Last week, I had the pleasure of joining @Chevy cHaze and @TheUnbaldedGuy once again at this year’s ICMAG Cup in Barcelona. Chevy told me we’d be sharing the apartment with another colleague named Gypsy — and I didn’t think much of it.
@TheUnbaldedGuy and I arrived late in the evening, while Chevy and @Gypsy Nirvana were already busy checking out the cup samples. We joined in, had a friendly chat, and later that night, Gypsy was the first to claim a mattress spot in the living room. The room had a glass sliding door facing the hallway, and since I was the last one heading to bed, I quietly closed the door so Gypsy could get some rest.
Well, turns out… that wasn’t the best move.
In the middle of the night, poor Gypsy woke up with a full bladder only to realize that the sliding glass door had jammed
- completely stuck and wouldn’t budge.
After some fiddling, rattling, and eventually calling for help, he managed to wake up the others. Together, they got the door open again.
Meanwhile, I was sleeping like a baby and didn’t notice a thing.
The next morning, they told me the whole story, and I just went:
“Oh... yeah, that might have been me.”
Gypsy, thankfully blessed with classic British humor, laughed and shouted:
“Oh you little Gremlin! You locked me in!”
Not a bad way to get to know someone — and that’s how I earned the nickname @glassdoorgremlin .
We ended up having a fantastic time at the cup and spent a great week together. I also had the lovely opportunity to get to know Gypsy better — a true British gentleman with a great sense of humor and even better stories. It’s something I really appreciate, because legends like that don’t come around every day.
Now back home in good ol germany, i still giggle about the fun we had last week!
