holy fucking shit

holy fucking shit

killer plant and killer stories.

* most definitely swinging a sledge or a maul is about form...shit..it's an art form to be able to let gravity and the tool...do their job. even now..at 137 pounds..I can swing that 12 pound maul for several hrs...with only quick bowl and water breaks..maybe eat a snack...pretty steady. I can split wood like a motherfucker...years of reading the lines in the wood..knowing where to smack them. I'm also a hell of a digger...master of the picks, dig bars, and shovels.

I've learned to be a precise animal...do not waste movements. Again...goes really well with the endurance running. I think of it as training.

** That cross looks sick. I couldn't get into just straight Prune Juice..plants were too small...too slow...but always I think...good for outcrossing...even though...the Prune Juice outcrosses I've made..I've never taken serious. maybe I'll look back and see what I did...know I crossed to Joy Division (Killer Chemdog X Cindy Jones)..because I saw those beans the other day..don't remember making the cross though. anyway...

wow...the Dcong might help the juice out. could be some interesting resin profiles.

*** Uncle's story fits right into my theme:

Ended up running 16-17 miles instead of 20...as surprisingly there were shit loads of hikers and mountain bikers in the canyon. Surprising because of the time of day I was out there...and because the weather was cool (60 degrees) and windy (red flag warnings)

so...

on every technical uphill or downhill...there were people. and when there are people..I fall into my rule of hitting the section extra hard. Never had each of the most challenging sections with people on them...usually it will be on one or two..but today..it was each of them. steep narrow sections...total rock gardens..Pro Cams everywhere..better check YouTube..as I've already found myself on there in the past

example: coming up a steep pitch 8 miles or so into the hill...there was 20-30 scouts (or maybe church kids..all boys)...kids and their masters...standing alongside the trail. A bunch of them were cheering and others were yelling "we believe in you!!!"...and I mean

what the fuck was I to do?? Get on the gas..bounce off every rock..take the steep inside corners...blast the section

Of course...running like that...is not the best for distance. Decided since I was going to be showing off...best cut the distance to maintain more power.

The entire run was like that...passing mountain bikers up and down..trading the lead back and forth...running with total aggression. Even the last mile was full out battling for position...finished with an all out sprint to the parking lot

lot of fun. I run my best when I'm being watched...must be an egomaniac...or maybe because it's such an isolation sport...not sure. Think it's important to represent the sport...as best...I can. bottom line

whatever gets me up and down mountains...I say

To be in your head when you spot a Boy Scout troop. That some funny shit.

I've been reading a lot recently. I purchased PIHKAL and TIHKAL on your suggestions. I drank some mushroom tea three weeks ago. Prolly around 5grams of penis envy. What I consider a heroic dose. I was able to face some serious issues that I have been compartmentalizing. Bless entheogens

Back to reading, I've been reading ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOOS NEST

What a great read ;-)

Once I was rebuilding a switchback on a wilderness trail in the Sierra Nevada and a Boy Scout troop marched pass. The scoutmaster was bringing up the rear and he stopped to chat. As soon as the last of his wards disappeared around the corner he pulled out a joint and asked if I wanted to smoke. LOL! Said he was glad to find me because he hadn't had anybody to smoke with. I asked if it had been a problem finding enough privacy to take a toke. His reply was that nobody follows you when you're carrying a shovel and a roll of toilet paper. After he went up the trail I really tricked out that switchback!

Yeah...I couldn't believe how big their group was. I could hear them from a pretty good distance...sounded like a school yard. It was a weird day...as there should not have been that many people out. I came across not only that large group..but also a large (maybe even 20) group of hikers....shit loads of mountain bikers..and other assorted smaller groups of backpackers...but nobody on horseback..and no other runners.

I'm going to be working on trails this year. For some races it's required that the racers put in trail work. I'm a member of a club also..which has a trail maintenance program. Have a great deal of experience when it comes to building/maintaining trails. Many a project have I been...a part of. There are trails everywhere out here...some licit some illicit

Flushing Moxie Lean

Flushing Moxie Lean

plants are hung by wire to ceiling rafters...some are wire pulled towards the wall but..all and all...there is no way they stand on their own.

^ couple of Moxie...early 50s>>few days into flush...starting their lean toward the bulbs. Without wire...they'd be folded onto the floor..but with wire:

beginning in their late 40s the weight of the flowers bend them down...a rather...natural thing...with very little guidance from me. As they bend...the flower angles change and the middle sections get opened up

I'll provide a bend here and there...cut leaves away..about all I have to do to keep an open/even canopy.

* I've taken to starting plants in flower in their 1.7 gal veg squares...then transplanting them into 5 gal smart pots after stretch (around 3wks)...saves me space and I can't see where I'm losing yield.

** Shy-La and Cyclone were put into flower yesterday. I have that 'real good' feeling...man that would sure be nice to fulfill a trilogy in one run. The Mox Mox queen and her daughters

*** The air here is very dirty right now. The winds have kicked up so much drought dust...pushing it high into the sky..can almost see the ions bouncing off each other...off particles

So... she's naturally predisposed to growing with vert bulbs and grail smoke.

