BloodyTreez - Thanks BT, glad you and the wife like my pictures! However, I am compelled to mention that I am not female, and have no wish to be so!!! I do like connecting with females, so if your wife has a good looking friend... I am single!

That's ol' Abby Normal in the pic above taken during a visit to my "ducky" Aussie mates patch. Here's a little "bud art" for ya"

Abby's back... time to open up the Bud Shack and get the place dusted, been a damn long time since I was last here!!! So much has changed... hard to believe it is actually legal to grow and smoke weed in the good ol' USA, at least parts of it anyway. It's been 6 years since I last logged on and posted, so let's get the party started!

I am now retired and single, which means I can do pretty much whatever the hell I want to. Life is good indeed, and I have started my first grow in a very long time... so we shall see if I still have a little magic left. None of the seeds I had were viable after such a long time in stasis, so I picked up some of BOG's Sweet Cindy and Lifesaver for a little blast from the past.

To all my old friends, glad to be back and sorry I was gone so long, but unfortunately life sometimes gets in the way of having fun. But not anymore! :) So welcome one and all back to the Bud Shack... come on in and sit a spell, you're always welcome 'round here!

Greeting & Salutations my friends! It has indeed been too long... great to see Mr. Mota, Mrs. Babba and Frank dropping by, please don't mind the mess as it will take awhile to clean the place up! :)

As I mentioned earlier, I have had to start from scratch, as none of the previous genetics I had made or received survived the passage of time. Que sera, sera! I had always liked BOG's genetics, and managed to purchase some of his Lifesaver and Sweet Cindy for this new grow. I received the BOG order quickly, from the time I mailed the order to when I started germination was exactly one week. Not too shabby... my hats off to BOG for such speedy service.

I germinated 6 of each using the moist paper towel method, and had some start to pop within 24 hours. I received 100% germination and subsequently all beans produced sprouts. At this point the youngsters are about 2-3 weeks old, here's a pic of the kids in the bathtub.

Splish Splash BOG Babies in the Bath

For now, I have converted a spare bathroom into a veg room. You can tell by the amount of dust on my light it's been stored away for far too long. I'm using a T5 for vegging, and have fixed up a nice grow tent in a spare room for flowering. Here's the flowering area:

The plants in the Flower Room are unknown genetics from seeds gifted me by an aunt and uncle, and are in veg mode. I will be moving the BOG babies into the room for vegging under the big light in about a week. For the inquiring minds that want to know, I have 2 1k cool tubes vented to a carbon scrubber unit. I have set up a scrog frame for half of the room using 1/2" PVC.

Should be fun!

Bathing BOG Beauties
picture.php

The BOG babies are doing well under the T5, and are growing steadily. Today they actually received their first feeding of Fox Farms (Grow Big & Big Bloom), and are now roughly 3 weeks old. The picture above was taken 3 days after the previous post, and they are certainly starting to show their "BOG" tendencies... a thick stem with growth "up" rather than "out". The leaves are going to be huge, and I will most certainly have to top the girls to encourage the side growth. Too early to tell any sex yet, and the way they are taking off I may have to transplant into bigger pots before they do.

As a reminder, this grow has BOG's Sweet Cindy (left side) and Lifesaver (right side).

Moving Time

The BOG Lifesaver youngsters have outgrown the bathtub and had to be moved into the Flowering room... which is currently in veg mode. I moved 5 out of the 6 Lifesavers and 1 Sweet Cindy into their new quarters and gave them all new pots. I will move the remaining bathing beauties into the flower room in a couple of days as I want to let them root just a bit more before transplant. In the picture above, the first 2 rows are the BOG Lifesavers with one Sweet Cindy plant on the first row far right. The back row are 3 unknowns from gifted seeds. I plan on vegging the BOG's for 6-7 weeks (currently on week 3) before flipping the switch, as I still have some topping to do.

Damn its nice to be back and growing again!

The little ones are looking fantastic, BOG's gear always seems to deliver the goods. Looking forward to seeing what you find. Subbed for the show

Greetings SourDank - looking forward to seeing what we find during this grow myself! The last time I grew Lifesaver I was a bit disappointed as it did not live up to the hype surrounding it. That was 10 years ago... so we shall see if it has improved any. The Sweet Cindy was absolutely awesome the last time I had it and I don't expect that to have changed.

Now that the BOG's are vegging away, it's time to get ready for some clones... making some that is. I looked online and in the local grow store and was amazed at how expensive cloners were. It's so simple to make your own, I actually did a posting 10 years ago right here in the Bud Shack on making one. It's time to make a new one!

The parts are simple and easy to obtain:
Small black container
Air Pump
Air Stone
Black tubing
2" Net Pot
2" Neoprene Plug (Collar)
Drill with hole saw

The Bubble Cloner Parts

I found a small black tote at Walmart for under $5, bought a 5" air stone for $8, tubing cost $2, net pots and neoprene plugs for $3 and a nice dual air pump to run two cloners simultaneously for $17. Altogether, about $30 in parts... you can do it cheaper but I wanted to use the net pots and neoprene in case I switched to aeroponic in the future and wanted the lid sealed.

