ACE Malawi Phenotype Reports

My ace seeds "Malawi" experience was best with it's hybrids, in my opinion.
Panama x malawi has many malawi phenos, with better vigor and terps, same is true for Golden tiger (thai x malawi) but slightly more sativa. I bred using a malawi phenotype from Golden tiger and it produced some consistently reproducible phenotypes I enjoy, I made f2's of 4 of them. I have all the effects I wanted from the golden tiger,

1. Shroomy malawi- smells like leather and meat/cabbage and black pepper: slow creeper, if you don't smoke enough, you don't get the full psychedelic effect, a threshold must be met, but because of how it creeps, you can easily keep walking off that cliff like wiley coyote and get way too high. Strong visual differences, "technicolor" makes colors pop. "Malawi gold" phenotype

2. Haribo/ fruity malawi/silver malawi phenotype: has a more immediate upbeat stimulating "drug" dopamine fix effect. Kills cravings fast, I mean, wake and bake and you can fast 3 hours before feeling hungry kinda effect, through the first 1.5 hours then it tapers to an eased state. I have never "crashed" on this phenotype, it is damn near impossible to overindulge, smoke enough and I put it down and go jog a few miles. No paranoia despite how stimulating it is. smells like Mango, Pineapple, Kiwi, Cherry, sweet Green Tea, carrot and candy lemon, this is the "haribo/silver malawi"phenotype. I suspect high thcv and some cbg.

3.Carrot soda- like ginger Beer with carrot juice mixed in, sounds weird, tasted amazing. Very "dense" malawi phenotype, hashplant pheno. Feels like a mix of phenotype 1 and 2, more tame in effect than #1 and #2 but more approachable if you want couchlock, or if you're a few minutes from bed. Has the stupifying, dissociative psychedelic effects, from #1 mixed with the happy go lucky silly grin dopamine effects from #2. Smoke too much and you can wind up couchlocked like with #1.

4. Mango armpit/rotten cabbage: very similar to #3 but more potent, lower yield. Smells like "baby shit" when smoked, rotted cabbage and unripe bitter mangoes. 2hr effect duration. Tastes like mangoes, green onion, carrot, Brussel sprouts. Very earthy/savory.

Now this is what I meant by pheno reporting! Amazing job my good sir, my previous experience sounds a lot like a mix 1-2. Was your batch from regular or feminized seeds?

EDITED FOR SPELLING

I grew out 5 regular Malawi from a breeders pack.

I had one male and 4 females.

I had 3 distinct phenotypes between the females.

1. The first was what I would expect based off Ace's description. It smelled of wood, carrot, and earth. Not earthy like a kush but some type of wild soil scent.

2. Fruity Pheno. This one is listed on Ace's website and I will say its very enjoyable. I am not good at describing fruit smells I would say its tropical and floral, not citrusy like an orange, lemon, or lime. This one has a strong induction of euphoria. As I would smoke it I would have thoughts of "wow what a great day".... very optimistic headspace.

3. The third pheno I found was not like anything listed on the Ace website. The only way to describe it would be 'male cat pheromones'. A decade plus ago my buddies cat marked his territory all over my university textbooks and I had to study for exams reading the books covered in the spray. It was foul and I will never forget how terrible it smelled. This pheno smelled exactly like it. It calmed down and added a little hint of fruit at the end of the grow.

They all had very similar structure.

the fruity pheno was dark purple. The other two phenos were green.

I think part of the confusion is Ace's wording about the power of Malawi on it's site. They overstate the psychoactivity of the strain. It's good cannabis but its not psychoactive.

If you want a rip off the top of your head, psychadelic, intense, brain melting, then grow Ace's Panama. It's on a whole other level.

As to if it has indica bread in... honestly I don't know. The only other African strain I've grown is Swazi Red bagseed when I was getting things imported from Swaziland directly. I did have some phenos that could be described as 'couchlock' so I am not sure if that is indicative of hybridization.

Great report mate! That’s exactly what this thread was looking for.
