A VERY STANKY GARDEN

A VERY STANKY GARDEN

Well I got my fathers day present a little early, so I'm gonna post this now and let ya see what I've been up to in the garden. I have 9 plants: 3 BurmaBerry ( Burmese x Shiskaberry ) 3 Gypsys Magical Mystery Mix from Sagarmantha, who knows what they are, they're the runts so far, and 3 Bonzo from Swan Song Seeds hope ya like the pics zepp, a spanish Olivio x Lifesaver. Hope this isn't too boring, and excuse the enthusiasm, I really like the camera.

Day 1

Planted 3 Bonzos and 3 MMM in old folgers coffee containers, roughly 3/4 gal each.

Originally gave the MMM to friends with med needs, they somehow got ahild of clones of some Kali Mist, so they returned them. They'll have weed before I will, would be jealous and mad, but she needs it badly. So I'm growing out the MMM.

Planting medium: Mix of miracle gro potting soil, composted soil, Peruvian Seabird Guano, composted cow manure, Blood meal and Bone meal and epsom salt. I have 9 pots going to get em all ready as I just won another auction and should have incoming in the next couple of weeks, used 6 pots full of miracle gro, 3 pots full of composted soil, 1 pot full of perlite. Then added in 2 tablespoons guano, 1/4 cup manure, 1 tablespoon blood and bone meal, 1 tablespoon epsom salt per container.

Mixed everything in a large rubbermaid tub, then filled pots.

Took a new #2 pencil and poked the eraser in till it was no longer visible, making a hole app. 1/4-1/2 inch deep.

Dropped in the beans.

Nudged dirt over the hole just to cover.

Grabbed the old spray mister and HEAVILY misted the top of the soil in each container.

Damn, that was exhausting, time for a nap.

Day 4 All 3 Bonzos from Swan Song Seeds are up, impressed, it's like they couldn't wait to get up. Placed all 3 in cabinet under2 45 watt CFL's and 70 watt hps.

Day 6 All 3 MMM are now up. also placed under the lights.

Day 15 Recieved Burmaberry by Reeferman via Seedbay today, Planted in 3 remaining pots same method as described above.

Day 18 All 3 Burmaberry are up, very impressive germ, just shot right up and showed their pretty little heads.

Day 22 F'd up and fell asleep with the cabinet doors open, and that damn cat pretty much ate all the Bonzos and MMM. Can't be mad at the little sh*t, he was a feral stray till the kids started feeding him, then I made a mistake and let them bring him in. Next thing ya know, he adopted us. Poor thing had a rough life. He's been neutered, and they cut the tip of 1 ear off to identify him as a feral stray who has been fixed. One of the neighbors said they worm them and deflea and tick em also. Whatever the case, he's turned into an affectionate little jerk, can't be mad at him for my mistake. The Burmaberry are ok, he didn't hardly touch them, guess they were too small to mess with.

Anyway, replanted 3 MMM and 3 Bonzo

Day 26 All 3 MMM and all 3 Bonzos are back up and growing, Bonzos again up in record time, the MMM a little slower again.
So that makes this day 8 on the Burmaberry, and just gonna call it day 1 on the Bonzo/MMM

Day 16 Burmaberry

BurBerry 1: Very vigorous growth, already 3rd set of leaves. Big Fat indicish leaves
BurBerry2: slightly smaller than 1 also Big Fat leaves, some of which are a little mottled. What's causing this? No yellowing or other sick plant symptoms, just kinda wierdish mottled leaves, for lack of a better term. Just getting 3rd leaves.
BurBerry3: The runt, but still very nice. Short and squat, also nice Bid Fat leaves.

Tried the old rub the stalk and sniff the fingers, all three smell very much like grapefruit, #2 has a slight skunkish smell as well as grapefruit.

Day 8 Bonzo All 3 are a little stretchy, my fault, moved the light down a little. All have first true leaves, #3 has purplish stripes in the main stem/stalk. P or K def? Have to remember to ask Zepp, may be a natural trait.

Day 8 MMM About the same as the Bonzos cept the #3 plant is also a runt, and not so much stretch.

went to wally world and bought another drop reflector and another 45 watt CFL so all 3 groups have their own light source, should stop the streching of the Bonzos.

Day 23 Burmaberry

FIM'd all 3 of them 2 daze ago. Getting EXPLOSIVE growth at the nodes. Leaves are all so FAT, full 2 inches across. I love em. Wish I'd bought 2 packs. All have very fat main stems, fat as a pencil already. Nodes are 1/2 to1 inch apart, going to be a problem getting light to lower bud sites I can tell. But the leaves are just so BIG!! All still smell very much like grapefruit, #2 still has a faint touch of skunk. Really like the looks of these, outstanding node growth, should have no problem with bud sites, or getting clones if I want.

