What Goes Around Comes Around. But Am I Comming Or

Ok i got a ?. I see he has 20 bulbs and 5 ballast. So my basic math says hes running 4 light per ballast(im a genius hun). What i want to know is can i buy the simple 8.99 4 foot fixtures from home depot and rewire them to run 4 bulbs per ballast instead of two? THANKS

impressive...

impressive...

man those are frosty!

very nice work...

do they throw off much heat?

any noise coming from 4 ballasts?

i'm impressed! :lurk:

Thank for the comments everyone!

:joint:

smoke1sun - i dont think you can run 4 bulbs off a 2 bulb ballast from HD. dont quote me on that cuz im not totally sure.

sleepy - the fixture itself doesnt throw off much heat at the moment because i got a fan blowing down the length of the tubes. the buds and leaves can touch the bulbs without burning at the moment. but, before i had no fan and the whole in the arch was pretty hot...burnt a couple buds and some leaves.

with my 6 inch vortex, the whole room runs about 3 degrees above ambient temperature.

the 5 ballasts are completely silent.

Thanks for stopping in everybody!

THATS SWEET!... I never thought someone would replicate the MONSTER rack... you did it though and it rocks!.... im glad you worked out some of the problems i had with it... I've since cannibalized mine for some extra lighting out in the garage...makes me wish i hadn't... awesome job man! and look at all the positive comments... not many people involved in arguing over how you shouldn't use those lights either... beautiful...it wasn't always like that... PEACE

yeah....mad respect. I remember DubPhiend doing his flouro thing on OG, and being called everything from rookie to newbie, to someone that doesn't know shit about growing and lighting.....even with good looking results!
I love what you've done, and it seems to be paying off in nice buds, and I bet without a ton of heat. Happy growing!

Thank for the positive comments folks! Good to hear from ya Dubphiend!!

heres day 56 of 12/12:

all chemdawg d x sd ibl (chemdawg double d) shots. this shit is mega frosty!! I can not wait to smoke this shit!! please excuse the fact that most of the shots are out of focus.....my camera skills are weak.

to me this looks sd ibl dominant. the buds smell like rank lemon candy and are short and very chunky. i've on got one plant with the phenotype like it in this batch.

the rest of buds are all pretty similar and for the most part have a chemmy smell with very sweet overtone.

group chemdawg double d shot:

they're really starting to pack on the weight now.

Good show onthatlevel. Makes me nostalgic for the OG days. I have a bunch of Fulham Workhorse 8 ballasts that I've been meaning to do something with - you may have inspired me to pull them out of storage.

.....huh.....Well what can i say, the results speak for themselves!!! Nice job man.. That is impressive.

Ive been consitering doing the same type of setup with the t-5's(expensive). Like expensive, as in more then a couple of HID's. Seeing this done with T-8 makes me really wonder what is possible with the t-5's These are narrower bulb(pack them tighter) and throw off subtaintially more lumens per bulb.I also belive they are again more power efficient.

Here are a few plus sides to the T-5 bulb

60% energy savings over HID fixtures
Replaces 400 watt metal halide 1-for-1
Compare to metal halide lighting
Integrated circuit ballast uses only 190 watts

Compare to competing T5 fixtures!
BlueMax™ Color Technology Bulbs Included
96 CRI - the highest of any High Bay Fixture
Highest usable light of any high bay
Colors appear more vibrant and defined
5900k color temperature
SmartLite Technology™ for more savings!
No color shift
T6 hybrid lamp offers the durability of a T8 lamp with the high output of a T5 lamp & fits a standard T5 lamp holder
Suggested Lighting Levels - Click
Optional wire guards available

Here is a 6lamp version....so can you imagine what type of light you are getting with say....20 of these..

79% more usable light output than a 400w HID
40% energy savings over 400w HID fixtures

Suggested Lighting Levels - Click
Integrated circuit ballast uses only 280 watts

Compare to competing T5 fixtures!
BlueMax™ Color Technology Bulbs Included

Some really great photo's here. No doubt flouro's work. I personally love the lush growth that is obtained with the flouro. as well as the heat factor being lowered.

Hey DubPhiend, I to remember you from the OG day's and your "monster rack". If memory serves me correctly wasn't your rack 8 footers and multi-spectrum bulbs? That was a really cool setup if that is the one I am thinking of. Good job Onthatlevel. :joint:

onthatlevel - tubes are cool... low heat and low electric use....

Dubphiend also gave me the inspiration. I'm on my 3rd grow with floros..

I use the T-12, only cause i had stacks of them.. (pun intended) :muahaha:
