5 Selfies

5 Selfies

^ the 5 beans I found in a wispy lower bud..Queen Moxie selfs. Found them last week. Germinating them this week. They come as pale gray seeds..no mottling.

* continuing on with the concept that all self seeds from the Queen Mox clone are prized and should be used to further explore and progress the Mox Mox line of reasoning. To me...a primo female expression who..on occasion..makes a lone or an isolated patch of seeds...is to be looked upon as giving...blessed...desired

as mentioned: I had not found any self beans since last summer. this little cluster of 4...and then one other isolated on a different flower...stoked me out

>>>>>>>>>>>>took in a 16 mile run yesterday. Ran in rain turning into slush..turning into snow as I achieved the snow contour line..higher up on the hill...fresh powder clinging to me and everything else. some silent running..made more muffled by almost complete white outs...tracing my way up up down down

failed to let go. failed. only a couple miles into the run...cutting through a steady drizzle..sliding in the mud...I hypnotized myself and disappeared from my body. Probably lasted less than 30 seconds. Didn't feel anything...didn't see anything..could only hear my feet working the trail...

then I failed. I became fearful because I couldn't remember where I was or where I was going. My mind took over...started rationalizing and hurriedly decided that we needed to know where we were. out i came...out of the dream...back into the binding mires..reasonings

Hows the new clown shoes? I bet they feel good

I've not had an issue with them. For as much stack height as they have..surprisingly..they are stable. Haven't turned over an ankle in them yet. The added layer of padding does allow for some harder braking on down hills. I can lean back and let my heels drag harder than I can in my other shoes..and

the extra padding also has a rebound sensation..which took me a little bit to adjust to...but yeah...sometimes the shoes kick back off rock/roots...and after getting used to that..I really like it. I can anticipate...more or less...when they are going to do it..and by doing so..can actually get an extended bounce out of them.

wearing the maximized padded shoes..is liberating in the sense that...I feel like I can plow through anything without taking a hit. They don't change they way I run..my form stays the same..still landing mid foot...but they eliminate any paranoia about shattering an arch or slamming a heel...when hauling ass down hill with reckless abandon. I aim my feet in the direction I want them to go..then pillow my way along...even if the line is directly through a horrendous rock garden...doesn't matter..the shoes absorb up the rocks like they are nothing.

in races going 50 miles and beyond...I can see their value. Feet shouldn't take such a battering.

* all this being said...yes..but it must be understood that I'm coming off years of running in hybrid minimalist and minimalist shoes. My form was designed by running in no/or minimal padding..which tends to make one a perfectionist about one's form. I'd not suggest that someone should start out in maximized padding...just the opposite...start out in no padding or light padding..until mechanics are sound..and the proper muscles built up. Otherwise...the heavy padding will be...in the long run...detrimental to staying uninjured. The padding allows one to force issues with the terrain or to be able to run in poor form...that's the bad the padding can do.

anyways...I'm happy with the shoes. I can see why they are popular in the ultra community. I'll be rotating between the Altra Olympus and the Altra Lone Peak 2.0...have nothing bad to say about either model. Both work well for me. I'll be racing anything over 50 miles in the Olympus..as yeah I do believe...the extra 10mm of padding will come into play going those distances.

I know how my feets sometimes can feel after a maraton so i can understand why a few mm of shoes maybe could be great on longer runs :) But i still belive the feets could be used to run such long runs without..some peeps do..and like they say..try put a few mm sole on top of an egg and give it a hit with a hammer..will it do any diffrent? offcause..i cant say anything about what a few mm will do on runs further then 47 km..i knewer did that yet ..hopefully i will find out my self one day...keep running champ

no break 'til sunday. day after day now..2-3+hrs a day on the trails..spare hrs eating and on the mat rolling balls....rolling foam..stretching

running down Oriflamme Canyon again tomorrow..with other people.....don't know how far I'll go..but at least the hill down and up..16 miles. probably tack on more this time. Running on straight day..be it...the 4th day. had tuesday off..ran Monday...can't remember the days before monday..hitting grinding mowing the days down

the feel of April not March..a dawning sun..on my every step. the days are becoming numbered now...counting down...when to start tapering down...how to drive my way into this string of races...i do not know

so..like tomorrow...i go out looking for them...running parts of the course...forcing the issue that there shall not be: delusions 2nd guessing doubting worry weakness. crush them. set them in their place. put my feet into your surface...grind away at your hills..sink into the holes..rise to top out...then extend along a ridge

I like these down then ups into the desert. exposure and expansion

EDIT (later) : after pondering upon it...i realize my own bullshit. races are the same as any other day on the trails...going to fuel the body..lace up my shoes..and go. go until there is a finish line....they say stop..and it's over. nothing really to think about there. stay on my feet..stay on the course..roll the hips..preserve myself in perpetual motion....breathe...fuel..go...cover distance..breathe go breathe go

yeah,im psyched to see both progressions, both in the garden and on the trails...i tend to babble more about the bikes here since you're one of the few people that i know understands what its all about....rode with one of the shop guys the other day,had no trouble keeping up on the long climb we did,we even talked most of the way up the hill so it was a nice pace....i dunno if he was holding back or anything or if it was just a mellow ride, which im guessing must be nice for him on occasion considering the other groups of people he rides with....no one had to get all testosteroned out...

but otherwise, been crushing on the hills, picked off two people a few days ago,i know i took a solid 5 minutes on the first dude since he left the parking lot ahead of me and i reeled him in at about mile 2,the second guy i picked off in the middle of the last long grunter bit of the climb so i had been climbing steadily for 30 minutes at that point, presuming we took the same route down i bet him by 10 minutes at least...

new goal....200 miles and 10000 feet of climbing in a week....

