont keep moms

I just used Clonex Gel for the first time last night. Found it to be much more of a liquid then Olivia's Gel.

I soaked Oasis cubes in Olivia's solution Then dipped in clones gel. rolled in rooting powder. Put in cube. Misted dome. close up leave for about a week.
I am a newbie, but this is how I was told to do it & how my buddy has gotten his for many years.

Peace, Luv & Nugs

The first time I ever attempted cloning I purchased some sort of hormone stuff the 15 year old professional suggested at the garden shop to add to something, I cant remember what..but I know it smelled like piss and it killed my clones, or maybe I did..who knows?:chin:

Just water takes a long time friend. I just use some very moist Promix in little see through dixie cups.

The key to successful cloning is environment, environment, environment!

*you will need dixie cups, a new razor knife, a Qtip, a spray bottle with H2O, and a clone dome

Prep
1)Fill the cup up with very moist medium and pat the top.

2)Take a Qtip and cut the end off, poke in the soil carefully about an inch and a half, remove straight out. You now have your little hole for your cutting.

Here is the fun part
1)I just cut of branch, (sometimes I hold the fan leaves together right after and cut the tips off in one swipe, but dont think this is required)

2)then cut a new end again at 45 degree and dip immediately in cloning gel, (has to be quick so no air buble travles up stem making cut die)

3)then gently push it into your medium, pinch soil around stem,

4)lightly mist with H2O, set in clone dome under very low light for 48 hours/24 hours a day, tempts at around 82 degrees, with a nice moist atmosphere by spraying the leaves with a mist at least 4 times a day. At day 3 increase light to flouros, but continue everything alse till you see roots! VEG AWAY!!!!

Best of Luck! :joint:

Sunset instead of just misting the dome once in the beginning, try misting it 3 or 4 times a day for the first week, you will find they root much faster. You want to keep as close to 100%RH as you can the first week,if you just mist the dome and forget it the RH will drop a lot in a couple days.I know a lot of folks root cuts this way,but keeping the dome well misted definately does cut down on rooting time because of the higher RH.I never mist the cuts directly though,I've had negative experiences with this and you want the leaves to remain dry so they will root to seek water,if they are getting water through the leaves it'll slow the process and possibly make a spinichy mess of your cuts

home made bubble cloners work great with a dome. no water on leaves. still keeping good RH. i have had great success with this, i also add a small cap full of H2O2 to help O2 levels in water and banish any bad germs/bac/rot.
after roots have formed transplant into whatever medium you want. usually 7-10 days
good luck and post some pics

Thanks for all the help folks. Let me tell you where I am at this point and ask one more question.

I have a 10 gal aquarium with hood (grow lights for this application installed) I bought the air stone and pump and that in place as well.

I am using rapid rooters (all the cutting and dipping as prescribed earlier) and sit them in a tray made for them. I place the airstone directly under the small tray (cut it to hold 12) and let it rip 22 hours on 2 off. I have to take a small piece of removable plastic off of the hood because I thought it was keeping too much heat in.

I have narrowed down my problem to the size of the plant and the cuttings when taken. due to height issues I have to keep a small mother. When I take my cuttings they are less than three inches in total length and are slightly woody in the stem.I think that woody part is what is getting me.

Does that have an effect on root growth?

I have resorted to buying 2 small vegged plants to get another strain to work with and ensure I have plants going forward (Grand Daddy Purple) that are rooted and healthy for $20 a piece. I think that was a deal. The flowering plants of this were CRAZY purple

I will get some pictures of my small space up in a bit. Someone hijacked my user name for a spell and uploaded some hydro pics that are not mine.
