Pot is a gateway drug -- to nicotine

Study shows that THC makes the brain more susceptible to nicotine addiction.

By Anne Hurley 11 hours ago

Sergeant Joe Friday would feel vindicated -- sort of. The hardboiled '60s detective on "Dragnet" was no fan of marijuana, lecturing hippies smoking pot that it would lead to "heroin, cocaine, uppers, downers" -- next stop, the O.D. Express. And while studies in the decades since have mostly refuted those claims, a new study shows that using marijuana can in fact lead to a higher likelihood of addiction--to nicotine....

I dunno. I think there may be pot smokers who come to this website and we should ask them what they think.

Then throw 'em in the pokey.

Oh come on now, we all have heard the drugs are better and more prevalent inside da bid house.

This gateway correlation is totally and completely true in my case. I have since quit cigarettes, but that habit is really one of the only things Ive ever regretted in my life. Luckily for me, cannabis helped me stop smoking, just like it helped introduce me to nicotine.

Ive still got few friends who smoke, but I honestly can't hang out with them that often, cuase the smokes bum me out too much. I guess it was the "this is bumming me out" feeling that drove me to stop smoking. I got sick of the monkey on my back. I like the permanent fresh feeling you can get without the cigarette smell. I can only stand to around smokers outdoors really, and thats basically the only place people are allowed to smoke.

I don't buy into any of it. People don't wake up one morning and say to themselves, "You know what? I think I'll try Special K or X today for something to do."

That DOES NOT FUCKING HAPPEN.

People will try drugs based upon peer pressure (rare), but most likely try drugs based upon their interaction with a drug user they have come to know and trust implicitly because these people would be (in their own eyes at least) risking their lives. When I tried marijuana for the first time I realized quite poignantly that I was playing with my very life and that no matter what happened with that particular drug experience I would be different. I would now be either a drug user or a former drug user and I might even be out of mind permanently or dead as a result of using a given drug.

That's the fucking truth. Everything else is taking away from people exercising their free will which is something the government wants to avoid in every single case no matter what because then the government cannot control these people for the benefit of sustaining government as an ongoing institution that is necessary to their lives no matter how big government gets.

WERD - now that's a fucking rant to be proud of. Alfred E. would approve of this post.
