A Goddess is born

V

vonforne

Hello Organic friends, I will be doing a real time grow along. This will last for about 100 days. It is my first grow along and I believe it will be the first one here at Organic Soil. In Organic Soil we seem to be lacking everything.....no stickys, no grow alongs, just what we create ourselves. Like the way we grow. That is what makes us.......the Organic crew, the elite of the growers. We do for ourselves with what we have at hand from the earth. We give to it and it gives back to us.

The seeds that I will be growing are MOD seeds Dream Goddess. If some of you do not know what that is, it is GodbudXDreamweaver. I'am really excited about this new hybrid. I believe it has great potential. I recieved these seeds as a freebie from Seedbay. I have been growing mostly sativas but I think this will be a good change.

Mod was reporting early that the DG's were only going to get a 40% or so germ. ratio....So i germinated 20 of the 30 seeds. I'm happy to say that 19 out of 20 are open with 19 in soil. Now all are showing a set of leaves. I had tails showing while still in the soaking container.

I used the paper towel method after a 24 hour soak in a solution of Maxi Crop liquid seaweed.

Solution: 2.5 ml of Maxi crop per cup of water.

Soak in container or cup for 24 hours in warm place. I place it covered in a warmer location of the house. When a 1/2 tail or greater is showing I placed the seedlings in their new home.

Which is a mixture of Majestic earth peat moss and perlite mix at a ratio of equal parts (50%x50%) I mix a 2.5 gallon container and add 1 tablespoon of Dolomite limestone. The Majestic peat has lime in it and is adjusted to 5.0 to 6.0 out of the bag. The seedlings will do good in this until transplant. I then put the soil in clear beer cups and place the seedling in the cup. I'm doing this to keep the roots to the center of the cups and concentrated. Otherwise I think they grow to the sides and at the bottom. When they start showing roots outside this area I will then transplant to 1 gallon pots. I will have them under 40 watt grolux floros for the first part of their lives. The second part under T-5s. The suggested veg time is about 45 days for this strain.

Seedling soil mix:

I use the smaller perlite for this because it is very easy for a stoner to lose the seed in the Big and Chunky stuff.

Now for the soil mixture.
I will use a basic mix for these seedlings. It has already been mixed. I'm going to use a mix with no additives. Except some compost. I will try to use materials that can be picked up at the local stores(Lowes and such) Except the guanos and kelp.

It is going to consist of :

2 bags of Majestic peat moss (40 dry quarts) made by ProMix sold at Lowes
21/2 5 gallon buckets of perlite FoxFarm Big and Chunky
1 bag of Black Velvet mushroom compost (benefical microorganisms)
1 bag of Light warrior for the mycorrhiza, I love this stuff!
16 litres of Black Gold wormcastings....everything good here.
I will test the Ph in a week and adjust at that time. Out of the bag it was 5.0

All nutrients will be watered in with a microbial tea. Bubbled of course.

I used a microbial tea to innoculate the soil mixture, it consisted of:

5 gallons of 6.0 Ph'd water
5 tbls (75 ml) Black strap molasses (Tree of Life organic)
5 tbls (75 ml) Maxi-crop Liquid seaweed
3 tbls (45 ml) Liquid Karma
3 tbls (45 mil) maxi-crop liquid fish

1st day of bubbling

I then added to the pre-mixed soil and covered. I will turn it every other day for about 3 weeks or until the seedlings are ready to be transplanted.

I grew a couple clones in this mix and watered in with microbal teas and Liquid fish.

The first is in a 1 gallon square pot and the second is still in its cup. Both are doing great.

Thats all for tonight folks.

Von

Good luck on that new grow vonforne, which I hope will be the first of a successful series here in our dear Organics forum. As you said, this place is still missing stuff, and it's up to us to "innoculate" it!

*runs for some popcorn*

Cheers

Yes, the seedlings did stretch. They were in the seed still when I went to work and when I came home they were really out there.

It still catches me off guard how fast they grow.

i got these as freebies too, hope i have as good a germ rate as you.

so far every freebie I've received have had reports of bad germ rates. makes the whole "give to a friend to get them growing" thing kind of embarrassing if you give em seeds that don't work :)

however, of the freebies received i have had a good % of them pop, so maybe that was just initial reports, and usually just unhappy people report, so hopefully all will be well :)

Looks like you got some very leggy seedlings. Next time have as much light as the little seedlings can stand. With florescents only 1 inch away. I liked that microbal tea. :)

Hi sweetie

Great job, I like being able to go out and buy what I need locally also. I have not been able to find worm castings though.
The light warrior and mushroom compost, were you able to find those at Lowes?

I'll be hanging around, I am very interetsed in settling on my medium once and for all. I think I can get good tips from you. Thanks for doing this thread.

Hello everyone!

Glad to see the new faces. Welcome to Organic Soil.

POMH, Thanks for stopping in. It is good to see you outside the TD. We always welcome an eager organics fan.
Now about the ingredents you asked about. The Light Warrior I purchased at the Hydro store but you could use peat, perlite and the only thing I use it for Mike (Mycorrhizal Fungi) you can purchase this brand at most garden centers. I find the ones with trees have it the most. I will add this at transplant time but I do like to get a head start so I add it to my 'cooking" soil by way of Light Warrior.

Wormcastings I can find at garden centers or the Hydro shop but if you have an extra rubbermaid container and cannot find them locally, you can make your own very easy. Some of the best stuff for your plants! I get mine at the Hrdyo shop because it is Black Gold brand but I can also get the Wiggle Worm at garden centers here.

Mushroom compost is at Lowes and its $3.24 a bag. The Makjestic earth peat is right next to it also. Composted Cow poop is also a sub for Mushroom compost or you could use a little of both. It will give you a more diverse bacteria count. Thats if you use animal manures.

Later I will work up a location and price sheet for all the things I will be using and their substitutes.

alaeddin, Hello and welcome. Glad you could drop by. Keep that nose ready because the teas are coming!

******************
Good to see you Suby.

Suby, My only answer to that is:

Yes Master! :) (bows head and kneels)

******************

Welcome Willie, I'm up to my elbows in shit and the like every night. And I like it! Would not have it any other way. Look foward to seeing you again.
******************

Now for the main event.............

DAY 7 DreamGodesses

The little goddesses are doing great. And my photographic skills are improving also. The faster growing ones are showing massive root developement. These babys are not going to be in the cups very long! The ones that opened first are really starting to grow now. Most are on their second set of leaves.
They have recieved a light watering last night and really shot up then but I had the light right there and no more "legs" now.

Soil update: The soil mixture is holding water very well. You can clump it and get a little run off from your hand. It breaks up easily when poked also. I will wait another couple of days to see if I need a little more perlite but I think it is going good. I have a flowering plant that seems to like the mixture.

Wanna See? Sure you do..........

I call her Happy Girl. Because when their leaves stand up like this they are VERY HAPPY!

I will post the admendments later in this thread. The base mix is the same but she is the test run for the additives I will be using later for the DGs when they go to flowering.

What do you all think?

Here is another....she is a MMM#2 from Sagamartha.
Looks like a sativa! :)

Glad everyone could stop by tonight. Look foward to seeing you all again real soon.

Nug shot: Grapefruit Pheno at day 48 for this girl or around there.........
