^ Every Spring before monsoon season they grade the access road to the top of Pinos Altos Mountain. It’s used mostly by companies maintaining the various communication towers on the peak. Such a great hill to train on.

^ We took a trail back down. This trail is not an official trail (it’s on mine property) and not many people use it. Steep piece of trail. Bears use it quite a bit. People like myself who use it also maintain it. It’s a way steeper way to get up to the peak. Steeper but shorter (than taking the access road) by about a mile. Pick your poison.

^ Defunct vertical mine shaft. It probably goes down several hundred feet before branching out into horizontal shafts. There are many of these on this mountain. This one obviously has a grate over it. Others do not. This mountain is no longer mined. All the shafts were dug way back in the early 20th century. There are bodies of miners in some of them. Bodies that could not be recovered after fires or shaft collapses.

Run food. Hot tamales. One of the perks of living in the barrio. We always have neighbor made tamales in the freezer. Steam them up in 10 minutes…and I have fuel to get me up and down the mountains for a few hours. Be in the low 80’s today. Full sun. Acclimating back into heat.

I’m sore and tired today. The elevation sun drains the energy out so fast….different world.

* I’m about 10 days or so into a no herb sabbatical. Running without.

A fire that started and got picked up. Found some more pottery sherds while watching to make sure they were going to hook the fire. Everybody fled the trailhead apparently. My truck was the only one there when I got down. Cluster fuck fire traffic because it started near houses. No idea how.

Lucky that one didn’t go. It had wind and slope alignment but was close to a road so easily accessible. It’s starting to kick off. If this same fire had started two weeks from now…my local hills would have gotten burned over.

I watched it from a peak for about an hour. Saw it when it started and when it got picked up. Never saw flames. Just smoke. All you need to see to tell what’s going on.

EDIT: found out the fire burned 2 acres before they caught it. Not bad.

^ These weights used to belong to this guy…Nick who lived down towards the beginning of the Pinos Altos Mountain access road. He was an older dude (70’s) who used to teach Karate out of his home. Also used to run the mountain when he was younger. Kept himself in shape.

Anyway he died a year or so ago. His son came in and sold Nick’s property…but before the new owners came in I took these out of the yard where Nick had a little gym set up…old stuff from back when he was teaching Karate. Not great equipment…just some odd weights and punching/kicking bags.

I ran the weights up the access road a few miles and keep them stashed in a bush. Some days I stop by the bush and stretch with the weights and give my respects to Nick.

* the sadder part of this story is that Nick had two prefab tiny houses on his property that he rented out. He wanted us to move into one…but I turned it down because the house was too small. He ended up renting it to a girl who was a fentanyl addict. I knew she seemed sketchy but I never met her…just saw her sometimes when I was running by the property.

In his loneliness Nick started using the drug too. He ended up overdosing on it. That’s what killed him. Then the girl and some other addicts robbed his house. Rumor has it that she might have deliberately given him an overdose. She disappeared afterwards…or at least I’ve not seen her since. It’s actually probably been closer to 1.5 years since all that happened.

IMG_4848.jpeg

^ The view from where I keep Nick’s weights. I think he’d be alright with me taking them up here and using them as part of my own training regimen. This mountain meant something to him and he did pass away on it.

^ Double peaking. Found another pottery sherd….this is the kind of terrain I’m finding the pieces in. I’m not digging for it. The winds or erosion just brings it to the top.

glad they caugh that fire before it got going
heres to old nick
Yeah sad story. Nick kind of dropped out of view…I’d just hoot as I ran by his place…but he just stayed in his house. None of my business. Then another neighbor up there told me what happened. I hadn’t seen Nick in person in 2 months by that point.

Looking back I regret not hanging out with him more. He was a tough old dude. He liked that I run the mountain. Fired him up. I did clock that girl for what she was…but it’s a free country. Had I known she was feeding him that shit I would have said something though. I kick myself for not checking in on him.

