The positive, energetic and clear effect is what i was mainly looking for in this mostly african sativa poly hybrid. Glad you found the effect more complex and with even better sativa qualities than pure Honduras. That's a really good sign based on your previous positive experience with pure Honduras ;)

Thanks Dubi. Its very energetic and quite clear but way less terrifying than I was expecting. The effects were so clear/energetic/giggly that we made a gravity bong and pushed the limits a bit. Everyone who tried it was laughing, loud, generally ridiculous and noting the minor psychedelic effects and electric body buzz for a few hours.

All of the Zamaldelica x Ethiopians are still flowering - I only took down sample branches to see how each plant was developing / smokes. I expect that the taller, spindly plant will be closer to 15 weeks before they finish, probably 13-14 for the other two. Ill report back on the final smoke when they come down, but I want to give them a chance to finish throwing hairs.

May i inquire why they curl on the fans like that? Is it a direct result of natural dieoff? Cause its kool to watch vicariously through your photos!i

The fans are curling for a number of reasons. The tallest tops of the Mauritius x Ethiopian that are up past the LEDs are curling to try and point themselves at the light sources beside/below them. All of the other curled leaves are due to over fertilization. I tend to feed all my plants till they tell me to back off and then try to maintain that line until about 10 days before harvest when I switch to water and blackstrap molasses.

The LED penetration test continues! We're now 6.5 weeks in and the 2.3m tall Mauritius x Ethiopian continues to stack without any appreciable loss of thickness to about 1m off the bulbs. I had to zip tie sticks to my previous sticks as the branches were starting to droop all over the place under their own weight. We're contained for now at least....

Zamaldelica x Ethiopian update:
The mango-citric Zamaldelica leaning plant continues stack in a very thai-zamal fashion. Its been flopping over, bending and or breaking branches from its flowers. At 13.5 weeks, it looks like it has 2-3 more, though now that the main stem has snapped, I may end up killing it before that.
picture.php

The topped Ethiopian leaning plant is more a collection of foxtails that make up big buds rather than nugs. At 12.5 weeks, its just about done (1-2 weeks left) and I cant wait for it to finish.
picture.php

The runty fruity smelling pheno will probably be done in a week as well. I haven't sampled this one and I have no idea what to expect as its growth structure isn't very thai-zamal or ethiopian looking. Its too nuggy and smells like a weird mix of either side - flintstones mango-lime-berry vitamins if that makes sense.

Terpene your descriptions of the taste and smell of your plants are amazing. Are you a sommelier? Much better than a wine review. You definitely have convinced me to try and get the ethiopian leaning Zamaldelica x Ethiopian. Been lurking for months. Great thread

Thank you for the huge compliment.

Rotten grape juice isn't my thing, beer on the other hand is my jam. My pot wallop icon is a photoshopped Victory Brewing Hop Wallop logo. For those wondering, its a decent, east coast style, piney, hop-forward india pale ale.

This plant has really evolved over the last 13 weeks of flowering. From lemon-dill pickle to mango-lemon-cream-pie is a large (and very welcome) change. Early lowers off this plant were a great time, I am really looking forward to the final effects.

14 weeks and the mango citric untopped Zamaldelica leaning pheno of Zamaldelica x Ethiopian is finished as it needs to be. Several of the stems have snapped or broken under their own weight, so I decided it was time.

Awesome buds, terpene, inspiring what you do with the leds. I gotta say, I'm having a hard time dropping the HID and trusting these to do the job, especially with stretchy plants. After your pics I'm feeling pretty reassured;)

Nice Terpene :)

Super excited about the Mauritius x Ethiopian cross as well!!
The pure Mauritius is super tropical, she is even wilder/more untamed for indoor growing than Oldtimer's Haze (!!), so it's nice to see the Mauritius x Ethiopian cross producing nice results indoors, sure she will take her sweet time to fully mature, but seems the ethiopian is helping in this regard. The flowering time of the Mauritius x Ethiopian hybrid should be between 13-16 weeks. Curious to know your opinion about her aromas when she is more mature.

Hey Dubi - the Mauritius x Ethiopian is a BIG stretcher in flower! What seems like its going to be a pretty squat sativa in vegetative growth really goes out the window during the first 4 weeks of flower. I am seeing 3x stretch similar to pure green / purple hazes of the past.

The furthest along Mauritius x Ethiopian is right about 7 weeks in and is developing a very pleasant, earthy-lemon smell with a mild lavender presence in the background. The other two have been topped / abused / forced to be overly rootbound in small containers (3.5L) similar to the big one. One is about a week into flower, it smells exactly like hops. The other is very ethiopian leaning and smells like lemons. I am debating running it outdoors though I'm a little afraid of how big it'll get if I let it go all season...

