Boy did that video back then get me going.......havent heard much on the videos front since though. Here where i live relatives used to grow those golf balls of light green greasey flowers but i had it in the back of my mind the compost pile full of roadkill played a role in the plants thiols/esters and in nature some species of plants will get stressed and put off diff "processes" of threat (trying to find the right nomenclature i apologize) Truly convinced myself for a time that somehow the cannabis was accessing the broken down skunk thiols in the medium and using it as a threat pest prevention adaptation. well good on you for running it like you did and seeing what it presented in the end.

broken down skunk thiols

Broken down skunk thiol = prenol and hydrogen sulfide. You don't need dead animals for that experiment.

Prenol, released from alpha acids in hops..

..Combines with Hydrogen Sulfide provided by Cysteine in barely malt..

To form 321MBT, aka lightstruck flavor, aka Skunk.

You need a healthy properly fed plant with high levels of prenol (not isoprenol) and cysteine (not methionine, not glutathione, not elemental sulfur, not thiosulfate), and a propensity for prenylation.

Lots of strains give up -SH (from cysteine) to volatile production. Lots of breeders and smokers think this is skunk in itself apparently. That sulfur has to be connected to dimethyl alcohol, that's the whole point. I don't want low tide, or rotten eggs, or bad breath, or gas leak. I want Skunk. Breeding Skunk is as easy as taking those -SH strains and rubbing them all over prenol strains. You just need to know what prenol smells like.

What the hell is "fruity"? Apples? Oranges? That's like saying olives taste like supreme pizza. Prenol smells like prenol, not like [a] fruit(s)?)

My mentor insisted on ferments. For the fatty acids created by anaerobic bacteria? For the trace alcohol making the FAs soluble? For the chelating power of organic acids, or their carbon as an energy source for microbes? Yes, but also for the prenol.

The Cannabis industry won't mention prenol unless they are holding a panel with big pharma about further eradicating skunk (for obvious reasons if you are a covid or cancer or infectious disease researcher).

Breeding for lipids. Cannabis breeding of the future, present, and clandestine past.
