For the Purple Old Timer's Haze x Meao Thai discussions, please start at page 11. 2010/2011 Old Timers Haze and Bangi Haze discussions from pages 1-10.

I will begin a new thread to document my newest grow. I have 3 of 3 Bangi Haze sprouted.

Bangi Haze

One of the 3 has a slight deformity. 3 cotyledon leaves followed by 3 leaves in first set. We will see if this continues into veg.

3 leaf BH

Also, I will be running Old Timers Haze. Unfortunately only 1 of the first five seeds started has sprouted after 6 days. I will start the remaining 6 seeds in hopes I can get at least 3 more sprouts.

Lonely OTH

As the viewers on this site are mostly sativa fans, I will also include this lone Senor Garcia (Oregon Purple Thai x Panama Red) to keep the OTH company. I dropped another couplke of these seeds as well in case I do no better on the OTH germination.

Hey! Good Luck with the Grow!

Especially with the OT Haze. I get tired just thinking about growing her.

OT Haze is one of those plants that asks a bit more of a grower. I find that it feels more like a long term relationship than a simple grow!

All the best, I will be watching.

Thanks GM. So far, the OTH has proved herself a worthy adversary. Only 1 of the first five sprouted. I have 5 more in the drink for the past 24 hours. Hope I can get a few more to sprout. The one that has come up is racing for the lights already and is definitely the tallest of her class.

The Bangi Hazes are off to a fine start. The three leaf 'clover' Bangi is intriguing. In addition, one of the other Bangi Hazes has a rather purplish stem. Interesting for sure...

Trifoliates are pretty common...many say they usually end up being a male...I had one once, but that was in my early days of Cannabis killing...before I got my over watering problem solved...unfortunately, my trifoliate died at a young and tender age.

Good luck...

Hi UHN,

If your Trifoliate seedling becomes a Trifoliate Female, would be awesome! I should have some nice Triploid pics soon, also. 50% more bud sites:dance013:!!
My 'secret' to really good germ rates and healthy Sativa seedlings is planting dry seeds into a medium to light, quality sterile potting soil. Then watering with freshly collected Rain Water. Rain Water is like Natures Mothers Milk. Everything in my garden, from flower to vegetable to fruit tree, jumps to attention when Rain is on the Menu:)! Then keep in a Very Warm place for 13-14 hours a day. Warmth on top of the soil, not just the bottom of container. Mid 80sF minimum. Should see growth in under 10 days. I get 100% with Ace stock regularly. Just my .02

Good Luck!

You are right about the long-term relationship! Even for one grow is a long term one, but it goes far beyond that (at least it did for me).
But i don't agree completely in that they ask more of the grower...they only ask for pacha (earth) and sun! I mean if you grow them in a nice spot with nice climate they'll do great on their own, and don't ask much. They ask for water and patience only! And of course love, wich they are very glad to give back as well.

UHN, great to see those babies starting! I've been told by breeder friend Atreyu that when you defreeze seeds, is better to wait four days until germinating them, so they acclimatize first. Then, they should have great conditions to germ after the cold as it happens in nature, when seeds sprout in spring after the cold winter has passed. But they won't germinate if you water them immediately after taking out of the freezer.
Recently i've germed some Trainwreck x Ak47 seeds i made in 2005, wich Atreyu had stored in his freezer for five years, i did as he told me and 3/3 germed as if they were fresh seeds!

Good luck with the babies!

ibjamming,

Thanks for your reply, I will keep close tabs on trifoliate. Male = pollen for the stable, if it shall be.

GreenMind, I like your ideas with rain, but this time of year in my parts, where does one find it? I could leave my cup for the next 4 months without much as a single drop...

gkn, I feel we are becoming kindred spirit. I will put your ideas to test with thaw cycle the next go around. Unfortunately, all 5 additional OTH appear to be duds based on my methods. I got a few tails, but they don't seem to grow out of their shells. I believe this pack was subjected to unfavorable condition sometime in transit. Or old, as many of my 3+ year seeds also were difficult to sprout. 1 of 10 is better than none. Male or female, I will grow it proudly and keep you all posted to progress. Ace will be my first order when new OTH arrives.

Bacchus,

Thanks for the kind words. I love your drink, especially in Pacific North West. Viva Pinot Noir!

All,

I am blessed, even with the recent less than ideal germination. I have ability to grow these fine seeds with help form many brothers (and sisters) on this site. I have 5 beautiful sativa plants (1 OTH, 3 Bangi, 1 Senor Garcia) that will be wonderful to watch grow. The reality is I have space outdoors for only two nice females and from these 5, I should find that balance.

In the meantime, I will keep myself occupied with Sativa dom crosses filling my jars...

Enjoy until next update, my smoking pleasure...

These are fine Sativa Dom samples still curing. I will sample and report to you, my friends very soon.

Regards,

GKN,

JAJA! Its true, she is like the first love AND the last one still standing when all the Fast Harlots are already up and left... Its easy to forget her sometimes, with faster variety going around:joint:. If I remember right, she went over 7 months for me last year. For now, I think I'll stick to the crosses.

