If I'm reading correctly than mel would have the legit nl5 genetics If the garlic pheno is just a pheno of the 5 than that clears that up. I would like to run some of Joey's gear but if it isn't stocked at a USA bank than I probably wont get it.

I wish I could get my hands on some Joey's NL but them Canadian banks and mail service suck

Directly from Mel.

That's good and whenever a person is willing to come out and explain lineage clearly that's great

"Rimmeo (who is NOT my favorite person) had nothing to do with the 89 NL5. Supposedly, the 90 Superskunk I ran from him came direct from Neville, and I traded Rimmeo some of my 89 NL5 F3s for them when TSD was still up and runnning, when I was searching for the old Superskunk from Sensi I use to love, but his hands never came anywhere near my 89 NL5 beyond my trading with him."

This is the adam dunn interview where I thought she said she got some seeds from somewhere that made up the male side but its not in there as far as i can see

And I listen to a lot of interviews and podcast it could be somewhere else you never know and it she could have been talking about the superskunk

Strangely enough she talks about the superskunk @1:01 and says she cant tell where they came from.. I guess now we can understand why LoL

But hey @least they came from Nevil originally...hopefully

Im pretty sure Mel used BCSC for the Male NL5. Ive also read the newer BCSC aren't as good as they were several years back.

These are supposed to be Neville's unreleased NL#5 bx, crossed back to the NL#5 cut. In other words an almost pure NL5.

You mean this project??

"I had a back crossed line of NL5, 8 back crosses. After I got out of jail they were gone. I don't know what happened to them. Marcel probably sold Rimmeo some of them. It was the closest to NL5 in seed form. It's another of my projects that I never got to finish. It stil irks me."
N.

Melvan quote:

"My 1989 NL 5 that is currently being auctioned at the Seed Depot are F3s on my end, but it was obviously a worked line already. They were made from seed provided from the original stock of '89 NL 5 that were never released due to the breeder's incarceration. They cannot be called Sensi as they never made it to the that year's catalog.

They did not come from bodhi or maddfarmer, although the female clone they have was mother to my seed, but that clone was donated to them from a mutual friend we all share. I chose to take the seed, not the clone, for the specific purpose of hunting a male to preserve the seed. I still have the male and am planning F4 BX1 for regular release sometime in the next year.

I don't hang here, but I will pop in to check this thread. Please feel free to ask me any questions you like, other than who handed me the seeds because I am not allowed to share that.

And, here's some pics for you. If you're old enough to remember her, then you recognize her. I am very excited to have the opportunity to reintroduce this girl to the breeding pool, which is why I specifically put 15 in the auction packs, so that others can work with her and get her stable genetic back in the pool."

Not to get off topic on Mel's work, but does anyone have an idea where the BCSC NL#5 was sourced from? So many different NL lines, and who only knows what percentage of modern strains have it in their background.

By any chance do you have any pics of those OSHP's?

I do, the pictures aren't the best but..

It's definite powerful sleep medicine, hashy, skunky notes, after about 20 minutes your eyes start closing on their own. One pheno had a slight pine citrus note. One other was straight hash, tobacco and fresh leather. That was the best imo.

All of our nl look similar in build. Tighter nodes not much elongated side branching. Great sog plant

@N8v maybe breeding her with maybe a chem would help the potency

Marmarb, I think i'll keep her as is, I like having a variety of potency and effects. Kind of like the difference between an imperial IPA and a session IPA!

I appreciate all of the info and background on these different NL's really gives some context for me. Nothing like a community of ppl with similar passions (mostly) moving things forward in a good way.

And AK beanbrains...

AKBB NL5 x NL5 is (92 Marc Emery x Alaskan NL 5)

The 92 emery is from the marc emery catalog hes a seed broker not a breeder its most likely BCSC if you look at the old catalog

And then the male side Alaska NL5 circulating back then

Herbgreen, thank you for this, i didn't know this bit about AKBBs NL5.
