Even in my garden where my plants have an unlimited amount of soil to use, the best plants are the youngest ones.

Starting early is just more work and harder to deal with. I want my plants starting to sex in 2-3 weeks not now. I'd like them to start coming in to maturity closer to the actual time I'll be growing them in their final location. Less transplanting for me and less times the roots get slowed down for the plant.

IF you really do have 4+ Yards of soil.>Who the fuck measures soil in gallons...LoL...anyway... That young unrestricted root will just tear the entire summer and bring you a bountiful healthy plant come fall...No problem.

The more times you transplant and deal with them before they actually go outside the worse they do in my experience.

You would have to grow at least 20 lb plants to justify the cost and space to have 4+ yards of soil per plant.
You can hit 5-8 lbs in a 200 (1 yard) and 8-12 in a 300 (1.5 yards).
I mostly agree with what your saying and have learned through experience and mistakes. I used to start seeds in Feb-early March. Now it's late March-early April.
Agree with you about less transplants and less time to care for plants, and that the latest planting usually out preforms the earliest when started too early.

Looking nice Mendo. Are you planning on transplanting them to bigger pots 1 more time before they go into the ground, or just straight from the 5s to the final home?

5's straight to the big pots.
If I have to wait till June Ill go to 15's in later May then final in June.

^^byf rustles a lot of jimmies on here but hes right about a lot of shit. sprouting seeds in early march is ok but i would really like to see a side-by-side to see if they finish bigger than the plants that are started in spring.

you are way ahead of us. that's cool you are already sexing your plants. are you saving any males?

May be I'll do a side by side. But I dont think so.
I have starts from March too. I was afraid I didn't have enough plants and started more.

They are still under light's indoors. i was going to kick them outside next week.

I will be looking to save some males. I have my main ones.

I'm always looking for something special. I may look for a chem 4 line male.

Timing of starting seeds and the size of the plants is a lot about how much soil space you have for your roots.
Looks like Mendo's on pace to fill up those 800's.
Looking good Mendo, have a great season.

Thanks GANJA your right!!
If i was doing smaller pots I would start later.
In the end the plants would finish healthier in smaller pots with a later start.

Your shit is looking good too!!!
You have some good shit lined up!!!
I need some of your starts!!!

It's pretty cheap to develop site soil in to something you can grow in.

It's indoor grower mentality to have gardens of 200-300 gallon LOL smart pots with potting soil from a bag...and grow more or advanced colored water..

It's like some one just took what they were doing inside under lights and just made it bigger or even pretty similar...I was doing 4x4 and 4x8 beds inside.

Anyway, I'm stoked on this year. Weather has been great so far...I have my last wave of seedlings to put outside today !!

Will expand on what you mean by site soil? I am curious about your set up.

Nice setup. If I had your room I would plant some African sativa's and grow a few trees :plant grow: Ace has some good one.

Good luck,
