This article--coming from a big daily newspaper--almost couldn't be better if it had come whole-cloth from the "IC Mag PR Dept." As a former flack myself, I outta know.
Not only does it associate our favorite herb with positive, social, non-threatening environments, it also belittles the opposition by pointing out his touting those bullshit studies about potency. it makes him look like a prig and in no way addresses the point of the story, which is MJs increasing social acceptance in the US. Plus he only got his say near the bottom of the piece.
Make no mistake, small set-backs aside, prohibition is losing.

I got sent to rehab for Marijuana when I was 16. In my country, these fuckers come to your house and tie you up and its off to rehab. With your family members permission of coarse. They put you in this 20' by 20' foot room filled with around 50 junkies. Heroin, coke, meth addicts all sleeping on the floor. Its disgusting man.
Normally, you get put in DETOX for 1 week, but since I knocked a wall down and tried to escape from detox I got left for a whole damn MONTH with NO VISITS! I got beat down everytime the door gaurd changed for the remaining of the day. They finally transfered me to a place with beds once I was "detoxified". Assholes, they got theirs after I got out.
When I told the people what I was in there for I was like "for smoking mota", they just laughed and said "just for smoking weed?" I knew I didn't belong there but my mom just didn't understand. She's like, marijuana is bad and illegal.
This was one of the worst experiences in my life. I never smoked weed at my moms pad EVER again. Now I smoke every time possible LOL! This was all recommended by a psychologist to my mom, I'm still looking for that asshole.

Exactly Chakal and Nevermind, its unbelievable to see these young cannabis smokers or occasional mushroom users in the same confines with chronic alcoholics, meth-addicts, opiate addicts, etc.....
The only hope i see is that the generation of people who equate dope with satan is finally getting so old and soon they'll be in nursing homes addicted to all kinds of "legal" and "good" prescription pharmies.....then they'll really find out what an addictive drug is all about, the hard way.....
Really its not evil, its just ignorance......the pharmaceutical companies, however, one could make a strong case for the evil that lies therein.....

If I could have bought shares into the drug rehab industry when I was younger,I'd be wealthy beyond belief.My first experience fortunately was just a couple years after the shaving of the heads..1979..they still made you wear heavy signs saying "help me I'm lonely" or some such nonsense.Scrubbing entire rooms with toothbrushes with almost a daily occurrence,and "marathon" encounter groups used to satisfy the counselors sadistic sides..Eric Clapton is a sellout..My experience in 1979 was also at a facility called "crossroads" in Alex Va,at Erics crossroads you won't be scrubbin walls with a toothbrush.Eric the anti-drug hippocrite,still collecting royalties every time his crappy "cocain" song plays on the radio,which is quite often.Anti-cannabis Eric the money grubbing no talent anymore hypocrite.

not to mention i heard eric clapton once gave a guitar to the blues legend hubert sumlin, howlin wolf's old guitarist, in thanks i guess for all the good licks he stole, and then a couple days later, sent someone later to ask for it back. as the british would say what a cunt!

Just about every one of those programs are designed to have you admit your powerlessness over your addiction,sound familiar?Admitting powerlessness,and depending on a higher power for salvation was daily part of my life for years at a time,I found it to be ineffective,I never even stopped using alcohol.It wasn't until I realized I wasn't powerless at all that I gave up alcohol 4 years ago.I'm using the same ideology to get off something tougher right now.The industry standard 12 step program may work for some,but its the unrecognised power within them keeping them sober I believe,not a supernatural entity...Eric got clean from narcotics,realized the financial potential of perpetuating the powerlessness myth,and took off with it.It wouldn't bother me one bit that a brit ex junky would adopt the American way,no sir..But take that fuckin song off the air,quit belittling current users,and make your fuckin money...

If weed was still legal, and never was illegal, I think we would have less SUPER POTENT strains.. I think there would be less emphasis on it, because people would be more casual. But when you are paying $50/eight (Total ripoff)... then you need it super strong...

If MJ heroin and cocain were never used together in a sentence,never thought of in the same context,never somehow twisted together so that our kids will never experience one without the oppurtunity and likelihood to experience the other,this world would make a little more sense to me..