Hi Terpene, nice plants and growing skills there, I'm planning adding some led lights e27 like yours to complement my 170 real watt UFO led (very low light penetration about 25/30cm).
Really impresive and motivating reading your experience and the plants you grow.
Thank's for sharing, good vibes.

Hi Terpene,

I expected something like that, pure Mauritius and pure Ethiopian are already very tall and lanky sativas with long flowering times. A F1 hybrid between both should produce lots of hybrid vigor and hence very stretcher type of tropical sativa plants. Anyway you are dealing very well with them, and they look quite under control, without that extreme lanky node length that is so common in the ethiopian. This kind of extreme stretching can be appreciated better in the Congo x Ethiopian hybrid that Lean Green is testing right now.

Interesting your comments about the aromas the hybrid is developing so far, the ethiopian mainly provides earthy/woody/fermented lemony kind of aromas, sometimes musky too. The pure Mauritius has 2 main terpene profiles: one is the lavender, which is my favourite based on terpenes, with a very pleasant well focused, non anxious effect, although the pure Mauritius with lavender aromas were lesser powerful, with lesser THC content. The other Mauritius main pheno based on terpene profile is a more classic floral/fruity/woody african sativa smelling pheno, its terpene profile is less interesting than the lavender pheno, but it produces plants with stronger electric effect. Finally i decided to use the fruity/floral/woody Mauritius mother (with higher THC content between all the Mauritius we explored) for the ethiopian cross you are growing, but since pure Mauritius was not inbred previously for a certain pheno, i think you should still be able to find the 2 main Mauritius terpene profiles in its hybrids too.

Here's a kitchen sink blend of southern California and an ACE line - Honduras x Alien Orangeade. Alien Orangeade was created by a friend - get ready, this goes on for a while: [Alien Technology x Tangie OG x Girl Scout Cookies] x [Alien Technology x Chem Dawg]. Its vegging outdoors in a 37L SIP is very much showing the Honduran influence in its skinny 11 bladed leaves. Smells are strong from a distance - a more fermented lemons (Honduras) version of AOCADE's orange/tangerine-citric alien dawg ether.

The runty pheno of Zamaldelica x Ethiopians at 14.5 weeks is within a day or two of finishing. The other two plants have been chopped and are developing really different smells in jars. The ethiopian pheno is lemon-mango-cream pie and the tall, spindly zamaldelca pheno is sandalwood-incense similar to terroriffic Zamaldelicas from past grows.

Mauritius x Ethiopian update
At 8.5 weeks in, the lavender pheno of Mauritius x Ethiopian continues to stack next to the citric hoppy pheno which is about 2.5 weeks in. Just like its sister, the citric hoppy pheno is a monster stretcher in flower!

8.5 week lavender pheno bud detail:

I am noticing that the higher wattage LEDs have a somewhat annoying constant - leaves within 12cm of the diodes will burn / show nutrient deficiency issues where leaves further away (in either direction above the lights or below the damaged leaves) look fine. I saw this with a few other plants when I hung the panel too close. I can feed more to compensate, but the leaves further from the bulbs tend to hook / claw up. In the case of the Mauritius x Ethiopians, the height of the plant means there's no real way to avoid this, so just plan on some of the leaves looking terrible.

The lemony, ethiopian looking pheno outside has been tossed into a 13L SIP and is now very quickly developing happy little sativa leaves. I am debating letting this plant run through the season outside, though now that I've seen what its sisters can do inside, I am a bit nervous as to the overall finishing size of the plant. My *extremely hopeful* plan is forced rootboundness till about August and then toss it in a 25-35L SIP as the daylight fades. I make no promises as to how well I will be able to contain the growth. Dubi - how many stories tall were your plants at finish?

The earthy lavender pheno of Mauritius x Ethiopian is at 12 weeks and stacking nicely, despite the lights continuing to burn the upper leaves. I've found seeds in a few of the branches but there are no herms present which means the Zamaldelica x Ethiopian pollen I used for F2s on the tall spindly Zamaldelica x Ethiopian did a bit of drifting thanks to my fans / aggressive pollination technique. This saves me a step, I was planning to manually pollinate this plant with Zamaldelica x Ethiopian pollen.

6 weeks in on the hoppy smelling pheno of Mauritius x Ethiopian. This plant is denser and less stretchy in flower. Its flowering habit reminds me very much of the most Ethiopian leaning Zamaldelica x Ethiopian plant I had.

The lemony, very ethiopian pheno of Mauritius x Ethiopian is vegging outdoors and has completely overgrown / hidden the tomato cage I used to spread the plant out.
