Rock on with the CFLs man, they treated me great. My first grow was AK48 with 210w of CFLs and I yielded 2.5oz. Grown inside a dresser. Ive since upgraded with a new cab build and a 400W HPS cooltubed but loved what the CFLs did for me. Cheers, -V420

Quick update:

That Alien Dawg Cherry is deadly potent with a high lasting about 4 1/2 hours. It actually gets somewhat annoying, cause its a hybrid high, which means you have a great positive "up" feeling but at the same time you're partially stupid and thus cant really go anywhere or get anything done except menial chores.

I chopped the Rascal's Fire OG Kush down this morning. From the lower trim we're expecting a lot of this girl. More on her in about 2 weeks.

Chocolope should come down in about 10-20 days depending on how well she continues to flower. Since the change of lighting setup, the plant has gone into flower for what almost looks like a second round.

I have also started to water with plain RO water at a ph of 5.8-6.2 on my "odd" watering days. My "even" watering days will still continue with my set nutrient standards:

Indica (sativas - add 2 weeks)
Wks 1-6
Botanicare Pro Bloom Soil - 20ml/gal
Botanicare Sweet - 20ml/gal
Botanicare Liquid Karma - 10ml/gal

Wks 7-9
Botanicare Pro Bloom Soil - 20ml/gal
Botanicare Sweet - 20ml/gal
Botanicare Liquid Karma - 10ml/gal
Botanicare Hydroplex - 4ml/gal

Wk 10
RO Water Flush

Those of you holding Schnozzberry are in for a real treat! I finally got to smoke her lower branches and I gotta tell ya, Im keeping her in the stable. She's too good not to. Grape Ape flavor with a slight tinge of og and sour diesel. Its more stupefying than my Fire OG but the high is remarkably similar - which would make sense, leaf patterning looks like grape ape, leaf style looks like fire og.

Humble, this shot is for you. My squarenobyl is getting huge, as you can see in the overall shot.

Heres one of the red haired branches of the G13, half of the plant is still growing like hell while the other half frosts over and turns bright purple.

Turns out I'm a liar. Or the Birdrock collective that sold this to me as LA Con are liars. Either way, this is NOT La Confidential. It IS however the most pure sativa looking thing I've ever grown and it smells like grapefruits and tangerines with a hint of bubblegum.

Chocolope is bitchin. Growing stronger now than it ever has!
100_2177.jpg

The whole flowering room, as you can see the lifesaver/durban is just getting ready to throw some pistils and I have GREATLY increased the size of my new additions to the flowering room. Time to see just how well I can make the CFLs yield.

Oh wow. See those are nuts - I would totally use them, but I initially did this as a "heres something ANYONE can setup" type grow. Also, the smaller CFLs are actually cheaper by the lumen - I bought the bulbs from Home Depot online and they sell 24 packs. Now that I've shown that literally anyone can grow with CFL.... Those things look cool as hell, might have to get a half dozen of them.

If you run the 200w CFLs, I would do one for every 2 square feet. You're running 9sqft, so figure 4 of them. Spread them evenly over the area, and if in doubt, buy a 5th for the center.

Well technically its not really a micro grow. Its a closet/tent setup with all CFL lighting.:tiphat:

CFLs are better. ;)

:thank you:

1) The reflector is ABSOLUTELY important! The light is emitted in 360 degrees away from the bulb, so on the side not facing the plants, a piece a mylar reflecting the light back towards the plants will only help you add lumens to the canopy.

2) Well, initially I did it with 23 watt CFLs from Home Depot because you can buy 24 packs for like 50 bucks. At 2 dollars a bulb it gets hard to beat $8.30 for every 100 watts of light. Another argument in favor of the smaller bulbs is the even spread of lumens. With 30 bulbs over a 36 x 36 inch area, theres a bulb for every 43 square inches of light, one light bulb for every 6.5 X 6.5 inch area.

3) Your plants look fine :comfort:

i also wonder about the reflector with cfls.

My thinking is this, if your lumens are rated at 12" (i think) & you get a significant degradation the further away you get a reflector isn't going to help much, you are going to lose a ton on the bounce & the added distance.

Unless you attach all the CFLs to a board covered in mylar, mount them horizontally to the board so it has the least overall depth possible. Then you're reflecting light off a bulb from 3/4 of an inch away.

Like..... this:

Bare bulbs will still work, but I mean come on, you're talking to a guy who has a white flood tray to reflect light, white plastic covers over the dirt in his pots to reflect light, totally reflective hood completely covering the canopy, and white walls. Light reflection is absolutely worth the time you put into it.
