Fellow organic growers,
As I need to change my filter, I'm looking to a more environment friendly solution.
How about a refillable filter and using old charcoal to make biochar?

Hello,
You are into tropical fish or some type of aquarium that uses activated carbon as part of the filter element ?
Some filters are easily refillable, they used to make one that used cotton and loose carbon,
Id say awesome and its already pre charged with fish waste.

What id eally like to see is your grow results with and without it and how much works best what %
Your waste water from tank changes maybe worth using also

🪑 🍿 im along for the thread :huggg:

Lots of great info!! thanks a lot ;)!

I'm talking about air filter.. would have been awesome if it was from an aquarium.

I definitly don't have the ressources to make a comparison grow. I am low scale ''artisan'' grower growing from seeds in one or two 4x4. I only grow for myself. But yeah, two separate room with clones comparaison would be nice!

It's not that I'm not happy with my results, more like I look at the filter I bought from Amazon witch comes with a decent carbon footprint already, then I trash it to buy another oner again making no sense, while in the same time other growers would spend money to order biochar from amazon to improve their soil. Hey! I can always make my soil better too!!

Been growing my cannabis organically for 5-6 years, I have my own worm bins and with the little volume I have, idea was to put the charcoal in worm trays. I run WF360 and by the time castings gets collected they spent at last 7-8 months. (buying a filter now will not gave me biochar in over a year but absolutely not in a hurry).

Well noted for the carbon compaction when refilling the filter, and for the difference between fisthank and air!
