I'm not real sure how they work or wether or not they exchange air or if that's just hot air coming from the compressor or what. peace

2 hose portable AC units and most all window units... window units usually have an function to exchange stinky air..

Something like this?

Something like this?

Hey folks, shopping for an AC myself lately.

I want to run c02 in my flower cabinet as well as keep the temps down.

So a dual hose portable would work then? I'm thinking about getting this one.. http://www.ajmadison.com/cgi-bin/ajmadison/MAC10K.html

It's kinda spendy and I'm not sure it has the auto restart function. What do you guys/gals think?

I am wanting to have a "closed loop" type setup where cool air is drawn into my cabinet and exausted back into the AC "chamber"

I want to do this for a couple reasons. If the AC has less area to cool it will use less power, and by keeping the air in a smaller closed loop I will use less c02.

Does this sound right?

I have a small closet next to my flower cabinet that I want to place the portable AC in and seal it off with the 2? AC hoses comming out which will be routed across the room to my window.

Another two hoses/ducts will come from the closet to my flower cabinet. These will be supply and return.

The lights in my cabinet have/will have their own vented hoods using seperate air from the room or outside.

I want to place the c02 and controler next to the cabinet piping into the cabinet where the sensor is located?

Does this sound about right? How else should I go about doing it? Any ideas or tips would be great (newbie here)

I think I want to add another set of those side lights on the right side of my cabinet, but this is basically what I'm working with.

what the pros use.

Or you can ebay mini split ductless units.. If you have some knowledge of installing this kind of thing.. The ebay route could save you about 4 grand. They come pre charged from either provider and are pretty easy to get going.. :pointlaug

Eh, looks expensive. Maybe I posted in the wrong section. I'm just a small cabinet personal med grower. The one I was looking at said it brings fresh air into the room and has a built in dehumidifier. Any one know how much fresh air it draws or if you can set or adjust that function? I also might not want the dehumidifier on all the time is that adjustable? :pointlaug

They cost around 3 to 5 grand for the setup they offer off the website.. Sorry about posting it up, thought u guys said what do the pros use... Not, I want the best cab possible. Either way.. its some good info to have should u ever need an ac that size.

SOG Army: Thanks bud thats the kind of info I was looking for! Seems to be suited for a location where the grow space was rather long-term, correct? I would imagine that a pro would be needed to install that kind of system.

Definately NOT ! ! Compressors contain OIL along with refrigerant and this will cause the oil to build up in the top of the compressor and upon start up.....when it tries to compress the oil, which cannot be compressed.....it will bend the valves. BAD IDEA !!

If you are getting portable, than get a dual hose AC unit too... they are more efficient and also dont exchange air.. with my one hose portable AC, it leaks some smell...
your going to be happy when you finally get to control temps at your whim..an AC makes everything easier.. If i had know from when i first started growing, i would have bought an AC before buying the an exhaust fan and also bought a vaportek instead of a carbon filter...

i thought id post here to let anyone reading this know that almost any consumer level dual hose a/c WILL exchange air , not to the extent as a single hose portable, but they will. there are some users here that have found units that dont exchange as much, or are more easily sealed to prevent room air being vented out, but rest assured unless you are buying the expensive industrial kwik kool units, your going to be venting out stink and co2 no matter if you go dual or single hose

I read a comparison of all the portable AC units...
they suggested NOT getting the ones that were more energy efficient
as they did not cool as good or as fast as ones that were not....
