any knucklehead who can wave a torch should be able to weld a collar on to steel plate, mine got a little tiny bit warped but as far as i can tell theres no real effect...
I don't think it would be a good idea to use a torch and braze the collar on the plate. It would take too lone to get the plate hot enough and that would cause it to warp. Would be best to take it to a shop and get the collar welded on. Also to make heated plates you need a good drill press and good drill bits. It also helps to know the proper speed the bits require to not burn up and brake off inside the plate. Knoladge is the key to quality
I am using Pro-Mix this round so I ordered the dirty V&B as well....I was just looking at the instructions on my tub and it says if your water is below .2 EC add tap water to bring up EC to .2 to .3 before adding the V&B dirty mix. My tap varies in ph from 7 to 7.8 and EC from not registering on my Bluelab to .2.
Anyone know why bringing it up first is required? For the nutes to mix properly? I cannot add tap water to bring it up if my tap is not registering.
morning y'all
well i think i have shown that a simple approach can work well but for sure if i upgrade i would just buy premade plates rather than trying to get it done here...
the collar doesnt need to be strongly attached, its not under any pressure, mine is just spot welded on...
Not this weekend but the next I'm gonna spend a few days in the gulf fishing for what ever bites the hook. Been a few years and I've been counting days lol
i kept it simple until it proved itself to be viable and to see how much market there was for it,and the rig payed for itself the first week...and now like i said i would rather let someone else do the legwork,an hours squishing would pay for the new plates and heaters...Yup spot welding will work just fine and not warp the plates if done right. I have a brother that will do the welding and I have a drill press and the know how to drill and tap the holes.
All I need now is the stainless plates, heaters, controls and the time to source to sources it all.
