The Harvest of the 2nd Mox Mox IX1 mother

The Harvest of the 2nd Mox Mox IX1 mother

Just cut her down...day 68. This expression too...has a harvest window of 65-75 days. I took her this morning because I wanted something to trim on this evening...and more importantly...I need her space.

^ You can see she is a flimsy bitch. Not a huge expression...but not bad either...flowers being copious and dense. Another one that showed intersex in wks 3-4..then on..an occasional nanner..but not any kind of a problem

Has that DD influenced aroma....baby poo skunk fuel...but also some Flo perfume/floral. The Flo does play some part in this the "most common" expression...the deep green foliage along with some deep rose blushing...the floral(ness)....some clawing..Flo influences

^ what her flowers look like. As I said yesterday....I've already vaporized early harvest samples off this plant:....primo..potent..motivating..flavorful...enjoyable high (I'm high on her as I type this)...all and all...solid expression

Nothing out of the ballpark attraction wise...I'm looking for other things...but yeah...a solid expression to mother off of (for consistency anyway)

* I flushed this plant for around 20 days...very little fade out..none of these deep green Mox will quickly flush to fade. It's a common theme within these expressions...and as stated...I find this a Flo influenced trait.

^ the blushing I'm talking about...evident on the stalk...again...reminds me of Flo coloring

^ The seeded flowers...a productive output

In the Circle

In the Circle

Quick look at some of the circle

^ Plants in various phases of flower...jamming out buds..beans...and rank stank

^ a 6' Queen Mox Clone...somewhere in her 40's..she should be done early 70's...partially pollinated...stench ridden flimsy vine

^ The "Freak" expression Hell Hound IX1...30's..partially pollinated. This plant is 6'+....still not sure what she wants to be..but for sure an aggressive plant

Jesus Pablo! That is some hellish habitus/structure on the Queen Mox and the Hell Hound. Total vines. Are you gonna put up a screen to hold them up this year?

My clear preference is for shit that holds itself up without my help. In the end they all fall over eventually => soft soil, heavy buds on 3 m long sticks, but still: I would like a sturdy build.
I’m a vine structure aficionado. All my favorite expressions come that way.

I’m still not seeing how this garden will look. I just this morning decided to dedicate it to this Hell Mox project.

Giving myself a refresher on what I did and the plants I used.

* in 2017 I ran my last copy of the Queen Mox outdoors in California. I ran her in a scrog. It was documented on a private forum and I think on Instagram but not on here. She no longer exists but I bred the hell out of her for the years she did.

Dude….I’m flying this grow by whatever means necessary 😂 I’ll start soaking beans and put them in the ground next week. Whatever happens…happens. I’ll cull the males though. Don’t see a way I can keep any around for partial pollinations. No time No space.

Going through my beans this morning…getting something together for this garden.

It’s emotionally draining for me. I have so much but it’s all getting old. It’s difficult for me to plan out this garden knowing I am incapable of progressing it along by making new generations.

Some of this stuff is from as far back as 2007…when I first started my breeding projects. Some of the stuff I networked for…those dudes are not even around anymore.

IMG_4903.jpeg

^ The Hell Mox seeds. I sent some to a friend in San Diego last season. He grew a few out indoors. They came out nice. He sent me some flowers from that grow. He doesn’t clone anything or make seed…so just that one run.

IMG_4896.jpeg

^ Eazy Mox Trilogy S1…I used the number 7 beans for last year’s grow. It wouldn’t be difficult for me to go right back and do it again. No males….and I could go with the number 5 mom this season and get great results as well. She was probably pollinated by a different dad when I originally made the f1 cross. Blended pollens being what they are.

IMG_4897.jpeg

^ What I have left from the Chem DD f3 beans. I still have some f2 generation as well but I found an awesome plant when in 2018 I direct sowed f2 and f3 Chem DD beans in my outdoor California garden. She was most excellent…and if that wasn’t the end of my gardens there…I’d have cloned her. The Chem DD f1 were from Rez’s first release of the DD line back in ‘07/‘08. The original dads. I inline bred them into the f3.

IMG_4890.jpeg

^ What I have left of Odessa (Casey Jones f1 X Cindy Jones f1) which I took into the f3. That line worked out well for me…but my “Mindless” expression which was my favorite…beans are looking rough.