Finished my week out...

Finished my week out...

...not in a huge way...though in the way..I'm filling in the miles. This week closing out with 64.30 miles...today off..tomorrow off..then a long run Tuesday (around 25 miles)...then 12-15 mile runs the rest of the week. Want to close out this coming week with between 70-80 miles...gage the schedule around that. The week after..probably more of the same..70-80 mile week....then start tapering down for the race.

sounds about right. race is April 11th. Rest a week after...train a bit the following week..then run the next race April 25th...rest a bit..train a bit until the....yeah I know..it's meaningless unless it's you out there....as my center of focus is now narrowed down with the blinders..it's an obsession full blown into sun dancing ritual. I don't care about much else right now. everything seems so big in front of me

^ wow. I've done some shit. done some shit I can't even remember doing. From 2009.

Jaundice IX1 (f2) on the right and Flaundice f1 on the left. I was going through some of my seed collection. I remember making the 2nd generation Jaundice...WRONG...I remember a male..but don't remember making the incross...or even making the 1st generation. It was a strange time. I started missing bubblegum weed yesterday...got me to thinking about what I had left

Jaundice = Bogbubble X Chem DD (1st generation made '08. 2nd generation made '09)

The Flaundice (best name I could come up with today) seeds I found in two different sandwich baggies stuffed into a vacuum bag with about 20 other baggies of seeds...all sealed up..at the bottom of a container (in the fridge)

the baggies were labeled : TFlux X Jaundice and dated 03/09 and 05/09 with one describing the mom as a Flo leaning subject and the other baggie described as containing a more "thick" mother plant. Also had the Jaundice male name on one of the baggies (the Don or something like that) which I do remember. He was a beast...I even cloned him.

* It would be the same male used to make the Jaundice IX1 generation...can't remember using any other males..but it was a long time ago. who knows. If I use a certain stand out male..I usually label it as so

Flaundice = TFlux X Jaundice

TFlux = Original Flo X Chem DD

Jaundice = Bogbubble X Chem DD

** Chem DD males used to make TFlux and Jaundice were the same

*** I took Flaundice seeds from both baggies (mothers) and mixed them together in the shot glass

Who the fuck knows about these things? The seeds are not getting any younger...and well...these crosses are well related to the current pools I'm working in....not that far away from Mox Mox or Mox Krox..basically just adding in the bubblegum genetics...but other than that...the same Chem DD males sparked all of this perfect mess way back when '08

I'm not confused. really. can't remember all the work...but I'm not confused. A revisit is in order..so gods willing...these beans will germ up into something. sometimes it works for me...sometimes not

...it's almost spring. it's almost do or die time in my racing endeavors...so there is much energy being created and expended. Seems like chaos is at the door (always)....so fuck it...good time to fire up some stoned out concepts from a previous decade. I'd still love to find a sour apple bubblegum or a condensed sweet milk bubblegum or a vanilla bubblegum...anything over the top sweet would be fine

I even found a cross I made with Gumblebum and LUI (Sweet Milk...into the 2nd generation even) and also found Sweet Milk X Honey White....all kinds of indica dominant stuff..I made...probably looking for something sweet bubblegum related. wow again...it's all vague in my head...but the beans are there. I must have been going off like a top back then..yeah..think i was. getting down foundations

might be I have to look back in some my other threads to figure some of this stuff out

EDIT: I just now remember growing out a "Flaundice"...believe it was documented in Pablos' Pet Project (Short forum). I remember one plant (I have not checked the thread nor will there be pix...deleted account) that turned out pretty cool...real funky looking. Grown in lower temps...she turned black. It was a scouting run..taking a look.....I never got serious about the cross.

EDIT AGAIN: turns out I flowered out 2 Flaundice. It was back in 2009. one leaned to Flo and the other to the Bogbubble..it was at the time I started renouncing clones. they were never cloned. believe everything was taking a back seat to the Flo Highland and TFlux Highland breeding project..during that phase. Definitely some good things can be found in the Flaundice cross (o...don't know wbout that name..be it a working name or not)...fair shake should be given

rereading some of my earlier stuff. Christ I was growing out Haze hybrids, High Mex hybrids, Blue hybrids, Casey hybrids, Chem DD hybrids and all kinds of heavy indica dominants..all at the same time...and breeding that hodgepodge all together. How I didn't fuck that all up...I can't claim to know..but after speed reading a scroll of thread pages (pet project thread)...it does bring back the plants/crosses and makes my bean collection have some order again. I'm still me...and my basic concepts are sound.

