Add to my plans or fix them up!

Hey all, iv'e been planning on purchasing a cabinet that i can fabricate to house anything thats vegging and a seperate flower box. I want to light the vegg area with flouros to save some space and money. I actually have everything planned out i just do not know where to add any fans or vents. Id like to run the least amount of fans. 210mm would be ideal. I also plan on mounting a vent on the backside (ac/heater vent)

Can someone tell me if i have the hood/ducting/fan/filter right? If i have the fan sucking in the hot air from the hood (with no glass) would it also suck in all the stinky air from the flower box and pass through the filter?

I dont plan on running a top shelf anymore, i can mount my stuff to the top of the box. So plerase feel free to go ahead and edit my plans to suit proper needs. Thanks! :rasta:

Hey there, Im only a noob myself, but how much more space will you have in your flowering chamber being only 42 with your hood in there? I mean, how do you plan on taming your plants with that little space? My flowering chamber has 53" and it is starting to get cramped in there and I have been LSTing my lady to try and keep her from growing into the light and burning up.... I guess it's more a question about my situation then a comment about yours.... Anyways, I like the design, it's similar to mine, but I bought a large cabinet with 2 doors with 3 chambers instead of 2. Also, I didn't see a scrubber for dealing with odor (I may have missed it as I just hit 3 fat bowls). Good luck with your cab man! :joint:

Here is a picture of my situation:

and a picture of what happens when i let it get to close to the light :spank:

Thats a good point. Maybe i will make the veg chamber a little smaller for more flowering room. Do you have pics of your cabinet from the outside?

The scrubber is on the top shelf in the plans, but really i dont know how to hook that up to the hood so i just guessed. haha.

Looks good man

Ah ok, I see the scrubber now, that should work great.

As for my cabinet, I got a big one... it is 48"wide 68"high 22"deep. It actually has 4 chambers. The top I use to store my nutes and books as I am trying to keep this stealth with children in the house. The top chamber takes up about 11" and runs the length of the cabinet. The middle of the cabinet is separated down the middle which gives me a veg chamber next to my flowering chamber. It allows me to work on my veg chamber without messing up my light cycle of my flowering plants. I can barely fit my 400wHPS with hood in there, and there is no way I could connect it to ducting so I just bought 120 CFM computer case fans and have one pulling air directly from the light out of the chamber.

It is a big cabinet, maybe too big for what you have in mind....
Anyway, back to your design! I think yours will work as long as your fan is strong, are you going to use an in-line, a centrifugal, or a squirrel cage fan?

Thanks for the pics. Your PC fan idea is good. I was planning on buying the 4" inline fan and scrubber package from HTGsupply.

The cabinet i have in mind looks just like yours but the dimensions are a bit smaller.

The cabinet is in our room, so it looks a little out of place with the rest of our furniture... the kids haven't asked why there is a fan coming out of the cabinet but I'm sure they think it's kinda funny.... Only time will tell I guess!
I am ordering a squirrel cage fan to vent exhaust my flowering chamber as it gets hot in there with the filter I have.

Are you going to do a SOG or SCROG or anything like that? I may SOG next go around, I like doing multiple strains cuz I get bored smoking the same thing for too long.

Smoke it up!

i was thinking of doing SOG this time.

Would it be safe too mount hte scrubber on top of the cabinet? I dont see why it wouldnt be?

Also, if im ducting the hot air out of the hood, would it take care of the smelly air in the rest of the cabinet?

I think it would work fine on the outside, again as long as your fan is strong enough to pull the air all the way. If not you could even use a booster fan I suppose. Heck, I would mount everything I could outside of my cab if it weren't for the kids being around..... As of now there is a fan and grey pencil cup sticking out the side of the cabinet. My ballast is mounted on top of the cab but is concealed since the cab is so tall. If i put anything else outside it would surely raise suspision.

If i decide to run a scrubber Im gonna use an inline fan. I read p on how to kill the odor using a bucket and some fabreeze lol. I was thinking of ducting the flower box to the 3gal. bucket and having it pass through and blow out fresh smelling air.

Im really trying to find a pre-built box so i dont have to build one. But everything is expensive.

quick question everyone:

If i were to connect my fans to a fan controller, then connected the controller to a PC power supply, would that work? Seems cleaner than having a bunch of fans wired up to DC adapters taking up outlet space.

hmmm

hmmm

That is a good question, I was considering doing that myself but the power supply i had playing around didn't work.... I don't see why it would not work, but I have no experience getting it to actually work, lol. Hopefully one of the pro's here can give you better input. Good luck!

you definitly need a good vent for that setup i would go with systemair rvk series something like 450m3/h because when you aply the scrubber you will lose a lot on airflow.
better always to get stronger vent and a regulator if you ask me :D
