I often should I be using hygrozyme? My plants today didn't look very healthy, just slightly off, so I flushed them with just water and they seem much healthier. I think its just a salt build up that I've just been trying to fix by adjust the nutes not just flushing it.
Personally, I water with enzymes every watering...
enzymes beakdown salts and dead plant matter...making them absorbable and useful to the plant...they help mitigate salt buildup at the root zone....
enzymes are useful in this context when utilizing plumbing in your setup...they will breakdown protein buildup that could otherwise cause clogging in lines (depending on what nutes and additives you run)
I found GH 3 part to be clean when I used it in a recric DWC setup while back....but the Botanicare line and additives caused some protein buildup....enzymes eliminated the problem....this is just my limited experience
I make sure I get good runoff when I handwater also....and when I automate I'll take the same approach to irrigation....
I'm still new to this...I've only been using various coco mixes and soilless mixes for a lil' over a year....still learning
In fact my 1st ever soilles setup was Botanicare's premix coco blend....my buddy HYDROJUNKIE schooled me on it over a year ago...I cut it with hydrotron my first go with it....and it was c99.....LOL
Its been a long time since I've updated, sorry, but I have been working hard on perfecting my setup before going into the long haul of flowering.
I've upgraded to a drip system and I couldn't be happier. My job is 10x easier and it took 30 minutes and $45 to get it all set up. I'm loving it all I have to do is mix water before I water and now as of today I got a 17gal reservoir, I won't even have to do that every time. The run off is still a problem though, currently I have them double potted and in a saucer to catch the water, these need to be emptied about every two days. I'm planning on getting a tray to put the plants on and elevating the tray and the ladies with the double pots that I have under the plants right now. Then I'm going to drill two holes and put two pots under to catch it.
This has been a really exciting week for me though, the buds are starting to show up, the smells, and the crystals. It looks like if I can keep this up I should have some decent buds
I've really been struggling with my camera though, its fairly cheap and doesn't take closeups very well. Perhaps I just don't know how to take them.
Almost forgot, the oscillating fan died last night and won't turn on so I have two computer fans hooked up in there right now but I really need to go get a big oscillating fan, no more half assing it.
-VT-: Thanks for that tip on hygrozyme I've definitely noticed an improvment with the sale build up even thought I've been upping my nutrients and experimenting with my watering.
BlindDate: The guy at the hydro store told me that B`cuzz sits out in the rain for about 6 to 9 monthes to soak out all the salts. He also said the the Aeration mix, maybe Botanicare, sits out in the rain for 18 monthes and its the only coco that he has never ever had to soak.
nice lookin gear man...i am a coco grower too..just sprouting some c99 pinapple f5's..the only problem ive ever had with coco was under furting...
i asumed cause it looks like dirt, and the guy at the hydro shop gave me a bag when i asked for the best potting mix he had...go figure that out..
so i was only feeding once a week and watering a few times..so my white widdow's really struggled...till i worked out it was hydro...so i rapidly increased the feeding and the plants kicked on..
coco rocks
hey sensi great job dude ..... those c99's look explosive.
one question abou your drip system .... did u just punch a 1/4" hole in the 1/2" line comming from the pump and stick the 1/4" lines right in there with a tight fit or did u use some type of 1/4" groumet to secure a tight fit with no water leaks? ..... and also how often do u feed ???
Closet_Trics: Yea I just used a 1/8"th puncher thing to just put holes in the main line and force the tube through, almost no leaks. I feed 5 times a day for 1 minute right now but I'm still figuring out what works best
Looking Great there Sensi! Great thread with some good tips for peeps to learn. I run a similar system but larger. Watering 5 mins/day seems like a lot of H2O. Maybe it's a garden-size difference. Just a thought!
canna have a nutrient specificaly for coco coir (canna coco) the most important feature is that it does not have any salt build up problems so you don;t have to flush as often as when using hydro nutrient.
It's almost done, we're getting closer and closer to the end. I'm so excited. Its really started to develop a mangoy honey smell and is extremely sticky.
I've been flushing for about 2 days and I already see a lot of yellowing so I may cut this short a couple days. I'm going to get a microscope from radioshack today and that will tell me much more.
My favorite plant so far is in the back left, it has like 5 -6 nugs only but they appear to be the consistantly largest and most resinated of the entire group. It was also right next to the only fan for 20+ days. I think this one is either the runt that almost died in the begining or the one that I much more aggressivly pruned in the begining of flowering; either way I like the results.
My next favorite is in the back right corner next to the new fan, but the reason I like it is not for the nug size although consistant but because the canopy is almost perfectly level. This was the only plant that I "successfully" trained. The results from this are also obvious with each nug being consistant in size and quality to the next; if only it didn't have to be so far away from the light because of a few other nugs.
Anyways on with the show tell me if you guys perfer pictures like this( I changed the size and also figured out how to use to the Hue/Saturation tool
wow what a great job, it just shows what an amazing medium coco is. congrats on getting everything this far, now you just have to pick the right mommet to chop them down. prefferably not too early.
