6X6 grow, is a 400w enough?

Hello folks.

I have just set up a 6x6 area for flowering. The space is has a 6x6 footprint which is slightly larger than my cab that was 42"wx32"dx48"H inside. I was able to train 6-8 plants nicely to stuff this cab with my 400W set up.

My question is will that 400W be enough, The side walls are sloped at a 30 degree angle and completely covered in mylar, I also have a 2' T5 fixture I could throw in there to add a tad more light. Am I pushing it here, or should I just go with a 600W/or maby another 400? I will flower when they hit 12" .

Thanks

Go with the 600 you won't be sorry you did.....yeild and light foot print is soo much bigger then a 400...I only wish I wouldve been so smart when I bought this fuckin 400 of mine. Shouldve gone bigger and didn't. Now the wife won't let me drop the loot on a new 6. Guess its time to get my balls outta her purse and just do it....lol. Hope this helps ya out. Peace and shine on.

Do you already have the 400w? As in the cost was already put out? If so then I would use that one.

That is a BIG area for a 400 BUT maybe a light mover OR rotate the girls to allow them all to enjoy being right under the light.

If you can afford a 600 then get that in there or if anything BOTH of them to equal the 1k. I think even a 600 is a bit light for that size space. I run a 600 in a 4x4 and still think I would do better with a 1k IF I can keep the temps down.

It would work, albeit not well. For optimal results do not venture lower than 50 watts per sq. ft. You have 36 sq. ft., therefore you should have at least 1800w for that area.

If you choose to grow in that area, buds under in the first 2.5x2.5 will be dank. The farther out, increasingly less so. (Airy, light, less potent buds)

Thanks gents.

I already have the 400 and was just kind of hoping I could make it work. I think I may upgrade to the 600, or just add another 400 to the mix, can't decide. Either way its mo $$$$

The up side is I know the harvest will be much better, now to get shopping.

Thanks again.

go with the 600.

2 600's would be perfect

What you should really do is get a 600 and add your 400 and mabe after a cycle or 2 you can get another 600

I have a 600hps digital from htg i think it was less than 200$ I've had it for 3 years now works like a charm.
