I have been following this since day 1, questioned the 80 zips mark the entire time, and now that its ending even though I dont think you hit your mark, you still provided one of the best (and most detailed) journals I have ever read.
very nice work, and I admire your organization......now lets hear that number.
Final Conclusions
3.2 is a long ways from 5 for sure. But I still count this grow as a win. I started this thread with many goals in mind. Actually achieving 5 was pretty far down the list.
But the Dream is Still Alive!
The 5 lb challenge is not just for me either! Let’s challenge what is possible, question the things that “everyone knows”, and share knowledge to advance the community as a whole.
So lets see it! I know there are many lurkers out there than can beat 3.2. It’s not as hard as you may think to document a grow. You don’t have to get as detailed as I have, just communicate plainly. The community will support quality threads. We just have to have to courage to create them.
What I learned
I got a lot of data about this plant that will make future runs better.
Not to do big experiments in the middle of a public grow.
I got useful in process help from several members and many useful, actionable improvements as well.
The ICMag community has enough quality “critical mass” to positively enhance the overall experience on the forum. We just have to foster and encourage it.
Other Notes:
I may have appeared to be a little rough on my ratings of this plant. The plant really is better, its just that these buds are not as good as the test run buds. I take responsibility for this letdown in quality. The heat damage really changed the nature of these buds. However I feel very lucky to have gotten what I did. A failure of this magnitude rarely recovers this well in aero. A big part of that recovery is due to the extreme vigor of this plant.
What’s Next?
There is so much room for improvement, I really can’t just let this rest. Like I said earlier, this plant is so good that I have another unit that will be dedicated to growing this plant in the new Galactic Grape bloom room annex.
So I’m going to take one more swing at it with everyone along for the ride. I’ll update this thread when its ready to start, and work on a list of improvements for the run.
For those interested in giving the aero flo a try:
I plan on hosting a grow-a-long for rookie Aero flo growers. Look for more details as Robert Fortune completes his DIY aero flo thread. I will personally support all participants to ensure the best possible results.
Final Thoughts
This has been quite the journey. I have learned more than I thought I would - both from the plants, and from members with helpful posts. My hope is that everyone found at least one useful thing that could be applied to their garden.
I thank you all for your attention in this long process. Your contributions and support to this thread made it easier for me to slog through some of the difficult times encountered.
As always, your questions and comments are welcome.