That's a bad Bitch!

I just framed a new room next to my current one. Fan and filter installed, just need to hang a couple pieces of sheet-rock and a door. I love running the bare bulbs but my current room is too tight. New room is plenty big and old room will be for veg. And, I'm tired of crawling under my canopy to water plants.
I think the main reason I always grow from seed is my current veg situation is lame. That's all about to change. Too many keepers have passed through my hands these past few years.

lol,you would love my room,it all about no more frickin crawling around...its 12x12 feet but im only using about a 10x4 area thats lit,its 2/3 buffer space to keep temps stable and have plenty of space to work....plus a 6 foot wide door so i can just wheel a 4x4 screen and plant right in or out...
plus im working on another 8x6 room that all framed out, just adding the ducting and lamp hangers today, should be all buttoned up by the end of the week...2x400w hps and 2x125w cfls for lighting....good spot for seed runs out of the main room to try stuff out...plus i want to take the hottest part of the summer off from growing if i can and go ride my bikes...need to make $$$ to do that...

HAha, Unc I'm a glutton for punishment. I've been crammed in a 5x7 for the last five years. I fill her up almost every grow- like a jackass. I love variety though and like to flower out a few of each strain when possible.
In all I'm about 14'x16' now. 5x7 & 9x7 side by side with the rest for working and alone time. I put a sweet chair and ottoman in there as well. I brew as well, so the fridge outside of the room has 3 taps in it. Works well with the chair set up

Couple of things

Couple of things

^ the scoreboard reads: Old Time Moonshine F2> 7 from 11 germinated but 2 of the 7 shared the same starter plug..so the strongest seedling was selected whilst the other was...discarded..the hand of doom swathing down

imagine that. Being a little seedling under T5 light spectrum...rooting down beside another...keeping each other company..soaking up the light sprays and nutrients...all systems a go

only to be kilt...deader than shit....no apparent reason...other than objective selection. the snap of the tap. You can hear it

anyway 6 is the number for OTM. The 1st seedling up was that trifoliate specimen...thus far it remains the most powerful. What am I doing with these moonshines? I don't even know...don't have any plan..none

* Found out yesterday that I'll be running my first 50 mile trail race in mid January. I can't understand 50 miles yet...don't even know how to look at it...or why really...I feel compelled to do these things to myself.

It's a selfish sport. takes away time and energies. to go distances one must train distances

shit gets sacrificed. Feel like I'm going to rip myself apart this year. Going to keep running these races until I can't scratch the line anymore...or my will is gone. '15 is going to break me out or break me down. kind of how I'm seeing it...as I can't know now..how to make myself better. got to keep charging through walls...hitting distances over and over until I understand...get it all down

Congrats on the race. I have a feeling 2015 is going to be a break out year for you, me as well. No breaking down but building up. Becoming stronger and taking on more than previously imagined.

This community would not exist with anonymity. With that being said, I've been conversing with people on here and overgrow for 15 years. Haha I guess what I'm getting at is. I'd love to follow your races. Next year you gonna be running like a banshee all over the desert. It be cool to pull up your race times

food...it comes down to food and how well you can stay topped up and still move and stay hydrated and electrolyted up,its tough enough on a bike and i get to coast sometimes...when i did that 60 mile ride my phone app said i burned over 5000 calories in 6 hours,i was tapped out for days afterwards...

Fueling is most everything. I'm going to either use a drop bag at one of the aid stations or just rely on what I can carry on my belt and the aid station fuels. Have not gotten that far along in my planning.

Not having anyone crew for me or using a pacer. Just going to go out and do it. Told my wife I didn't want her to be there...told her not to tell anyone about the race. Otherwise...with her FaceBook page..I'll have a bunch of noise coming at me...all good you know...but I don't need inflations. I don't mind the social shit after the deal is done..then....there...feast away people. So far I've showed up at races alone...raced alone...finished alone...in my own head of glory or satisfaction or whatever

It's 50 miles....footfalls and numbers...a distance I've yet to go. I imagine it's going to be a long painful day...but that's as far as I'm letting my imagination go. I expect that the day after...I'll know a lot more about what 50 miles is all about.

When you are around people who have run 50...62...100 mile races many times...you realize your distance virginity. It's humbling....and I'm still in awe of many of these racers. I'm over being in awe though...I need to be there myself...in those circles. One wall at a time....still say..it must be somewhat fueled by the ego I'm always wrestling with. I still do not understand the worth of ego...truly I do not.

I've broken down and ordered a GPS watch. I'm back on clock time again. It must be this way...because yeah...now times are a factor. I've accepted it. I'm running against the clock.