I also took H3ad’s Casey Jones into the f3…but I found the last of the f2 seeds I made (dated August 2009 harvest) and took some out.
IMG_4906.jpeg

IMG_4908.jpeg

^ So just to see what is going to happen I’m soaking some Casey Jones f2, Chem DD f3, Odessa f2 (Mindless mom)….and if viable I’ll use some in my garden. Odessa and Casey Jones…of course…are very closely related…with Odessa having the added C99 line. One could also say the they’re all related by Rez’s Sour work. The DD having the Sour D inbred pops and Casey Jones having the precursor to the final Sour D inbred pops…ECSD v3

* Odessa was used to make Hell Hound and Hell Hound was used to make Hell Mox.

IMG_4884.jpeg

^ What I have left of Mox Mox f2 (Queen Mox mom)….she and some of her offspring were used to make Hell Mox. I also found some other f2 using a different mom and some of the original f1. Crazy I still have those. The f1 are from 2008.

I used Mox Mox in a lot of stuff including Eazy Mox Trilogy and Hell Mox

Mox Mox = Chem DD (Deliah mom) X Original Flo x Chem DD

IMG_4887.jpeg

^ Hell Hound seeds.

Hell = Odessa X OG Jam
OG Jam X Odessa
Bred both ways

A couple hours soaking

IMG_4916.jpeg

^ 4 of 10 Odessa have already sunk…with 3 of them already cracking open. These seeds are probably around 15 years old. “Mindless” was a motherfucker of a stable bitch. I’ll have to dig way back…not sure in what thread to find some documentation of her. I remember her though. Big vine with robust flowers.

IMG_4913.jpeg

^ 9 of 12 Chem DD have sunk. Nice. Guesstimating I made these in 2012-2013. Somewhere in there.

IMG_4911.jpeg

^ 1 of 12 Casey Jones have sunk. Made in 2009.

I’m letting the glasses heat up in natural sunlight for about an hour to get the filtered water temp up. Then back into a window sill.

Hauled Juniper and Oak duff from 9-12 this morning then spread it and blended it with water. Probably another session like this tomorrow and it should be good on duff. Bring in some more mulch afterwards just because…it’s available so why not…

I like the picture of the water storage thing. Having grown up and lived most of my life in a northeastern rain forest we rarely have water concerns. We sometimes have the opposite, fall rains turning plants to molded mush. Good luck on this grow, you're taking what natures providing and making a go of it. (y)

Even when you are still...you are moving

Even when you are still...you are moving

Here's a look at some SFV x Ghost X Ghost at day 56...there are two phenotypes...I did find another lemon/lime phenotype (so far only 2 then) and the other phenotype is a darker leafed, less the citrus...a lesser aroma in general...but a danky/funky smelling expression. I can't put a specific finger on aroma.

They seem to want to finish from 6o-65....but you could take most of them earlier. I'm trying different harvest Xs. Structure wise....as shown in the pix...pretty similar with the lemon/lime being distinctively lighter green (lol...in the pix not so much...)

The same Kush plants with the Odessa IX1 "Trops" and "Vinyl" (day 60)

I'll use the beans from both "Trops" and "Vinyl".....both phenotypes are very nice. I like them both equally.

I'm going to use pretty much all the Kush beans...as they are all very similar. I have separated the 1st harvested lemon/lime phenotype's beans, however....I do prefer that aroma.

1st batch harvest...a little tester here and there in a joint....good stuff off the vine...that's promising. I still have the majority of the Kush plants to finish before I get too caught up in the smoke and assessments.

Balancing Act

Balancing Act

The juggle between work and gardens....one day this thing/one day that thing

Box of Odessa and SFV x Ghost X Ghost buds....drying

I'm slammed in life at the moment. I'm posting up for sanity purposes today. I've taken some needed indoor time...busy with harvesting, germinations, transplanting, and some cleaning that I haven't had time to keep up on.

There are like 6 more OGs coming due...staggered...in the next week. I'm happy with every plant rolling by me....absolutely no bitches.

I will not be posting up much for the next couple weeks

A quick overview of the Hell Hound project:

Using ClearBarbedFunk's OG Kush work SFV x Ghost X Ghost and my Odessa IX1s

Blended the pollen and hit 4 Odessa (2 of which I'll use the beans from as they are more to my liking) and....I'm not even sure....but at least 6 different Kush females.

Very basically....I've mixed Odessa into OG Kush....but as the pollen was blended....some will be Odessa IX2, Kush IX1, or the actual outcross. I'm past the point of caring about exactness. As long as I put good mixers into the marinade.....good things will happen is my conclusion when it comes to breeding.