Anyway the people who bought the place are Texans. They only stay there occasionally. All 3 houses are empty 85% of the time. And they have fixed the place up some. So….life goes on

Pork. My neighbors make us all kinds of food. If we go two weeks without getting food sent over there’s something wrong 😂

I’m generous with my herb kick downs too. In that way we are all sharing what we have to offer. Two nights ago my neighbors across the street sent over a big plate of barbecued chicken with potato salad and corn on the cob. It was damn good.

* Having lost several very good friends to overdoses and murder….and seeing it every day on my street here…I do not have a lick of sympathy for drug addicts. They will rob you blind….and are the most selfish people in existence. Nobody makes people do dope. It’s a choice. It’s weak. No excuses.

Yeah they make all kinds.

Getting ready for the pay per view fights now. Prelims are over.

This post is just me going back and researching what I did and when I did it. Fall ‘13 into winter ‘14 I created Hell Mox. Reading it back to myself where I was in my headspace…the era of the garden…the objectives I had for the project. It was a lot of work….done indoors in my perpetual. I’m actually impressed by what I accomplished during that period. Totally represents my drive at that time.

* I never ran Hell Mox. Now I think I’ll run some this season. Not feminized obviously.
I made a shit ton of these beans…using multiple males and females including my Queen Mox clone.

The genetic make up includes :

Casey Jones, C99, OG Ghost, SFV OG, Chem DD, and Original Flo.

Weather looks good for planting next week.

There’s a lot of documentation on how these crosses came into existence…it’s all in this thread. I’m not going to go over it all again but I’ll say this :

Hell Mox was made by hitting it in all directions. It was done so to cover all the angles.

* Beans are 11 years old

For me….breathing life force into making my own creations has always been next level game. I know not everybody has the time, resources, or desire to do so. I don’t have it now myself…yet when I did I went full tilt off the deep end. There was method involved. Principles even. I didn’t just do it compulsively. It was planned. I saw the value.

It’s a long trail I’ve been down. A lot has happened along the way. Every garden now days is because of the efforts I put in over a decade ago. I’m still me. The plants that come out of these seeds are still my children. When I read it back…I see what I was doing…what I was thinking…how I chose direction

If all goes well I should pull off a kill level ripping grow this season

Jesus Pablo! That is some hellish habitus/structure on the Queen Mox and the Hell Hound. Total vines. Are you gonna put up a screen to hold them up this year?

My clear preference is for shit that holds itself up without my help. In the end they all fall over eventually => soft soil, heavy buds on 3 m long sticks, but still: I would like a sturdy build.

Revelations: The Birth of Hell Mox

Revelations: The Birth of Hell Mox

You saw it here 1st

^ On the left is a bean from the "Lime" Hell Hound IX1 expression and on the right is a bean from the "1st" Mox Mox IX1 expression

Guess you would have to get into an unknowing mindset to grasp on to this project..

'cause like I mentioned before: it's all in the blended pollen. To know a "true" Hell Mox will be harder to determine...but not at all impossible. If you use beans from a certain Mox Mox or Hell Hound mother...and you see plants that do not express in line with the mother's genetics...then you know you are (close enough) seeing plants influenced by the other line.

For example..using this round of Hell Hound IX1 (because Hell Hound to.. was made with blended pollens) plants

1. I used only beans coming from the OG Jam expressed moms in this round. No Odessa expressed moms were used at all.

2. I have a "Vine" expression which is an Odessa expression. Therefore..she would be a true Hell Hound. The "Lime" expression is also a true Hell Hound.

3. I have another Hell Hound IX1...which expresses like the OG Jam stuff..so whether she is a true Hell Hound would be harder to determine.

I have to figure...as I plan on working Hell Mox down many generations...that eventually the percentages will be in favor of most plants existing as....true Hell Mox. In this process...blended pollen is not that big of a deal...unless you are one of those...who just has to know every exact detail..of when and what has actually happened.

