A question for the growers using Jacks 5-12-26

My PH in RO came out to 4.9 and 740 ppm with an EC of 1.5. Any ideas? Why is my PH so low?

I think there's a misconception going on concerning ph. The word is RO should always have a certain ph level but I don't thank that's the case.
From my research gases in the water affect ph which causes the variations between 2 different users "RO". When I mix Jack's and calnitrate to 1200EC my ph is around 5.2 yet most report theirs much higher. PITA I know but there's always something.... :)

Btw, awesome thread!

1200 ec?!?! Assuming you mean ppm. At what scale. That would also make a difference in terms of final ph. 1200 ppm at 500 or 700 scale. Would it not?

I have been running jacks and calnit. I'm 35 days in flower. I'm running equal part by volume. My buds have zero smell and very little trics. I also have plants in soil with Botanicare cns 17. The plants in soil are frosty and stinky. So what am I doing wrong. Feeding jacks at 1050 and 110p

What system?
What strain? Same as those in soil? Soil at day 35 as well??
How do you measure you're jacks and cal-nit?... I just recently switched to equal parts volume after mixing by weight and having problems

I'm assuming 1050 is in reference to ppms, what sacle? or better yet just ec (it's a universal measurement) what is 110p in reference to?

looking at the keyboard i think they hit "p" instead of "0" which could mean they are running 1050-1100 ppms maybe? at what scale? who knows that could mean. possibly anywhere from 1.5-2.2 ec

:dunno:

They have a tiny bit of nute burn on the leaves. They always look super light green. That's a sign of hunger. I guess I'll take them down to 850. They did so great in veg at that strength.it seems like some thing is missing from jacks

What's your runoff look like? Nute burn but hungry... lockout maybe. How about flushing with low nutes.
Have you run coco before... It's not the jack's unless you got a bad batch, a lot of us are using it with success. Like str8 asked what's your recipe?

1 Tbsp each per 5 gallon ro water, comes out around 1050. Not blaming jacks. First time in Coco. I'll try a flush tonight

I have strains that need more magsul but im gonna guess its your rh, I bet if you increase it by 10-15% you'll not only increase your growth rates but see less of the tip burn. That being said...whats your rh? I mix equal volumes unless they look like they need more n.

I use as much as 1 tsp of each part per gallon. I think the problem for me is a combination of PH and dissolved solids, my water begins with 480 PPM and PH is around 8.0. I got yellow leaves and red streaks in the stems using less Jacks. If you are running RO you may be shy on magnesium and calcium. Obviously my water supplies some usable calcium but I have to add magnesium by using epsom salts at 1/4 teaspoon per gallon.

Packerfan I saw a 33% increase across the board when I dialed my environmental rh many years ago. I went from 3/4# to 1# plants with same feed veg time and same size smart pots, all that changed was the rh and yield.. I had co2 and temp covered, but until I got rh dialed there's wasn't much difference from before and after I added a fuzzy logic controller. Just because your soil plants are "good" doesn't mean that all your plants couldn't be better. Environment is the most underrated part of a grow imo.

Are you feeding your soil plants the same feed? Do your hydro plants grow faster than your soil or at the same rate?

I agree environment is everything.and I know a high rh can improve thing s but I'm doing a side by side grow to test jacks and Coco vs soil and Botanicare.I feel like jacks can do better than what I'm seeing. I just need to figure it out

Coco seems to bind calcium and magnesium so you have to add them until a balance is reached. Try adding a tsp of epsom salts per gallon of fert solution. You may also have to add calcium . I hate calmag as it doesn't have what I consider the right percentage of the two but it is better than nothing.
