A Complete Guide to Topping, Training and Pruning

This is a great thread. I have a nice mother that I topped, and she did really well with inter- node spacing, but now she is stretching like crazy. I just want to use her for clones, so I'm thinking about topping all of her colas down to 6 inches above the first topping; now over 4 ft tall...

I need to level my veg room to provide the best environment for all of my clone mothers.

I'll give this old thread a bump, too. It's really one of the most helpful threads on ICMAG.

Thanks for this thread which I used on my first grow. Never topped lst or supercroped before but got some good results.

A great read, I have always been a bit wary of pruning, well scared more so. I only prune the very lower stuff and not all at once.

Great info. Thx

Also 1st time farmer doing DWC just topped the ladies and on one I took a little too much off the top, took the right side new growth node off. Ouch... Will a new shoot still come from that side?

Any takers

Can you provide a picture? If you cut the shoot, and there is no node below where you cut then no it will not re grow a shoot out of the node. Hope this is what you're asking and helps.

Thx! I still have the node on the left side. Guess I'll wait till it grows out a bit then LST, top and supercrop Trial and error. Bummer... Minor set back on this girl, but she is super healthy and vibrant...will include pic soon

Hi guys

Just dropped in to say hello.

I'm glad that this thread is still active and of some use to our members.

Some members have suggested additions to the guide, but unfortunately the number of pictures allowed within one post have been reduced since I posted the guide. In order to edit the guide, I would have to split it up over several posts (like post #2 and #3), as the number of pictures currently in the guide exceeds that limit. There is no way of re-saving it after the edits and keeping it in one piece. For that reason, I will leave the guide as it is.

Perhaps the guide could use a "part 2" if anybody cares to write one up and post it in the same place. You are also welcome to post anything related the the topic on this thread, in order to expand on the topic. The "Mainline" training part would be a great addition. I'm currently, however, not active on this forum.

In any case, happy growing and keep it green :tiphat:
