I always keep a small roll of tp in my hoodie, just in case. Leaves work terribly, and moss or mullein are never where you need them. I've made a few belly shirts, and come home with one or no sock(s) before, lol! :moon:

And rocks.

Had a friend go threw Flagstaff with his family when he was about 12. They stopped to get pizza. There was one Native American in the place with about 70 tables.

They sat down to eat their pizza and the guy kept inching over till he was sitting right next to my friend.

He then leaned over and asked my friend "Do you know why indians have long hair"?

He replied "No why do they"?.

The guy then said "Because wiping the ass with rocks and sticks hurt to much".

My friend's mom was mortified and yelled out "Time to go".

:tumbleweed:quick lesson to those of you who don't live in the desert southwest....

as you've seen in the pics from rides, this town is surrounded by vast stretches of essentially empty land. most of that is public lands meaning it's owned by the us government and generally administered by the BLM,the bureau of land management. public lands mean just that, anyone should in theory be able to access public lands. but ranchers are allowed to lease the land for next to nothing to run cattle on and thus cut off access to those lands via miles and miles of barbed wire fences and the occasional gate along the roads. now there's a lot of dirt roads of various quality around here, and also lots of county maintained roads with designations, the conflict comes when ranchers block access to county roads, everyone should have right of way to cross those lands.

the upshot of that is there's a lot of land we should be able to access that's blocked by pissy ranchers....

second, this area should be tall grass high plains grassland, not a bunch of scrubby, prickly plants. due to overgrazing it's the way it is...

third,water...pretty important in the desert...once again, public lands, public resource...the rancher range from fine with cyclist using the stock tanks to the guns and pickup truck types...

so i stopped eating beef...same sort of reason why i don't own a car