Unfortunately, the only small black tote I could find had a "raised" lid, could not find a flat one anywhere. This cut down the number of sites from 15 to 9 as I only made holes in the flat areas of the lid, wanting to keep the lid sealed. So drill the holes using a 2" hole saw, and be sure to sand away any rough edges or stringy plastic. Be sure to wash thoroughly afterwards. I added one small hole in the lid for the air hose, then added the airstone and net pots with plugs.

Now all you have to do is hook it up to the pump and VOILA! Bubble bubble, no toil... no trouble! Now she's ready for clones!

The small neoprene plugs come in either soft or firm, I chose the soft collars and they fit quite nicely into the net pots. I did not glue or anchor the net pots to the lid, it's much easier to just lift them out to check for roots. As soon as the BOG's start showing sex, we'll get some clones started!

BOG Babies at 4 weeks
picture.php

The BOG babies are now just past one month old, and are doing quite well. I have added CO2 to the grow tent, which is a first for me. I'm using a 20lb tank with a Titan regulator and PPM 4 controller. First day after hooking it up I saw more new growth, so it should be an interesting addition to the Bud Shack. The plants have started to show pre-flowers, and I have culled several Sweet Cindy males from the grow... at this point half the Sweet Cindy were males with 2 still left to show. That means only one Sweet Cindy female for sure, which is too few for me. I will be starting some more in the next few days.

The Lifesavers are a different story, and all appear female at this point. They are very robust, with a strong stalk and tightly spaced nodes. The growth had been up rather than out, but I am now seeing some outward development and will be topping the girls once I am 100% sure of sex. Here's what the Lifesaver looks like at 4 weeks:

The BOG's are about to have company, I am currently germinating some JD Shorts Grape Krush Throwbacks and any day now I should be receiving some White Widow, Jock Horror, PPP, and Maui Waui. Things are getting interesting at the Bud Shack!

Hey SourDank, the Grape Krush Throwback is a new line from JD Short of Old World Genetics, based on the Grape Krush and Blueberry from DJ Short. The seed pack I got came from relatives who visited a shop in Oregon. There was a posting on another forum from JD Short here at ICM:

My predictions for a finished product on the Grape Krush Throwback are 'semi'-spear shaped (and hopefully large) dense and compact flowers of tightly packed and swollen calyx's. As well I expect to see the standard amount of resin production that comes out of the blue line with perhaps just a touch more. And I'm hoping...hoping for that signature curled sugar leaf loaded with those standing trichomes along the rims of the leaf that come out of Dj's line. I'm also hoping this cross introduced a bit more color to the strain as I didn't see much in my pheno hunt through the original Grape krush stock. I'm relatively certain that the terpenes were locked down and should knock the socks off of anyone who even looks at it. I'm anticipating intense concord grape jelly aromas and an earthen hash sour grapes taste. However the rest is really only my best guess based on the knowledge I have of the parents used. I also expect it to produce with the stability that the rest of the f4's and f5's from Dj's line do.

The lineage is F4 Grape Krush X's F4 Blueberry.

Just started germing more Sweet Cindy as the only females were the two "runts" of the group. That makes 2 females out of 6 beans, with 7 in germination. The Lifesavers had a great ratio, and so far all are female, with a couple I can't quite tell yet. Once I passed 50 my eyesight has gone downhill, just can't see the small stuff anymore. :( BTW, I should mention the Lifesaver's are little beasties... did I say little?

Also started 6 Sour Boggle beans... had almost forgot about them! I have not done the Sour Boggle before, so should be fun. Now that I am retired, I have a lot more time for fun things!!! Speaking of fun things, cloning is set for this Wednesday. I just made some new 6 qt 8 site bubble cloners (one for each strain), and am seriously thinking of setting up a couple of DWC buckets. Never tried hydro... but I heard it can be fun too! :) I think I can find some room for a few buckets...

Topping Day
picture.php

Topped all of the girls late last night and this morning and placed the tops in the bubble cloners. Looking at the photo above, the Lifesavers are the six plants on the right, the Sweet Cindy are the first 2 (on or in the orange pots) and the one "unknown" is in the back left. One interesting note, the "unknown" gal actually "bled" when I topped her. Never seen anything like it... the plant produced a dark red fluid when cut, looked a lot like blood. There's something about this plant that makes me think it might be something special... we shall see!

The seeds have already started germinating, and have been placed in their sprouting containers. All of the Sour Boggle are germed, still waiting on 3 of the Grape Krush Throwbacks and a couple Sweet Cindy's.

The Nursery
picture.php

For the time being, I have turned a spare bathroom into a nursery to house the seedlings and clones. A simple plastic shelf unit situated in the bathtub with a T5 light on top houses seedling trays and bubble cloners as well as my filling\storage station for the plastic jugs I use to water the big plants. For me, it's simple, efficient, clean and organized. The little 6 quart bubble cloners I made are working like a champ, looking at the clones you'd swear they were still attached to the plant even though it's been well over a day since they were cut! See for yourself...

The Lifesaver Clones

The Grape Krush, Sour Boggle and Sweet Cindy seedlings have started to sprout, and today I received the Maui Waui, White Widow, PPP and Jock Horror. Once the kids in the nursery get moved to the veg area (I'm still working on) we'll start the new seeds. So grab a beer and sit back... the party is just getting started!