Another bag of beans I found was labeled Route 666 (what???)...which I now have researched and discovered:

Route 666 = Mox Mox X blended pollen Purple Bastard Haze f2, Triesel, and Casey Jones f2

^ yeah I remember that Mox Mox female (called her Easy)...she was the only Mox Mox plant in existence for a long time. It was her final run when I hit her with all that dust. Some day I'm going to germ some of those up. some potent genetics in those beans...not to mention: variety. to say...if one were stuck with only a bag of seeds...they'd not be a bad place to start building a minor empire

Hi champ...lots of miles ya running on week , great work...How old are you Jericho ? u must be 35 + ? Imho all them bad ass runners is always +35...I think it some to do with the time one need to spend 64 mile each week is many hours imho...im jealous..My job takes all the time but one better be happy to have one...or do one really? Its the material I thats say that..but this I is such a big deal in this modern world..Im running it out of the system ..hopefully

all important

all important

1. Time

2. enough money to have Time to train

3. desire to spend Time training

4. enough sense to understand Time does not wait...it is made

The top dogs in the field will probably be under 35. There would be more of them...but ultra running is a sport that requires a lot of time and discipline. Many younger people are not going to want to spend the time (or have it) or have the maturity/dedication level it takes to train so much. That's my opinion. True...a younger body takes the pounding better...recovers faster...but it's not just about the body...no...the body is just a piece of the effort. The overall strength in an ultra runner will come down to his gameness. The willingness to hurt and suffer...willingness to sacrifice.

* at age 49....I don't need to work so much....but it does cost me money to train..as much as...I do. I could be working more..and making more money...and I will when I need to..but I'm kind of over the whole career is #1 thing. That ended years ago. Did it....over it. Gave it up at 40.

** If you have a spouse...and you want to get serious about running ultra races...she better be understanding and supportive. I turned my wife on to trail running over 2yrs ago. She has stuck with it...and so..has a greater understanding of what I'm doing. Without a supportive spouse...or if you have a needy spouse...forget it....good luck. It's an independent sport..in the end...you must be independent.

My wife is way cool...has always let me do what I want...and I've always let her do what she wants...makes life easier. Otherwise...why bother? She was right beside me when I ran amuck and lived crazy....and right beside me when I gave it all up...and went in a totally different direction. Our lives parallel but we still do our own thing...independent of each other. Neither of us is clingy

FINALLY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

^ yes...finally. The trifoliate Old Time Moonshine. I'm putting this thing into flower tomorrow. I'm assuming it is a female...I honestly still can not sex it. I've been vegging the fucker forever and a day.

* this is the only OTM that I cloned. Cloned very nicely.

** I posted up a picture of its albino infused branch....but other than that....it has very little in the way of Blue mutations. Slowest vegging plant I've had in a long time...but it has been my favorite expression in the batch..since...yeah...way back to day #1. Well...we'll see how it goes....maybe it's magic..maybe it's shit

^ The Queen Moxie clone flanked by her daughters. Cyclone on her left and Shy-La on her right. These plants too...are ready to be put into flower...probably within the next week. They are their own plants...the mother and each daughter are unlike each other.

a day in a life

EDIT: I was thinking about when I renounced cloning (2009)....when I let go of all of my foundation mothers..and relied solely on seed made from them. I was thinking that if I could have any of those plants back...which one of them would it be. I concluded that there was only one that I wish I still had today: Highend f1 "Sugar"...the girl that never produced any offspring. She was the best Blueberry plant I've ever had. Never had anything like her before or since. She is my one regret...biggest mistake ever..in my program. I fucked that up. I'd pay someone for some of her dry flowers...or for a clone...but alas..I never passed her to anyone else. She was only designed for a speciality garden anyways...your average schmoe would not have wanted her.

Taken out of context ;) But i dont agree on this  Its a lifestyle:peacock:

Yes..that's true. It is a lifestyle. It's a discipline. It's a pathway.

Diet, Gardening, and Running are all connected to the silence of sanity

I'd imagine an enlightened person would be one...who is never seen or heard from.....has no view or opinion.

has made the realization that:

there is nothing to teach or to learn. nothing to press upon the world

i was talking with one of the mountain bikers last night after tuesday night ride,i was a little tired and crampy after riding, and after the sun had gone down i was getting cold...out of calories and no body fat and all that...anyway,he said, just throw your bike in the back of the truck,i'll give you a ride home..i explained that if my bike is in operable condition and im even remotely able to make it home under my own power that im going to ride...then he said something about what an admirable eco-ethic or some such rot and i had to correct him...im not really concerned about a cars impact on the world,i just dont enjoy driving is all,or even being in a car for that matter...i do however enjoy riding a bike...and really when you think about it,i expended 2000 calories to go ride circles in the desert simply for my own enjoyment...so really a six of half a dozen of the other type of thing....

oh yeah, climbing really well lately,i has looking at my speed profiles for the climbs and my pace was almost perfectly flat for the entire ascent each time, didnt even really break a sweat until the third time up but my speed was still exactly the same as the other two climbs...