Peeps make it more difficult than it has to be by trying to be precise in a not precise world. I don't believe in IBLs for this reason....there is no precision in genetics. Variables, %s, and #s is all it is....piss in the wind. Whether you end up pissing with the wind or in it and all over yourself is your only real option.

I don't BX because I don't keep anything to BX to....but I don't think it is all that difficult to find what I'm looking for just by sifting down generations and outcrossing in compatible ways. I'm a private dude...with no illusions of making anyone happy and no goals of doing so either.

I don't know any more or less than 1/2 the contemporary breeders on here....we've all read the same books it seems. Some are more witty....some more connected....some are more talented....some more worshipped....some more pompous...some more educated etc etc....but all are doing about the same exact thing. There are few stand outs in the commercial market. Privately....well....who knows? Who bred the Chem lines for instance? Bagseed comes from somewhere....

I'm not stable.....I'm accepting of chaos....plant expressions will reflect this condition and that I find interesting. It's wind driven pilgrims

Last time I'll get them all together

Last time I'll get them all together

Odessa IX1 (Casey Jones X Cindy Jones) batch that are all partially pollinated for the Hell Hound project.

Days flower 51-58....the two at 58 are flushing....the two at 51 are still getting blast of P

Heavy Casey dominant....these expressions are usually not my favorite in flavor department....if she follows the general Casey trend the herb will smoke with some fruit and have a mellow sativa up high....yields like a bitch. Most heavy yielding Casey Jones are of this expression.

The Flimsy TW-like phenotype....lightest yielder....sage/skunk aroma....funky smelling and strong. If she were not tied up she would be a vine growing on the ground

Tropical phenotype....pineapple/tropical bliss....heavy yielder...fucking reeks....probably more to the C99...she is still packing weight on

Vinyl phenotype....smells like plastic/funk/fuel....comes from the Diesel genetics almost positively...no fruit....smells like industrial revolution. She is also still packing weight....she is mighty

I'll attempt to get harvest shots of each when their time comes...for now...you can forget about them. Significance: they are the Odessa parents to the Hell Hounds. I mark them down as important plants in my program. Their beans will be of high value to me.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
EDIT: My favorite Casey Jones expression in the F1 generation (2 separate runs....1 pac of 10 each run...done more than a year apart) was not a great yielder. She was kind of an in between phenotype and tasted like hash. I used her to breed with...I'd have to look in which crosses she was used in. Casey Jones is not a cure all....like all crosses....she must be worked and selected through. I have had success with Casey in all regards....but I've put in the efforts to move her along down the line (into F3) and blended her in many ways with other genetics. I'll still vouch for Casey Jones in about every cultivation and final product department.

Odessa....though filled with Casey....adds other dimensions. It is a less than complicated cross....but the Cindy Jones pops that was involved has produced many great offspring in several crosses. He has left his mark on me and mine. That male was a significant piece to the foundations. Having a stud male is priceless in a small breeding program. I can not repeat that enough...if you have one....you know. He was the only plant EVER of the Cindy Jones cross....the pollen was old...I had maybe 2 beans....and only 1 made it....HIM....that you can not duplicate....that is fate...that is a message from the plant to you....I used the shit out of him for 2 rounds.

4 Track in my bathroom

That's the kind of recording you get off this Jessica Lang cross of mine....exploring...little ventures with only these 2 females....taking her out for a date.....for a little test flight

Jessica Lang= Satechism X Faye Dunaway

Faye Dunaway= Chem DD X Cindy Jones

Satechism= Casey Jones X Blue Satellite 2.2

At days 39 and 43....aggressive blasters....no real direction

The Lemon/Lime Kush plant at day 66 beside the Odessa "Trops" plant at day 54. Donors to the Hell Hounds....citrus and tropics...of much interest to me....looking at them side by side I'm getting my sketch of where I'm going to take them next.

I've watched both these girls with a special eye their entire time in flower. I'm attracted to both.

More Odessa IX1 (Casey Jones X Cindy Jones)

More Odessa IX1 (Casey Jones X Cindy Jones)

Here are the other 2 donor Odessa females being used in the Hell Hound project....day 30....both partially pollinated. The plant on the left is most likely a C99 leaner as she reeks like pineapple....the plant on the right looks like she could be a Diesel leaning Casey Jones phenotype....reeks of diesel fuel.

Tops...

A seeded flower....pollinated last wk or somewhere around that time frame.

It is my thoughts....that I have a nice selection of phenotypes for making the Hell Hounds....there is less variation in the SFV x Ghost X Ghost side of things....but I expected those to be fairly uniform. I have nothing to complain about....all is going well as expected. The flower studio is going off.

