79’ Skunk reversal…S1’s and crosses

Except the exact same "momma skunk" photo this person posted here and on thcf just so happens to be the same photo of the '79 FL Heirloom Skunk that Katsu got from FL and created S1 seeds.

No updates at all, just posted the same (stolen?) photos, and instantly crossed this long lost skunk with tons of strains. Not only watering down and possibly losing the long lost genetics that people have been searching 20+ years for, but switched the name to LD Skunk.

I'm not buying this story one bit.
so confusing!

Have no idea but what ever it is it grows nice looks nice and smells pretty dank. As I said not overly roadkill skunk but def funky skunky amonia. A smell from the late 70’s and early 80’s

Seems suspicious that someone comes here and expouses the Skunk ect, and then is gone, as fast as they came. Wont answer questions, yet have been on the site within a week, or so. Ive got 3 packs of the 79 S1, 2 packs of the 81 S1, and 2 packs of the 79 x 81s/Freebies. Plus Swamp Skunk seeds, and Foul Egg. I got the 79s, from Sunshine State directly.
Have you grown out the 79 s1’s from sunshine? I’ve never seen any grow logs from his, only katsus. I’m eager to pull the trigger on some packs but I just don’t know if there’s the same potential

In the early 80's I met the family of the guy that grew the Skunk Bud. They showed me a bunch of pictures of the plants. From what I recall your plants resemble his Skunks. BTW, the original Skunk Bud in the US was grown in a holler in West Virginia.

Here's my story -- https://www.icmag.com/threads/the-real-skunk-bud.18129480/
we got real deal road kill golfball style indica skunk in 1981, from northern California. Smoked it almost exclusively for 20 years it was so good. Not from WV.

79 skunk from Florida is not skunk bud!
So tired of folks saying they have something they don’t and marketing it as skunk bud.
It was decent but I didn’t keep it.
Basically I see it as another skunk scam to make money!
Hashmasta’s bc skunk x’s def carry some skunk smells and flavors

Katsu has 79 and 81, and also crossed them, I heard in the cross is some good stuff, gonna grow a few to see. I saw Reeferman recently claiming to have a new great skunk he made, he said he will give me cuts when he is in the area.

Brother, those growing the 79 sk and 81 sk and the x must not have ever seen smelled or tasted real skunk bud. I purchased the 79 for 400 from the guy that Katsu got his from. Not anywhere close to skunk bud! In fact it wasn’t even close to being exceptional pot. I didn’t keep it and consider it a total waist of time and space.

If reeferman says he’s got something skunky I would tend to believe him.
I loved some of his older work when he and I traded back in the early 2000’s. Kodiak gold was super nice sativa dom stanky tasty potent herb.
Hope it works out for you.

I’m working with an old Colorado heirloom that is skunk bud. Not exactly like what i grew and had in the 80’s but it’s def what we would call skunk bud. Excellent herb, better than anything I’ve seen since I had the real deal. I’ll be making a x with it and the shoreline cut in the coming months that should be super nice. I’ll keep you posted

I traded Katsu for glass, got a few packs of stuff, couple of 79 and one of 79x81.

Just grew my last THH and got a couple thousand seeds, one good female nice and strong, well seeded. Other girl is average.

Also not the oldest skunk ever reported brother, I hold the 81 FL skunk as well but my buddy Wick has the 79 and the 81 FL skunk plus an 80 SS. I passed this cut to Deezo, Flavor207, and Whiteashmatters, we all hold it tightly, No trades… All the real skunk comes from late 70’s early 80’s cuts…I’ll talk to you in the DM’s if you want or hit me up on Insta for the back story….
What is the point of posting a thread on IC if you don't want to talk anywhere but dms?

Just capitalizing on the skunk name. There have been many that have done this over the years. I’ve searched high and low, bought many seed lots and cuts said to be skunk bud but most always disappointed. I did find some old skunk flavors in the hashmasta kut beans , you can def tell a skunk bud was in the genetics.
The only real skunk bud I’ve found in over 20 + years of searching came to me as a gift and totally shocked me. Wasn’t told it was a skunk bud when I got them from the donor. No mention of skunk so I was super surprised and stoked when I grew them out.
Every female has the skunk flavor and extreme high. Taller ones had a slight bit of sweetness in them but not much.
The plants didn’t really get overly skunky until flower which is different from the old skunk I grew in the early to mid 80’s in socal. End product is extreme though and def skunk bud. Came to me just labeled as NEDERLAND. Original donor is an old hippy in boulder Colorado who has grown them since the 70’s. The Ned is def my fav seedline since I started searching for the skunk in the early 90’s. I’ve given some out to close trusted friends and will release some x’s with shoreline in the future but won’t release the pure into the cutthroat scene that exists in todays canna world. I could make a killing off them but to me it’s more about preserving an old heirloom thought lost. Last thing I want to see is it bastardized and stolen by ruthless wannabe seed hacks. Took way too long to find something that even touches the surface of the skunk bud of old. It’s not exactly the same as the old skunk bud but definitely is what we would have called skunk bud in the old days.
Mtn nectar my old friend I look forward to seeing what you think of them. I just started more of the original seed stock and have some of the new generation going as well. Will make another batch with multiple males and females as well as hit the shoreline cut with mixed pollen from all the males.
Good chit mang
I know this post is a bit redundant as I posted about it above in this same thread.

No worries my friend. I’m more than thankful for finally finding something after all these years. Glad to share with you we’ve been on this hunt for many years.!
On another note started a few of my xing of Maruf Afghan males x the Maui skunk dog cut. Neither is on the sweet side and a couple friends have grown some beautiful tasty Stoney plants out of them. We shall see!
