5x9 Tent - What fan size?

Hey guys I'm trying to decide between a 6inch reflector/fan setup or an 8 inch. The first run i'll only be running 1k which I'm sure a 6in setup with scrubber attached could handle. It will be vented into an attic or crawlspace. I'll only have central air so no additional ac for cooling. However by the second run i'll be getting another 1k to fill the empty space and I feel as though a 8in would be better here. One of my concerns is 8in having to much suction for the tent?
Also by the second run I'll have the cash to get a second fan to run the scrubber seperate from the lights. I'd like to keep it aircooled but I can pick up an Ac if needed at that point.
Just this first run has to go right and needs adequate cooling with what I buy since i'm on a budget. Also I don't wanna have to buy 2 new reflectors/fan the second time around. Just looking for some insight I've read a ton, but you've got some people saying 6in is plenty to air cool up to 2k and then others saying you'll need 8 and an ac.

i use a stronger 6 inch for my 5x10 similar size tent.eco plus 6in supreme. check the thread in my sig for more info. i use one to vent the tent and one to vent the lights ( 3x600 )

You might find an 8" is enough for 2kw and the scrubber. ;)

If you're set on going to separately ventilated lights later, start with a 6" now and decide if you want to add a 6" or an 8" later. My one advice would be to get a bigger carbon filter now - don't get one just barely big enough for a 6" fan because it may (will likely) be too small later.

nameless- thanks for you input i'm checking out your thread now.

qupee- Are you saying if I was to go with 6in I should go ahead and get a 8inch filter?

Yes because if you upgrade to an 8" fan later it will move too much air through the filter compromising its ability to effectively remove odor. If you have any notion of upgrading within the next year get the filter now that can support it.

I aim for a filter with a CFM rating 50% higher than my fan, at least. The only downsides I'm aware of with a larger filter are larger size and more initial cost. Otherwise they should last longer, be more reliable (air in contact with more surface area of carbon and for longer times), and present less restriction to your fan.

Ok I gotcha, I didn't know if you had another reason to get a bigger filter from the start.

If the 6 can handle a 1k & filter then I don't have a problem going that route. By the 2nd run i'd just grab another reflector and let the 6 push through those and out the room. I'd then grab a 8in fan and filter to scrub with. I'd use the left over 6in filter to help with odors during drying. I guess me getting the 8in from the start is extra insurance that it'd be enough to cool the setup. I've only ever done small grows so I have no idea what to expect. I can read all I want but actually doing it is a different story.