Never know..but could be something when certain IX beans crossover (o...I like that: crossover)...to become Hell Mox. I mean an actual IX could go several generations (or for infinity) before the percentages catch up...and it is touched by the other lines' pollen grain...some will be more like 1/2 breeds...example could be a Mox Mox IX2 X Hell Mox F1 and more than..a few other combinations....if you think on it..boggles the mind...but eventually...eventually they will come into their own giant mash...and I'll have no way of knowing when (which run) or what (generation) it all happened...as the genetics of each individual bean..can be its own thing. You see? It's based on the belief system...that there is no order.

Blended pollens...are a worthy concept..as long as you love the lines...and trust in them. Trust disorder is not the great scare.

The Roll has begun...

The Roll has begun...

I showed you all that flower yesterday...the one off a Mox Mox IX1

^ This morning she was harvested (day 65 flushing since day 47)...thusly...the roll has begun. She is the 1st of the mom's to come in.

^ one of her seeded buds...plump with new ideas...there are a couple flowers that were pollinated..so..plenty of beans.

^ her most toppest flower. Now...this girl was a super dark green all through most of flowering. She started to fade..in her 2nd week of flush...but by fade I mean..she just lightened up a little...didn't ever really go into autumn colors.

I've noted that many expressions when going through extended flushing (past 10 days) go into full panic mode..and never stop shooting out fresh growth. This plant...for example..was flushed just shy of 20 days...and you can see plenty of white attempts at new growth...yet looking deep into her and at her gland heads (even though I think gland color subjective)..she is plenty good. I'll show you pictures of her manicured buds..and you'll see what I mean.

I continue to flush with solid doses of Clearex the entire way through the flush process. I'm a believer in the acidic sugar wash. The 1st week of flush I feel the Clearex pushes them hard...the 2nd week they start to flush out...into the 3rd week it has changed the pH of the medium completely and effectively shuts most plants down. You must remember...I bottom feed through sprout/veg/flower...there is no run off...ever. It's all about transplanting....and finally...the forcing of everything to the surface. You must think differently....cut off/add things differently...have a light hand to bottom feed my way. Flushing is very important.

65 days...could have been 60 days or 70 days...I don't think there would be much a difference. I'd give her that entire 10 day window.I am not an anal harvester...you know what I mean?...I grow from seed..so this day or that day...which day is better...I'll never know..and in all honesty...I don't believe many people would ever know either..even if they could sit down with her over multiple clone runs. Shit man...60-70 through..pick a day..I picked 65 because it fits my rotation.

Speaking of which...she was replaced/reloaded by the Queen Mox Clone....how's that for your supper plates?

What's Acceptable Jericho?

What's Acceptable Jericho?

Lime. The Hell Hound IX1 lime expression. Totally acceptable...and I have yet to sample her. But I know already...the aroma is insane and she should follow hound trend...with that aroma transitioning over to flavor..if I'm wrong I'm wrong

^ She's my morning harvest. The lime expression day 62...flushed since day 45. Not the biggest...but not bad either..flimsy stinky stanky girl...this is the only plant that I put a star on (to watch/attracted my attention) back in her veg stage.

Wonderful Flowers

* showed a lot of intersex in weeks 3-4. After that..maybe 1 or 2 nanners were picked off during the rest of her life

** Partially pollinated for the Hell Mox build

Taking Down a Hell Hound IX1 "Vine" Expression

Taking Down a Hell Hound IX1 "Vine" Expression

Day 68....this one had to be parted out...in order to get her harvested away from the flower studio

^ Her top flowers. An aggressive plant...she put out some mighty healthy and stinky flowers. The resin from her...becomes uncomfortable on the hands/fingers...gets everywhere

^ That was her bottom 1/2. I was able to move her out of the flower studio...after she was cut down to this size

^ One of her seeded flowers. She did well for me

* The "Vine" expressions found in Hell Hound...as previously mentioned...come from the Odessa side of the genetics. This is very obvious. I can still see the deepness Casey Jones goes...even now...well removed.

