I also want to share my vegetative area with you:biggrin:

~80 plants under the 100watt cdm

they dont grow tight like fluoros with 840/865, but they grow fast.
fuckin fast.
this is what you want when needing cuttings, dont want super tight nodes without any stem to stick to the plugs.

this picture is 2 weeks earlier (13.12./26.12.)

i LOVE veg:biggrin:

This thread never ceases to amaze me :tiphat:

Just wondered if you've ever seen or used rootrainers? I just started a load of seeds in the 12cm deep version that have a capacity of 175ml but they also do a Maxi version that is 350ml per cell. Apparently they air-prune the roots as they reach the bottom encouraging a thicker root ball. They come in books of 4 cells that you can open really easily to check the roots. They worked pretty well for me but it'd be cool to see a micro-sog in the 350ml version. Forty 20cm deep cells in 43cm x 26cm area, not sure if that's realistic or asking for an unruly jungle? Just a stoned idea I had anyway...

here's a pic, 3 of these belong to some bangi haze seedlings at the point I decided to transplant them, maybe 6 weeks old, hardly the best conditions till now but a nice example of how the roots develop in these things. Notice the one on far left creeping next door, taking advantage of my having not closed the book properly at some point:

yes, they're great to transplant when the roots are well developed like the 3 bangi haze there. A bit more difficult if they haven't filled the cells fully, though I did come up with a method to get the rootball/soil out of the cell in one piece using a disposable plastic cup. Hard to explain easily here without pictures, but just ask me if you need to know.

To buy them just google rootrainers, there are a few manufacturers like Haxnicks and Ronaash and they're available from a fair few suppliers in the uk. I'm not sure about anywwhere else. I'd just pick the seller with the best shipping deal. Also you'll find them on ebay.

In general you'll only find the rapid (8cm) or deep (12cm) versions. I emailed one of the manufacturers about buying the maxi version but no reply yet. I did see them for sale on a Dutch horticulture site though, €25 for a kit, if I remember well. Good luck. TEC.

hey those look intresting for sure, thanks for sharing!
didnt know those that open by half, thats very handy.

imo this airpruning will happen in any kind of pot when the lower area is well aerated enough.

like this, ~240ml jogi cup

or those

the density you mentioned above is not impossible to flower but will require very small cuttings and i would use even less media for each one to restrict them in width development.

something like this maybe, 50 ml
