96$ Air conditioner

N

Today I found a 5000BTU Arctic King window air conditioner at walmart for 96$ as summer is approaching quick :joint:

Its very small, fairly quiet and seems like it would be easy to mount into a box which is what I plan to do and set it in my grow room and exhaust the back. Not sure if this is a national thing but its worth a try for anyone in need of a cheap air conditioning summer solution!

I'll post more when I get my box built...

hmm im intrested in doing an ac setup for my room but i dont know how im going to do it yet, when you say your gonna exhaust the back what do you mean?? I was gonna do a portable ac unless i find something else.

I'm moving into the bottom level of a split level ranch. The whole apartment is like halfway below ground. I took a tour of the place on a near 80 degree day, and the inside was no more than 65. It felt great, and I think it's gonna be good enough so that we won't even need to get an air conditioner. I'm hoping it solves my temp issues with my cabinet.

TheGerminator: I'm going to build an air tight box out of wood and have a latch/hinges on it so i can open the side and put a moisture pan under it so it will collect any water that drips and then I will put a starter collar ont he wood and cut a hole for it then connect my ducting for my exhaust to it... with a booster fan I think it will be good... Don't spend the cash on a HUGE portable a/c when you can mod a Window A/C to do the same thing... :) Like I said when I build the box ill post pics to give ideas and what not.

Awesome i wanted to do mine this week, so basically build a box to hold and mount the ac, line the bottom of a pan with a tray, put a door on the side to empty tray and 6 in starter collar in the rear with exhaust booster how big of a tray do you think will be needed?

Sounds nearly identical to my place. Youll LOVE it. 90 degrees outside but I still have to wear socks inside. The plants love it and water temps stay nice in hydro.

I'm not sure yet... I'm also not sure what I'm gonna use for it... I hope to start the build tomorrow... Maybe since my grow room is not too humid I might not even need it... but i suppose a regular plant tray from any hydro store would suffice.

Oh and I only added the booster because my exhaust doesnt seem to be pulling very strong as it is with a stanley blower on 3 so when i add a splitter im gonna put a booster below the stanley so basically i will be pushing and pulling thru my carbon filter ;)

i've never had to use a filter as of yet but from what i understand ya wanna suck through the filter not blow.i don't think it will scrub right the way yer talkin but again i have no experience only from others more knowledgable.and i can't wait to see how yer gonna duct the hot air from the ac out as i want to find a way to hook up ac to a hydrohut but don't want the unit in the window bud don't want to buy an unefficient portable ac either ya know?by the way i used to know someone called nigganate but he was a white guy! :pimp3: nuggler
unless your filter is mounted on the outside of the room and you are sucking the dirty air out and pushing it through the filter.... i think

Yeah you do want to suck... but both can't hurt man... :p Its only a booster fan anyway just to give it some help... I just don't think its sucking enough air.. As long as its being pulled from the other side it should still go through fine.. I'm gonna vent it the same way i did my exhaust box in the attic... just connect a duct starter to the wood and cut a hole... simple enough. Oh yeah I am white this is just my handle haha

:D

:D

Just finished my A/C box... A little procrastinated but I am a stoner
 Turned out to be much easier than I first thought... After I noticed that the sides had intake I just built a box to fit around the back with a starter collar on it... I don't think I'm gonna need a moisture pan as I haven't observed any moisture yet... Heres the pics:

The A/C: 96$

Wood/Starter Collar: 20$

Ducting: 8$

Y Splitter: 1$

My babys under 1000watts at 71 degrees: priceless

:woohoo:

Just make a box that fits around the back and cut a hole for the collar and connect it... CAKE! Screw you portable air conditioner makers! I rule !

fucking costs a ton, 96 looks awesome 100 bux extra a month to run the damned thing doesn't. texas baby! it isn't even hot yet and my grow is throwing my entire small ass house 5 degrees up compared to outside. That's with no AC on. Stupid ass heat.

ya it sucks... this is the smallest A/C i could find and it cools my room great!! it does draw a 515 watts though.... what can you do though... it will payoff in the end :)

i live in a really dry are with less than 20% humidity.. even in my room... cant get it any higher and i'm not gonna get a humidifier fuck it... hopefully it will be evaporated when it gets pushed out the back with the air... but if not ill fix it... also looks like i need an inline fan with the splitter i added... barely any air is being pulled from my hood and its still geting too hot... GOD DAMN 1000WATTERS! anyway goin to the hydro store tomorrow pz
