Perfect timing and the history of the Unknown Summer

Perfect timing and the history of the Unknown Summer

Last night....at the beginning of the indoor flower day cycle....I removed the two male Cleveland Sage

Hence....the perfect timing....as the 1st of the ball sacks began to open today. By days end I started harvesting pollen. Should be a short and sweet collection period. I love short term relationships....honeymoon junkie

How about these two Crungers...at day 40....girdles inflicted to start off flush...note the beautiful Cypress-like root mass....I vacuumed them out over a week ago....no ill effects...plants don't mind...quicker to drink? Whatever....I like looking at roots....I mean....they are a fucking cool function.

The Crunge= Karoline Krutch X Prune Juice

In this little bit of story telling...documented back in the pages of last year I grew out Summertime Rolls....the last crossing of my F1 Chem DD queen (Deliah was her name)....

Summertime Rolls= Chem DD X TFlux Highland

TFlux Highland= Flo x Chem DD X Highland Mexican x Blueberry

If you're interested....because I can not remember the circumstances....you can find the info here on the String. But she was a one and only....and still I made only the one run with her. I pollinated her throughly on two separate branches with Sweet Milk on one branch and Odessa on the other.

Sweet Milk= Gumblebum X LUI

Odessa= Casey Jones X Cindy Jones

Summertime Rolls was heavily pollinated in that session....I was more interested in seed than sinse. I was deliberately sloppy then...some branches were indirectly hit...pollen could have come from either. I'd say that the designated branches are pretty accurate....but pollen could have blended there as well.

You will see that I don't really care. I germed up a few beans from the indirectly hit branches....kept one female and labeled her "Unknown Summer".....her pops is either Sweet Milk or Odessa

At day 40....I'm growing her as a Sativa...she is still being fed fully. I bathed her...and crow picked her leaves...getting ready to switch her to full bloom blasting

I see the TFlux Highland....for sure know this flower structure in relation to more Indica dominant Flo. The coloring is not there though.....I'm thinking her pops is probably Odessa and that Odessa has some say on how things are going to look. All my Flo outcrosses have produced Bluing...but here...the Flo and Blueberry are heavily washed.

Plant disposition...this grow is really good exercise in the reading of disposition. Discipline the powers of observation....focus emotion into familiarity...observe but don't over think and in the end it will still be an unknown summer....unknown but fruitful?

Hmm...think I'll be chewing on some Romulan sacks later today. Great thread, Pablos, one of my favorites.

Glad to see your still on your breeding journey! Love the thread. Hmm...eating pollen sacks...now there's a new one...lol. When did you start girdling your girls? Heard of old timers doing this outdoors, but have yet to try it. Have you found any noticeable advantages using this method? Stay growing!

What up Dr P? I've been doing the girdles for....not sure...but maybe getting close to a year.

1. It's a harvest ritual....kicks off flush

2. I read a theory where it makes it more difficult or impossible for plants to take up any more nutrients from the medium. Not sure that is true....and have no way of proving it.

3. It's old skool

4. I really like to stress my plants at the end....girdles, vacuuming off layers of coco, White Fly and starvation seem to beat them up pretty good....lol....these Marijuana plants are designed for abuse.

5. As an art project....exposing roots and stripping flesh off the bone is visually appealing to me.

Advantages: questionable....but it definitely adds stress and in some cases (plant dependent) may force a quicker finish...again that would be difficult for me to actually prove.

The breeding projects....coming along nicely....I'm getting predictable and desirable results. The quality and variety are getting positive reviews from friends who have sampled the latest stuff.

Me as a smoker and the test grower of my work....my own hardest critic....feel that I'm coming into my own. I'm proud of my selections and have no shame in saying that.

I'll post you up some pictures of Candy Loving as she comes along in flower (she is around day 30)....she has some of your selection stuff in her.....

Candy Loving= F1 Chem DD X ELEBX1 x ChemDBX2 (IX1)

Named that cross after a Playboy Playmate from the late 70's....childhood stuff

That's so cool man. So many folks have helped me out...it pleases me that I can motivate others into taking a look into what I'm talking about. Full circle....full tilt...fullness

Day #2 of collecting pollen from the Cleveland Sage males....one boy is dropping harder than the other....but I'm getting a good amount off both. I'd say....by the end of tomorrow and I should have what I need and can compost my helpers. Short and sweet...perfect

This is the last plant that I will be flushing OD for a while....she is now at day 61 and stinks like a rotten skunk...I'm flushing but didn't girdle this one

Chem DD incrossed once

I-HOP Grape Krush= Straw Dog F2 (SCreme'N Dawg) X Grape Krush

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth and don't wonder why....

These girls are all excellent fun to grow. Probably will surprise a few to know...the predominant aroma on an amazingly uniform population...is that of bubblegum. It's bubblegummy.....I think of bubblegum when working with them....no fuel...some berry....but bubblegum. It's constantly drifted into my breezes.

I love the smell and taste of bubblegum....as in gum. These appear to me....as the most bubblegum smelling plants I've ever cultivated. That's my gift horse....the rabbit is drawing me lines....has drawn me lines to this deep hole. I'm pretty impressed with the I-HOP Grape Krush

....these are 70 day plants that pack flowers in thick and roomy clusters all over the frame of the plants. Branches are flexible....require staking of some sort after bud set. Yields are hefty. Resin is everywhere.

