and here's that bubba bho

if it's all pretty clear, barely any tiny bubbles, does that mean its all purged? its about 88 and BRIGHT out today, i just had the pyrex pan on a wooden table outside, nothing else above or under it... is that wrong?

got crazy root aphids... ordered some Merit 75 WP for everything. experiences?

Thats not good bro................some people say one or two apps of merit and you're good. But some people say they have tried everything and had to give up and start over.

I had them years ago and I got merit but never applied due to shutting down anyway at the end of a crop.

I would def attack them on multiple levels along with the merit.......and pay close attention to your medium to see how effective you are in the upcoming weeks.

Do you have flyers yet?

Are they crawling everywhere in your trays and shit too?

I went rounds with the root aphids recently and won the battle. Here are my suggestions:

1. Grab 4-5 of these bombs from your local hydro shop (sunlight supply dist. them). Set one off every three days religiously while doing the IMID treatments. They work very well for killing the flyers and also any babies unlucky enough to breath. Plants don't even notice these bombs though. Highly recommended for any pest generally found in the grow room. In fact I have yet to meet a bug these don't kill.

2. Get yourself and IMID containing product (Merit75, bayer tree & shrub, bayer advanced complete insect killer <--- this is what I used. I like it best because it also has cyfluthrin (contact killer) in it. Same stuff that makes those bombs so effective. Whichever IMID product you use apply at full strength on the label. Pretty sure it was 10ml per gal. for the complete insect killer I used. It's all documented in my redemption thread.

3. SATURATE, I mean drown them in that shit. Dunking each plant in a bucket full of IMID water is highly advised to ensure you get every single spec of media covered. Fail at that and they will come back.) Or water IMID in with alot of runoff through EVERY plant you have (from unrooted clone to ready to flower). Due to is persistance in the plant (systematic lasting up to 3 months), it is not safe to use this stuff in flower and really you shouldn't use it on anything but clones. That is however personal choice, IF you don't mind smoking pesticides it's not going to ruin the looks of your buds. Can't comment if it would alter the flavor as I cut back to clones, sterlized/treated everything, and started over no bugs. It is very important that you treat with the IMID twice (5-7 days apart), using the same rigorus dunking/drowning techinque mentioned above both times. Any extra media (bags of dirt, coco, hydrotron, etc.) you have lying around your room will also need to thrown out or treated with IMID at the same time as all the plants. I'd also suggest you vacuum your rooms very throughly before begining the treatment cycle. These are a growers worst nightmare, and nuclear war is the only way to win period. Met 52 is a great preventative measure to implement after you have wiped them out with the heavy chems. I can also recommend SM-90 as it kills them throughout their lifecycle also. It's another great preventative measure with alot of other benifits for your plants. Use it at 5ml per gal. clone through flush.

4. Now for the bad news. IMID has a negative effect on plants. Stunts there growth pretty bad for about a month (i'd guess about 40-50% slower growth), and can cause what looks like revegging growth (three finger leaves). After about a month they will return to normal. I came up with this strategy after reading everything I could find on these bugs. Havn't seen any signs of them for months now, so i'm sure they are gonzo .

Good luck with your battle. Just remember this war, take no prisoners...

Another treatment that has been working for me is root dunking your plants in atleast 40 C hot water...they'll never develop a immunity to hot water as they can to chemical treatments. I follow up with pyrethrum also to kill any leftovers from dunk but the hot water really knocks em.

Nice thread, keep up that good work!

Good luck, Peace

Your Bubba's look identical to mine. How do they smell at late flower and also after finished and dried?

You say you don't like the OG and will be scrapping it next run, how do you consider it's quality compared to the Bubba's?

Nice grow, I'll be lurking and good luck. You can always throw out that OG in my direction since I still have yet to own or grow one lol!

awesome, thanks for jumping in and sharing your experience and tips. i got the merit75wp just gotta figure out dosage... the label is very confusing. ill pickup the met52 when i knock em all out.

its gonna be a difficult battle, i know that... not excited about slowing down the already pretty slow bubbas vegging. and having a room at day 21 12/12 doesnt help either.

huh! imagine something like the AKC and UKC registrys but for strains... it'd be very cool to findout out cuts share a mother or something...

no idea how to describe the smell.. but one of its best traits is it needs almost no curing.. never any hay smell, only improves the smell/taste about 10% w/ a 2 month cure.

the bubba defintely produces higher potency, denser, larger buds. better quality and much higher yielder.

hope ya get those bugs 215!

Mister D - thanks for the pro tip

whatup mr CC! thanks for the support! hopefully the merit turns out to be the Eagle20 of aphids...

50 or so of em will go into this new room
picture.php

im thinkin 3 levels, 7 plants wide so 21 per side + some at the ends. 3gal coco + timed drippers.
might throw another light in thanks to this cool weather. 5kw vert + 50 plants would be nice.

this is the last run for this room. the upstairs is now the 5kw vert in my sig with coco and the downstairs (this room) will be turned into a 4kw something with the last 1kw flipping to a separate room for tests, flavors, etc.

...mono crop the big rooms with whatever the people want, then run a few different strains in the 1kw of what I WANT!