Day 15 Bonzo

Only 1 big enuff to FIM will wait till they are all ready before I FIM. All have 3rd set of true leaves.

#1 and #3 have small (compared to Burmaberry) fat leaves, #2 has narrower, but still nice, not too heavy sativish.

All 3 have a very pleasant fruity smell, with almost a vanilla undertone, mixed with something else I can't quite put my finger on. Not unpleasant tho, or skunky, just different. #3 already feels sticky when I rubbed the stem.

Day 15 MMM

Came a long way in 1 week, just showing 3rd set of true leaves, will probably FIM before next week. Damn things,2 of em have a citrusy skunky smell, strong, and one of em just reeks skunk already. This will be a problem. Going to have to do serious odor control. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will be a male, the other 2 will still need odor control tho, just touching the leaves I can smell skunk.

Mixed 2 tablespoons Peruvian Seabird Guano in 1 gallon of water and fed em today.

that takes us up to present, tomorrow will be day 30 on the BurmaBerry, day 22 on the MMM and the Bonzo. FIM'd all the MMM and the Bonzo yesterday.

first one to post! woohoo.

the plants are looking great. but dont you think that the foldgers coffee can is a bit big to start them in? or are you the kind of person that says replanting is bad?
but the plants look real good.

Hey Jet, thanks for dropping by!!

Nope, I don't think they're too big at all to start em in. Some guys start and finish in 5 gallon buckets, if I had a closet,(can't talk the ex into letting me have the closet, insists it's for clothes, go figure) I'd have done just that. I do think it is stressful transplanting, but not to the point I would be worried about it, I just don't like doing it any more than I got to. And I figure I'm helping out the environment by reusing the plastic tubs instead of throwing them out to wind up in a landfill.

I think they look good too, I really like the big old fat leaves on the BurmaBerry.

funny thing is he is from Texas!
ill get beat around here for that one...

as with the sizes of the pots - some people say that starting in larger pots allows for root rot. and that is way bad.

JETUSUP You can start them off in any size container...you just have to be carful and be a good judge of your pot size while watering.

NICE PLANTS STANKBUD...never seen a grow with any of these strains before ...Will be whatchin...

here's a post from GMT's thread titled 'evolution' in the indoor-soil forum about fimming:
GMT said:
I just started to reply to a PM and decided to post it here instead. Peeps here throw expressions around all the time, and I forgot how long it took me to work things out at first myself, so here's a quick 101 on the term topping:
Toppping, and fimming, are ways to get more tops to the plant. At the point the plant grows 2 leaves and then moves on to grow another 2, you remove the point that it is moving on with. Inbetween the top and the leaf, a new top will grow, and since 2 leaves, 2 new tops appear, each with 2 possible new tops and the 1s they are moving on with, if your still following.
Topping can be done again and again creating more tops and reducing the lower "popcorn".
Fimming is where you only remove half of the top, thereby stimulating both side shoots to grow, but also allowing the central bud generate at least one new top itself. This is really tricky and it's ages since I've heard of anyone doing it deliberately on a regular basis.
I'll upload a few pics of the off topic offspring now as the timing of this question is perfect for a little pic parade.

Close up of a different plant already posted

hope you don't mind, stankbud.

alex, there are some wonderful books available on cultivating marijuana.

i know of several that are very helpful

: The Cannabis Grow Bible, by Greg Green,
: The Indoor MJ Bible (not sure of exact title, sorry) by Jorge Cervantes
: any of ed rosenthal's books...

they are very useful!

Brownpants> Don't worry, the family is getting MORE than equal camera time, so glad the ex got it for me, already bombarding both side of the family with pics of the kidz.

nwODB > thanx for coming by, and the compliments. Can't blame the cat, but he ain't getting back in there again!!

Alex-F> glad ya stopped by, and what Sleepy said and posted is exactly right.FIM is short for F**K I Missed.

Sleepy> Thanx for the compliments, and thanx for the advice for Alex-F, explained it way better than I ever could have. Those are some great pics by GMT, thanx to him too!

Ok, First up a pic under the lights...didn't turn out too good

Now the three BurmaBerrys. I had to trim some fan leaves, wound up taking 1 leaf off of each plant. Really had no choice I felt, the damn things were so big, and they were blocking light to the node growth.
First up BurBerry 3, really bushed out after the FIM, vertical growth slowed.

BurBerry2

BurBerry1

That takes us to the Magical Mystery Mix (3M for short).
3M1

3M2

3M3

Now before ya ask, I still have the Bonzos, but I'm posting them in Swan Song Seeds forum, so zepps customers can see what they're getting, so I'll post a link for it after I get done there, ok? ok.

Enjoy!!