More Hell Hound making

More Hell Hound making

I pollinated my favorite of these 3 SFV x Ghost X Ghost (Kush) females this morning at day 20. I may or may not pollinate the other 2 in this batch over the weekend. I have pollinated enough of them...everything I pollinate from here out is mostly bonus. There are still even more behind this batch. Going to be monsters.

Here is the one I selected for today's pollination....they turn on really fast....that is why I am hitting them early. Between day 20 and day 30...these Kush plants really boom out their flowers. By 40....they are well on their way and getting dense as hell. Expressions like what you are seeing here.....work excellent in my set up. Easy to care for...

The Keep

The Keep

The Keep is what I'm now calling the vegetative state. I really feel the Keep is of most importance. Like a fighter before the fight...the plants and I must be alone and meditate on what we will do in the pit....have our strategy and tactics worked out...our conditioning where it needs to be...our focus direct...heart willing.

I put the 1st of my Odessa females into flower this morning. Two of them. They are the tallest and most aggressive of the batch. Shown here with the tallest of the SFV x Ghost X Ghost (Kush for short)

Odessa = Casey Jones X Cindy Jones

I'm detailing what I'm seeing in the Keep stages to show you why I'm making the moves I'm making. I see the Odessa and the Kush as sharing many of the same growth traits...they seem very compatible. Some phenotypes I often confuse...they match up that well

Leaves...

Odessa

Kush

The biggest Odessa (probably a replica of the mom..we are in the 1st incross) and two squat phenotype sisters.....these two are easily confused with the Kush plants and show the variation within the Odessa population....perhaps more Cindy in these..hard to say

Hell Hound Project Update

Hell Hound Project Update

This project is now totally sexed and consists of ClearBarbedFunk's work in the OG Kush lines and the Odessa cross I am steadily working on....

So:

SFV x Ghost X Ghost (CBF's work)

Odessa (2nd generation)= Casey Jones X Cindy Jones

Cindy Jones= Casey Jones X C99BX (H3ad)

I kept 13 of the Kush....1 male and 12 females (!) and only 5 of the Odessa....1 male and 4 females

Here are a couple pix of typical Odessa in the back and typical Kush in the front....females

Pretty nice plants. The Odessa are faster...I expected this to be the case. The OGs are not slow....just not as fast....some are, however, starting to show some legs...getting a stretch on. I've gone easy on the OGs in the pruning department figuring that they might be ill affected by Quasi Defoliations style....I am nipping leaves though.

I would like to use both males in both directions....I will most likely inline the OG into the next generation as these are the only beans I have of the cross. The Odessa...already in the 2nd generation here...will only be outcrossed. I have plenty of Odessa beans and in no hurry to push on in that direction. I used beans from my favorite 1st generation Odessa female for this project...she was a beastie.

All systems are a GO running down the Hell Hound...this will be splendid summer weed....happy with how it is shaping up

EDIT: concerning the OG Kush stuff...I started with 16 beans I think...13 made it...so there was only that single male in the batch...that's the hand

Family Traditions....inter mingle....less the incest.....

Family Traditions....inter mingle....less the incest.....

I doubt anyone recalls.....perfectly understandable.....half the time I can't follow it.....myself......though for me....it must be duly logged down....exactly what it was...that was done.

Odessa= Casey Jones X Cindy Jones (Casey Jones X Heads C99BX)

You can view Odessa.....as a H3ad fest....no shame in that...some of my favorite stuff is in Odessa.

If you consider that there were different Casey Jones phenotypes used to make Cindy Jones....and to reference Odessa.....you will understand I'm getting double the bang...on the Jones.

I'm actually looking for outstanding Casey Jones expressions to resurface....at a quicker flower speed....perhaps the headie oils tampered by some grapefruit....or some other interesting twang. Nothing short of....a soaring sativa head.

My statement...once again....C99 brings down flowering Xs....pretty consistently.....

I'll show you a Casey leaning Odessa....she is is a week ahead of her sisters....partially pollinated with Casey Jones F2....at only 49daze flower....well flushed....pretty much ready to be felled...I'm wringing her like a wet towel....draining her juice....

Look at this Casey Jones F2....partially pollinated for the inline into F3....63daze flower.....well flushed and ready to be felled...

Pretty similar in structure...aroma...overall demeanor....but one is done at 63 (add a few days if you like) and the other at 49 (add a few days if you want)......I'll smoke samples side by side...of course....but I'd imagine...much alike in effect/favor etc....

