OD I usually either grow in just soil or coco, but gonna try mixing both together this year. Don't want straight coco and have to water everyday (been there done that, too much work at my location) Also have lots of different nutes and sups I wanna use up as soon as the plants need it. Just trying to make do with what I have laying around. Have to move everything outside unfortunately..
Here is my mix, about to blend it all up now for 6 of my way over vegged indoor coco plants, going into 10-15? gallon pots:
-About 15-20 gallons of old soil from last year + gallon of EW castings mixed in.
-One 3cu ft bag of roots 707.
-One 5kg block of coco gro, expanded and pre-charged with some NFTG demeter's destiny.
-One big 55qt bag of miracle grow organic choice (looks like mostly coir, with compost and blood meal, gnat eggs, and who knows what else lol)
-A few gallons of old grow stones, hydroton, lava rocks..
-A half cup of mosquito bits per pot
-roots organic oregonism xl sprinkled in during transplant.
Anyways I was planning on making lots of compost tea's with EWC, good compost, nettles, and top dressing with guano anytime it rains (although I will try to cover pots as it rains for a week sometimes), and also using up a lot of different nutes when the time comes. Basically all organic then transition to floranova bloom for flowering.
Was just wondering what range I should keep them in, i'm guessing they will deplete the mix within a months time, faster than new soil i'm sure.. I have a bunch of bottles of olympus ph up to use.
I usually grow dwc these days and have a simple recipe, and my cupboards are stocked with tons of stuff I would like to clear out.
Just trying to find the middle ground and wondering how you guys would treat this poor mans mix. Going to light dep 3 weeks before usual flower period starts.
Should I basically just ph to 6.5 at all times and use say 1/2 strength feeds, when they start getting hungry? I would never use straight water or even rain water in pure coco but not sure on a mix like this.
Thanks!