I've grown or growing...8 (10 12) or so I-HOP GKs....none have thrown any nanners.....even when well abused. Easy plants to cultivate. You can be dumb as a stump and still have a good run. No complications.

Kudos once again to CBF and DJ Short for making my life easier...

A stump is a stump. Some folks are just stumps...I would suppose it a state of being?

Yup...I gots bang for the high buck beans out of the males. Splendid though they were (and still are in these outcrosses)....their sister was mediocre and I haven'y bothered nor can remember much about any beans I made with her.

Funny....I never really planned to revolve around the Grape Krush males. It simply came out that way. Really can't remember making all the I-HOP plants (using so many males...Highend, BS 2.2, Grape Krush)....but it's documented in the Pet Project thread over that a way...DJ/Legends forum

There may be more crosses I made with the GK males....I can't recall at this time....too much smokey this morning...

you pull into a favorite haunt....to find the trailhead parking lot full of runners belonging to a club. Putting on a little race of 10 miles...all the amenities afterwards....coolers of cold beer, food, athletic and good looking peeps to chat with

parking away and in the back of the parking lot...you tighten your gear, ritual zincing of the face...tape a toe....knock out a controlled clean set of 35 push ups to get the blood flow going...stretch out the quads and hammy....up comes a club member for some Q and A

50 and 100 mile runners in the club....you local? You know all the trails? "of course man and it's a cool thing you peeps are doing" you an ultra runner? how far you going today? where you heading? "nah dude....never ran ultras....heading through that saddle yonder for a 13-15 mile jaunt" have a good one...come over and meet the club if you want. "thanks"

The run starts with a hill....above the parking lot...so all the runners having finished their race and drinking their beers cheer your ass up the hill. Checking you out....just as you did them rifling through their group looking for the fast ones...the strong ones...you can see it in their eyes as they look back

Like a game pit dog will keep scratching to punish his adversary....you want to punish anyone you can run down on the trail. It's fucking sick....the way competitive nature arises. You can hang off a slower runner....make them draft you mentally......let them hear you snot and breathe..listen to them as they cave in to the pace....break their asses off up hill.....never down...up hill is where you break them off.

It's rude to hang off too close...but their is a proper distance where you know and they know....make or break...most will step aside or fein a need to piss.....or maybe that piss is necessary I don't know...but it is as much a mental game as a physical one. It's only worth while if you have a game runner....otherwise just bump around them (don't be a power tripping asshole)...and god damn pray you don't find someone dogging your ass.....it is as heart breaking as a false top to have your game stolen...to lose your soul

All these thoughts went through your head as you stopped and smoked 1/2 a Ma Kettle joint over top the parking lot....warmed up after the 1st cheer filled hill and "too high to die" chilled your head and ran solid....alone....going ghost over other runner's sign

I'll give props all day long to dudes that have helped me along the way. ClearBarbedFunk makes sound breeding selections....and has access to outstanding genetics. He has been a good friend to me.

When mixing Blues and Strawberries....obviously Short is the master Bluesman....and CBF spent mucho time working his Strawberry side. All said in the I-HOP GK cross....it appears that CBF's work has control for the most part. I do see the Chem D clone influence as well....but not in a domineering function.

I've yet to stumble across a phenotype that shouts Blueberry. I was not looking for the BB...I was looking for something different and that is part of the reason I'm stoked on the I-HOP GK....though influenced by the Straw Dog it is different than the 3 or 4 females I used in the entire I-HOP project.

My advice (if anyone cares)....give CBF some biz. I paid $40 for the Straw Dog F2s.....that's crazy if you pay attention to what the dude has done. It's not just a mashing of expressions....there was work put into them. Well spent $40.

O....I just read his description (I save such nonsense) and he notes that his male SCreme brings all sweet aromas****including strawberry and bubblegum. He his dead nuts correct....that's where the bubblegum is coming from. They do smell unreal....

Cleveland Sage = Prune Juice X Hummingbird

Prune Juice= Querkle X Grape Krush

Hummingbird= Kali Mist x Chem D Kush X Grape Krush

Ma Kettle= Casey Jones X Grape Krush

I-HOP Grape Krush= Straw Dog F2 X Grape Krush

I pollinated branches on a I-HOP GK (right) and a Ma Kettle (left)....both at day 28 flower

Here: a Casey leaning (left front) Ma Kettle (all but one of the Ma Kettles have leaned more to the Casey Jones mom) starting flush at day 55 and a typical flushing (right front) I-HOP Grape Krush at day 68 have been placed in front of the pollinated plants.....showing what the plants will look like as they age in their progression

Ma Kettle

I-HOP Grape Krush

....Yeah I don't know how the Server Fund works but I don't relate it to Karma. If you are putting your beans on an open market (even as a donation)...you are accepting and opening the door to all the growers out there to judge your work. I have no interest in being judged....but if I'm to be judged I'd rather be paid in cash not in Karma....just how I am.