** Desirable sativa hybrid. I love vaporizing vine expressions...love cultivating...love breeding them on. Indoor sativa hybrids..acclimated to my particular habits and micro environment. We'll continue on and on...until I find it just perfect.

On a Wall

On a Wall

....this is what is lined up

^OG Jam leaning Hell Hound IX1 on day 53...started flush day 51. I messed up here...and didn't pollinate her. This is a really nice expression...all business. Showed intersex weeks 3-4 but is now very mellow. Stinks like hell....resinous as hell...productive as hell.

^ Now this bitch is kind of crazy. She's a Hell Hound IX1...and if I had to guess...she's leaning somewhere in the diesel...but I really have no idea..more my reaction is: she is something of a freak.

She showed a lot of intersex early on...and even now...on day 48. She is also wanting to turn over fast..started flushing her on day 45...but I don't think she'll flush deep extended. Looks like she'll finish up...55-60 days. Pretty fast...I like that.

Her flowers are kind of like arrow heads...not real big...but there are plenty...and they are white glittery resinous. Funky aroma. She has been partially pollinated.

^ This is the "2nd" Mox Mox IX1 mom. Nothing..but nothing wrong with her. Vigorous....productive...stinky..sticky...beautiful. She's on day 48...but I haven't begun to flush her yet. Few more days...then I'll kick her in that direction. She's a real machine. Dark green...showed intersex weeks 3-4 but has chilled. Very solid plant

* I had this thought to...taking one of those Killer Chem females...have one I topped just yesterday..tallest one out of the litter..and transplant her into a 5 gal smart pot...veg her a bit..then put her in

she'll be C99 dominant..pretty sure..be fun to get her in...tag her with this Mox Mox/Hell Hound dust. Wouldn't hurt anything...call it T.H.M. (Thrill. Hell. Mox.).......a tributary of Hell Mox

** I should call this Killer Chem IX1, Killer Chem IX2, and Cindy Kill Dog...something as there is no way I'm going to know what is what. Call this run "Thrill Kill".......that's how I'll label the beans I make on this run.

*** Funny how you can collect your genetics...and put them to good use. I couldn't imagine doing this...any other way. There are so many plants in there..so many things that can be realized

Been doing dawn patrol runs...cold morning starts...when the sun rising above the ridges...actually means something. Off trail this morning...took it one ridge too far..and couldn't find a way down the lee side of the hill. Deep cold filled drainages..overgrown..in monster brush...couldn't go low..couldn't stay high...had to reverse

,,,the reverse transverse being against the brush grain...gave me a good ripping...and more than a few smacks to the face. I finished in a blinded squint..due to..a brush smack to one eye...then 20 yards later..to the other eye. all beat up

*Harvested that real fast Hell Hound IX1 expression...day 56

^ This girl is gnarly. Flowers...as you can see..are not large..but they are plentiful and super skunk pungent. I've vaporized the early sample of this girl...and yes...we are very happy.

Fast...hyper sensitive (tweezers required)...

Partially pollinated (these beans are desirable to me)

I have no idea what genetics hooked up here...never seen this Hell Hound expression before

Pollination of the Pig

Winds continue to howl/haul down the canyons...ended up sleeping on a couch..in front of the fireplace until 3:30 in the morning..then to bed to be up at 6....had my headlamp with me..in preparation for power outs (thankfully haven't happened yet)

The dust does fly

^ The "Pig" expression Hell Hound IX1 day 28...before and after defoliation and partial pollination. A beast of a grower...prolific even. Still not sure which parent she will represent...but she looks like she'll be a quicker finisher...and a probable good yielder.

^Wired a couple of her bottom branches together...then using my good old paintbrush...dabbed her with the pollen grains of 6 males.

* This would be the 8th female pollinated. The count is now 5 Hell Hound IX1 and 3 Mox Mox IX1 mothers
