? About smart pots

I started out with 3 gallon smart pots and my plants finished out around 5 feet tall, the plants will not become root bound in smart pots, the roots will push through the bottom and sides before getting root bound...

As for JJH1957 idea on the cloth shopping bag,I also use the shopping bags, and they are Great there around 4 or 5 gallons.and they have handles which IMO is awesome, easy to move around, especially if you rotate your plants alot..
IMO they work better than smart pots...

Any one use GeoPots,,if so what do you think of them??

smartpots are hard to transplant, as well as clean after the shows over...i got a bin stuffed full of ones i never plan to use again. i switched over to growbags and love them...

Smartpots are not hard for transplant, you just peel the pot all around like a banana and voila, your plant is ready to be transplanted:tiphat:

That's what i do,works like a charm. Once the roots fill the SP its very hard to hurt them.

I'm about 9 or 10 uses on the ones i have.

Just got some new thin kind because they were cheap a buck for one gallon, gonna try 12 under 1k

So I'm wanting to have 1 of my tents with soil in smart pots but I am unsure of size to get. It will be under 500watts and will be strains in the 10-12 week range. I figured that they would be flipped to 12/12 around 10-12" if not immediately when they were finished cloning. Also, there may be others (indica) in the future in my 3x3 tent and would probably be flipped closer to 2' tall. What size of smart pots should I get for each tent to maximize yield so as to not have the ladies root bound?

I was thinking 3G for the sativas and 5g for the Indicas due to their size, but not sure if it should be reversed or 5g for everyone.

Thanks to all who can help, can't wait to figure this one out.
Take it from someone like me who has grown in both smart fabric type pots and hard air-prune pots, stick with regular plastic pots. Preferably square but round is fine as long as you have the correct size. There are no benefits to smart pots that relate to potency, yield or savings. Some claim these pots create larger and stronger root balls, therefore that creates more bud. Not only is the claim that these pots create bigger and stronger root balls not proven, the claim that a bigger root ball creates more bud isn't proven. I've yielded more on small root balled plants compared to larger root balled plants just as often as I've yielded more on the reverse. You want solid, cheap and light-proof pots in the sizes you use, nothing more. More of a gimmick in my opinion.

i've been eyeing these smart pots lately just to keep my mums in. seems like the perfect thing. wont have to worry about transplanting no time soon, and new cut sites popping up like crazy. but i would only do it on mums