Wow U.H.N. you've got som really amazing Gene's there!!!
Senor Garcia!! I'm excited to hear that's still around I thought it might've vanished from the planet...
stay true with your sativa's!!! I've been smoking for years in BC and Rarely do I ever come across the pure sativa... that's the reason why I'm on this site these days, it's the only place I find any sativa, other than the odd hybrid in Van.
So I say to you :thank you: for growing out what most growers wont, due to there unexperienced nature to sativa and the quick ease of a indica commercial crop.
I can't wait for an update on your senor garcia's!
What a interesting hybrid!!!

TheSg,

Thanks for your comments. I have just uploaded newest pics from these lovely sativas. The Senor Garcia is a strain I have been trying to grow for a number of years. Problem is, they never germed well, so I only could get one or two at a go and they have always been males. I've yet to find one female survivor. Very sensitive to nutes.

I planted 4 this go around and it looks as if only the one will make it. I believe I have just a few more seeds left.

Here (she) is today

Senor Garcia

I did keep pollen from the best male Senor G (IMO). Tall, lanky purple hollow stems. Here's a female from a cross with Mod's Kali Most.

Same hollow Purple Stem in the Kali-G as in the Senor G. Small yield on a 100 day plant. Wispy frosty buds that REEK of cat piss. Extremely strong odored if you jostle the buds. Proper smoke report pending long sativa cure.

Here's a few females from a cross with Sour Diesel IBL

The one on the left looks to be the star. I still have yet to test smoke either one of these. Full documentation is on Reservoir Seeds site.

So, it appears the Senor G genetics have promise. Just wish I could get a female for once.

Cheers,

As the stars of the show are Ace genetics, thought I would prepare picture updates today as well.

Here is the OTH plant stretching (her) legs.

OTH #1

Looks to be nice and healthy, root tips already at bottom of beer cup. Sorry, though, this will be start of bondage training to keep size manageable early on.

I really could not stomach the fact that only 1 OTH was going to be grown this time around, especially after all anticipation. After days of small white tipped seeds sitting in soil with no sprout, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I went poking around and found several seeds had no additional root advancement and were turning brown (Ugh). In two cups, though, I found white tips but still no or very little growth and shells still firmly secured around embryo. Like any good Father would, I performed emergency C-Section to free the seeds. And so...

OTH #2. This one had a very little root growth after many days, but better than all others. I have nurtured over several days introducing small amount of light to green up and produce energy. Looks like it may make it. Happy Happy.

I also have another though root structure is almost non existent, cotyledon leaves show slight green. Not out of the woods by any stretch, but I may end up with 3 of 10 which is 200% better than my original 1. This would give strong chance for at least one male and one female. I will keep vigilant watch over these two in hopes they will join their family soon.

OTH #3

Not to be neglected, all three Bangi Hazes are doing quite well. Group shot as they all love each other.

Here's an update another week into this grow. One of the two OTH seed salvaged plants has survived. The other one never grew more than a few centimeter tap root and couldn't sustain. Oh well, I've managed only two from this pack, but I'm sure they will keep me busy. Here are the OTH's.

Little one has some catching up to do, but she will get there...

Here are the Bangi Hazes

Trifoliate looking good...

Finally, a quick pic of the Senor Garcia. Slow grower with a bit of leaf deformity. Seems to grow a bit better than some I've done in the past.

Salut!

hehe.

females are great, but it might be kinda cool if that 1 Haze plant turned out to be a male. Then you could hit the Senor Garcia with the OT Haze pollen. Make a few Hundred OT Haze x Senor Garcia seeds, and Throw some up for Auction!

Hell, if they Germ Good, I'd bid on some!

2-COOH. Thanks and thanks for stopping by. Should be an interesting journey.

GreenMind,

From these genetics, every male will be inspected for possible cross. As I have stated in other posts, the crosses I made with the best Senor Garcia Male I grew seem to be very interesting indeed (cross to Sour Diesel IBL and Kali-Most (sorry not Mod Bx. That was a cross to Sour Diesel with mixed results)). I've still not done formal smoke tests, but you will start to see them pop up in smoke reports soon enough. And if I get a m/f OTH, great, more seeds for future.

Quick update (sorry no pics - more soon)

Fed the little ones a very light dose of organic nutrients (except for the Senor Garcia = hates any nutes). The Bangi's seem to love it. The big OTH seems to think it is too much with new leaf forming claws. Oops. Flushed. Don't think it too severe. Just need to respect its light appetite. Also been LST (bondage) of OTH to keep it with the rest of the pack. This may have something to do with its general agitation. Smaller OTH making progress. Very little root development still, but it is throwing its next set of leaves, so that is good.

Disregard what I said earlier about Senor Garcia growing better than before. Stunted curled leaf galore. She's a fighter but will be a long haul. Think I pop the last two seeds and hope to get a m/f so I can cross this one and move on.

Regards,
