Growing outdoors in this cold weather?! That poor African mama! Looks like she doesn't mind though! How far from harvest do you think she is, and will you be bringing her indoors?

even worse now, no indoor options lately and she will go for a month or two:biggrin:

im somewhat speechless by her ability to stand the situation, a bit unreal she is for sure

I'm having the worst luck with these seeds, so far have had 0/3 survive past first true leaves. Any tips with this strain? I shotglass them overnight, and the first one I put in straight flushed coco, sprouted and came up and turned brown and died, second I tried very low EC coco, same thing, next was the infallible peat/perlite and it popped but hasn't put down the tap or even progressed past the cracked stage in the last 4 days.

Did I get a bad batch of beans or what? I felt like a goddammed newbie so I decided to pop some amnesia haze beans and they popped and are growing fine.

Pretty frustrating, I want to grow this strain but right now I'm just feeling like I threw away a hundred bucks.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, no one likes throwing away money. I'm sure Dubi will stop by and set things straight, have no fear. Where your seeds fem or reg? Seems like your seeds may have been bad although I never soak my seeds, just straight into pure coco. After you place the seeds into the coco are you spraying the top of each seed with a spray bottle so the coco doesn't dry out? The top 2 inches will dry out each day and you will have a much better success rate using this method. I have only popped 3 fem Malawi seeds total, all popped and grew out fine. Since I have been using this method I have 100% success rate 42/42 seeds, 26 of those being Ace seeds(23 being Reg). The other 18 are from a few different breeders atleast 10 which leads me to believe in this method.

Glad to hear your Amnesia Haze seeds popped up and are doing fine. Heard good things about that strain, so not to big of a loss. Although I will admit Ace's Malawi is by far the strongest cannabis I have ever smoked, these were only under 600 watts of light. Given the right Malawi pheno and if one could grow her outside she would be at the highest tier possible hands down.

Yeah, my seed popping method is pretty foolproof, or so I thought. I don't mist the top of the soil, I start seeds in solo cups that have a zip lock bag with holes punched in it rubber banded to the top, the soil never dries out. I don't know, maybe I'm just having a bad luck. Like I said, the seeds are popping, but two just came up and looked great for a day then turned brown, third one popped but didn't put down its tap root.

I still have 3 beans left, so I will try those too, but they're the worst looking beans, haha, light color, small and almost green.

These are the feminized beans.

Did anyone ever cross this to a potent indica? Wonder what that would do..

taskenti X killer malawi
i think at ace are trying to cross almost everything with killer mum :) but not official batch of course (yet)

SteveWinthrop, sounds like it could be dampening off. A fungus that attacks the seedlings roots and stem. Check if you have soil gnats the dampening is often spread by them. Fly paper will show if you have them. Your setup may be too moist for the sprouts aiding a fungal attack.
I used uncovered cups and a heat mat, pop the seeds in moist dirt (or sprout them first then plant them) then mist them a couple times a day whenever they look like they're drying out. Then pour a little water all the way down if it looks like it's drying out every few days.
Sprouting seems so easy and usually is but it's maddening when it doesn't work. And it's always the expensive ones that are susceptible.

Lets make a seedbank, called dojo seeds, we could have "Chucks choice", "Bruce Lee's dragon",
and "Jackies drunken master" strains...What else, "Tony Jaa's Thai stick"?

sold, would like to run the 'Jackies drunken master' line as my life's work.

i remember kaiki was working on malawi/uzbekistan hybrid that looked pretty awesome.

You can get an overpowering and very high yielding sativa/indica hybrid by pollinating Malawi with a strong indica (ie hashplant, black domina, taskenti, etc ....). The outcome should be something like the old AK47 regarding potency and type of effect.

Malawi/uzbeki was a good idea in theory, but it didn't work very well and was discontinued.

Lately I've been focused mainly in malawi x sativa hybrids, but there's huge potential in the malawi x indica route too, my recommendation: choose a very tasty and strong indica parental plant as a partner for Malawi.

A 3rd generation malawi selected for its outstanding sweet carrot and mature citric aromas. This will be the line where to look for the tastier malawis, yet very resinous and powerful.