A few different phenotypes are showing in the batch of Odessa....some a good deal more robust....than the one I've shown you...above. Most look like they will go less than 55 daze....and one real flimsy stretcher I'm not sure about yet. Pretty fun batch of girls...hyper feminist...yet a mans ladies at the same time. I'll post them as they come up....

I have a lot of plans for this Casey kind of stuff.....Satechism has my ambitions leading up a spur trail....back up into unseen BBS connected Jones expressions.....in these isolated pools....I will dive down for......massive flower expressions paired with old skool Thai leaning subjects....based in and out of Chocolate Thai and Juicy Fruits....my research and instincts whisper ...there are two different ways to Thai within these plants.....it is a matter of matching the code up accordingly.

I believe in Satellite....I believe in Jones....they are spun just enough to add other function....but the Thai is not out of reach. Very interesting hybrids....I feel good about combining them.

Nice Pablo. I'm starting out fresh mothers of my Panama landrace. Fresh blood n'all, Out of 13 seeds germinated only one was female - crazy - So these are my first cuttings off her. I don't cut back leaves on my cuttings like lots of folks do. I pack vermicompost mixed with sand and pieces of eggshell into toilet paper half rolls under a dome. I use the IBA grey rooting powder - have used others but this usually gives me 99% rooting. I usually peel off the cardboard when I transplant but it's not necessary. I usually find some baby worms in there that hatched out. After a few days they get planted outside in my mother beds.

Nice man. I like your way of going about things. Unfortunate on the male/female ratio. I’ve been very lucky in my past endeavors with the ratio. I’m…of course…hoping for that same kind of luck this season.

I flipped into my obsessive mindset this morning…while going through my bean collection. I didn’t intend to start any seeds today. I got a bit emotional when I saw some of my choice seeds actually splitting open in their storage bags…so many years stored in fridges…that I felt I needed to test some out. Plus not all my project seeds were together like they should’ve been…so my wife stepped in and we went through every container until we (she) found what I wanted.

By then….my mind was already blown as I saw all my work in front of me…and I had plantation visions and breeding projects subjectively luring me in…into concepts I can not possibly pretend to do in my current situation. That compulsive disorder that afflicts me when I see the potential of all my past efforts…it’s a curse sometimes.

Anyway I germinated what I did today because I needed to germinate something. Wanted to see if say…those beans made in 2009…would still go. Some of them I probably won’t even put in dirt. Or maybe I will. 😂 I mean why germinate Casey Jones f2 when I can germ up Casey Jones f3 or Odessa which has a lot of Casey in it? I just wanted to see if they’d germinate I guess.

^ And look…most every seed has sunk and some are even cracking in the Chem DD f3 and Odessa f2. I will use those beans if they want to survive.

My planned run though…the Hell Mox I’m not soaking for another couple days (as was my plan) and putting them in the ground Monday or Tuesday of next week.

It’s that itch to animate life that gets me every time. I know already I’m going to overwhelm myself. Rapid firing seeds until I get my fill.

Ya I've had the seed fever myself, planting too much.
I had some seeds from a hermi in the freezer for 15 years and it was my only/best chance to cross my old cultivar with Panama. Every single seed germinated all female of course from a hermi. The cross was beautiful
1744762764422.jpeg

When I moved south I left the best seeds with a friend who unfortunately had some mental health issues and paranoided out on sending me the seeds. Another buddy sent me some seeds which had not been frozen and none have germinated thus far. Next I try gibberelic acid and coconut water.

Beautiful. Hermi seeds have been a blessing to me. I collected and labeled what few I got off my last garden. I expected and had hoped for more…but the selfed population of plants were stable and not uniform. People who believe selfed populations are uniform are mislead. I was happy they were not uniform and surprised I didn’t get more selfed seeds out of the grow. Only got maybe 5 or 6 out of 12 plants so far.

By the end of my breeding binge I decided that selfing females was the way to go. I never reversed them…just stressed them a bit. I’ve never reversed females or males using chemicals. Never got that far along.

Looking through my collection today I found stuff I’d forgotten about. I found that I bred Sam’s Original Haze X Skunk 1 to his Thai Haze X Skunk 1. When I thought I’d ever be able to grow those out I don’t know 😂 Vaguely remember crossing that stuff into other things too. All that stuff looked good too…what I crossed into…but just far fetched to grow realistically.

I remember attempting that kind of stuff indoors. Crazy. Not a good idea…. I just couldn’t help myself though. Had to get it down in seed.
