I got a couple new (used) Radiant hoods. these are 8 inch. I've only had 6 inch hoods to this point. They look like they are slightly wider then the old 6inch Radiant hoods I've had for years now.

been watching some of the pre-event vids coming out for the red bull rampage...for those not up on your cycling sub disciplines rampage is a free ride contest where they go out to some gnarly ass canyon in utah and spend a week chopping out crazy lines down the sides of cliffs and then make the whole thing even more insane by tossing in the occasional flip or other trick while hucking their bikes across 70 foot wide canyon gaps...
one of the aspects of mountain biking i don't really like since it essentially looks like vandalism to me on one level since they are building trails that will only be ridden for the event on an otherwise pristine spot....but it does make for good tv!


big weekend...tomorrows ride is gonna be a long one,and i'm probably going to short cut parts of the route just to have enough leg to get through it all....lots and lots of climbs...none of them very long,but a whole nasty bunch of them...


then hopefully i still have enough energy on sunday to go ride out and meet them along the way back into town...

big day tomorrow...it's really two big rides smashed together...even skipping some of the optional singletrack its still gonna be a big day...supposed to be a mellow pace at least...and i should be able to get a couple of good breaks along the way when i shortcut and wait for the rest of the riders to catch up....who knows how that will go,there are people coming all the way from alaska and a few other states to do this event....not a race,no prizes,but it is supposed to be for fastest known time on the route...330 miles or so...my buddy is trying for 96 hours or less...90 miles a day of off road riding with camping gear...very little of it is what you would call easy riding...


plus the 4am wakeup tomorrow....fun...i can sleep in a bit on sunday,i think its a 2 hour ride to where i can meet up with them...a couple of back to back 60+ mile days for me...