* January, March, April, and May.....those months are scheduled so far. I have at least one race in each of those months...either registered for or awaiting registration day. I'm really planning on using races as training....with lighter work done in between. For sure April has a 50K and then a 50M within 2wks of each other...thinking that's good spacing..every other week end...a race.

turns out theres 2 different 50+ mile mountain bike races around here,i should have about 8 -9 months to get ready for the first one,and over a year for the second, for sure i will race the local short track cross country race, but i think if im going to race theres plenty of 50-100 mile endurance races between here and arizona, probably plenty of 24 hour events as well...from what i can tell, just keeping a 10 mph average is enough to do well, thats still pretty tough on dirt, and i can only do that for so long at this point...

Unc- outside of riding, what type of other training are you doing?

I finished both races in the top 1/4 of the field....but call them incomplete because I didn't race them up to some set goals...actually though:

* the 1st race (50K) I met my goals...just didn't run..as well as..I could have. I didn't know what to expect really..and I made several mistakes on fueling and pace..burned fuel where I shouldn't have

* the 2nd race (26.5 miles was the real milage) I had a goal to not have to power hike hills...and to not fade during the last few miles. But...I did fade out more than I expected and I did have to power hike some of the last hills. The race ended with a steep climb. Actually..I won a Black Diamond headlamp (cool,,because I needed a new light) for my finish in that race...but on a personal level...I was a little pissed about not fulfilling my goals.

leads me to: Training

as I mentioned...because I'm learning..now..how to race and going new distances...and preparing to go even further distances..I've changed my training.

Have a 20 mile tough run today...my 2nd long run of the week. In between the long runs...I'm doing strength training...and running shorter runs. Lots of hills

* taken to wearing 5 pound ankle weights when I'm at home...doing all my pull ups and dips..various leg lifts...etc while wearing them. The added 10 pounds has a drastic effect on the hip flexors...hell...on everything

cool cool cool...enjoy yourself.
Thx for sharring .. I will step my training up a lil ---we have a 50 miles run I dk s if this 50 K run turns out great , personal goals ya know, then i will try that 50 miles..My 4 Marathon was a PR Breaker. 3 hours 52 min :tiphat:
today i took 13km on an hour..thats my new speed training rute :)

none...i dont really do anything even vaguely like training, just ride the bikes for mile after mile...except for the short course race next fall im not really trying to win any of these races, just doing it more to support and be involved in the local cycling scene...

Snakes in Eyes

Snakes in Eyes

Pabs, if I may, what are you eating for T-day?
I'm kinda loaded and this question just crossed my mind.

And 50 miles... Bad Ass.

^ caught snakes in eyes syndrome. made this stuff a few days ago. Pure Queen Moxie..did 2 different runs back to back for the bubble

not usually smoking much hash..as we all probably know..I make it more for the wife...but today...been using my wand and a bowl to melt down pieces off the serpents. incredibly high all this day

has the world passed plain old bubble hash by?

I still save up my trim and freeze it submerged in water..in 2 gal lidded buckets until I feel like making the mud...netting the gold

For dinner I ate:

Sweet potatoes (something I eat almost daily)

Sugar Bear pumpkin (from neighbor's garden)

Beet greens steamed (from my garden)

Pinto and Black beans (something I eat almost daily)

Tea (hot with canned coconut milk and maple syrup added. few cups through the day)

baked pumpkin seeds (from the pumpkin used for its meat)

bread

Pro Bar (dessert)

* Haven't run since last Sunday. Changing up my training and taking a couple/few weeks off running. I haven't taken more than 4 consecutive days off since last December (when I rolled my ankle)...so

yeah...I'm experimenting with some extended time off before this next race. I'm going to concentrate on stretching and entire body strength training in lieu of being on the trails. Give my feet some time off...and heal up some aches...as I'm sure..there are many little tears and stresses exposing themselves..at..any given time

It's going to be a long year...I'm putting a lot on my plate. I need to think endurance and distance all the time. keep my eye on the ball..as this year unfolds..the races come up

** bringing my weight back up 8-10 lbs. My core has been thickening the last couple months...I'm up from a steady 137 lbs to 141 lbs. This is a deliberate action on my part...started last June to quest my weight back up. Most every pound I'm putting back on should be muscle. It takes some time to build that much muscle onto my frame...I'd predict a year.

Feel that for ultra running...it's better to carry more weight..rather than being as light as possible. Ultra distances on trails...over mountains..has different body requirements....than say...running marathons on streets. I've noticed there are not that many super lean/boney ultra runners.

focusing much on building myself up from the real light body weight...to a more solid/powerful torque frame. Seeking my personal balance between power, endurance, speed, durability...that sweet spot where it all comes together..and can stay..preserved

now into that stage where I'm working back up to where I believe I need to be...to be the most effective. Never ending experimentation on the body/training/diet concepts

*** had my project ride out of the garage yesterday. Blew out some dust on the highways..then gave her a bath. Had me contemplating the similarities between building a hot rod..and building a racing body. american steel to american flesh...same exact age...though she has way less of her original parts..than me. It's the same exact shit..turning wrenches...figuring out problems...twisting screws..checking fluids...listening to noises...in tune to temperatures

wondering what the fuck? what now? what is it you want? where are we going?
