5+ Years Smoking - Why does it give me headaches/anxiety now?

for me ive noticed i get headaches if i either smoke too much, dont inhale oxygen after every hit, take too large tokes, or hold it in for too long. i should probly get a vap but they really expensive. so small tokes out of the bong does me nicley. just took a nice rip and got that smooth irie feelin.

I used to get anxiety and headaches too. I quit "Holding" my hit, and I dont get smoking headaches anymore. As long as I stay away from sativas or really UP strains I don't get anxiety with smoking anymore. Go with a nice indica or indica dominant hybrid.

my thoughts are that cannabis is a psychedelic substance, an entheogen; so if one is to partake of it everyday, you have to know how to do that mentally as well. a good diet, excercise physically and mentally, all these things cannot be ignored when smoking all day long everyday, because if they are, they lead to problems because the herb is acting on you on levels you ignore, but these things still affects you, so one has to become conscious of these things and make the necessary studies and changes in order to find that good vibe you are looking for through the herb.

consider that recreational use of cannabis is different, but so is the frequency of intake and ammount as well, so the context is different. if one smokes everyday, specially from a very early age, now a lot of lets call them traumas will start to surface and they need to be dealt with, taking a long enough break from cannabis always helps in such situations, get some valeriam root or any natural anxiolytic to help you through withdrawals. eat well through this time, force yourself, once you start eating, your appetite opens up.
clear your head and then if you wish you, there's always more freshly grown herbs to try for sure.

Whats your sugar intake like man? I used to get the same problems and for me it was not eating(drinking) enough sugar, not sure if it will be the same for you but it worked for me. If you diet and smoke pot this will make you feel shitty. Eating good starchy foods should also help.

Dank1: I don't really see how taking in more sugar could help with anxiety... but I am pretty sure I get enough sugar anyways :)

PazVerdeRadical: Seems logical, I don't really exercise so I am going to see what I can do there, and if it helps.

Pink: Whenever i get around to growing I will definately choose an indica, and Im going to try holding my hits in less, thanks.

reefermadness69: I notice these same things but I think my headache is caused by something else because I don't hold my hit in longer than 5 seconds usually. And I always take deep breaths after. I have been considering a vape, gotta see what kind of presents I get this xmas first :)

I was talking about the headaches, sugar allways works for me but I think I may have low blood sugar.

Oh I understand now, sorry.

I went and picked up some vitamin C pills,they are 250mg, plan on taking 1 a day and see how it goes. I also plan on drinking 1 or 2 glasses of OJ a day. lol, seems weird...i dunno, i'll see if it works?

I also have some jaegermeister to help me cut back on bud, just took a couple shots :)

ezbake...please tell us if it works. This morning I had a small bowl of some norcal weed. It was definitely a hybrid. I felt really stimulated, but chilled... at the same time. I did a ton of stuff that I needed to do. But the rest of the day, I just felt like... I don't know... kinda spun out and burnt out a bit...

I don't think my body can handle Sativa anymore. I can't even handle caffeine really. I'm thinking now, that I may just have to smoke tobacco a bit instead of weed, at least until I can start growing pure indicas.

I don't mind the mind highs, but for me it makes it harder to deal with people and stuff. Its a given everytime I smoke. When I get around people I feel like they are trying to dive into my pscyhe or something. I feel like I'm way more open, and for some people thats cool...but the people I interacted with today I try to keep my distance emotionally... Neways, it was just uncomfortable. I could not just chill and have a conversation. I had to just keep moving... I was on a different page. I'm not sure if it was anxiety, but it didn't feel that great. I didn't mind smoking. Lol... I woke up and smoked near my little outdoor veggie garden, and then played guitar. It was like 9:30 AM and I was busting out songs... I felt so.... HIGH? lol...

So it was good. But damn. Its just hard to come down from that I guess.

Weed is definitely its own animal! If it wasn't, there wouldn't be such a cult following of it. Its definitely interesting... I'm not sure how I can incorporate it into my life. I like tobacco and alcohol, because its not so psychoactive to me... so it doens't trip me out as much. Thats why I want to try pure indica... becuase I think I'd really like the body high...without the mind trip! And if i can't rely on weed to be pure indica (at least until I start growing), I just have to lay low with it.

Ez - yeah i'm also drinking more myself! red wine for me. the person i live with is letting me drink out of his 100 dollar red wine bottle. have fun man.

ezbake, make sure you take TWO and take them as soon as you wake up and right before you go to bed.

Also, like I stated before, if you puff take it 30 min.- 1hr. before you smoke or vaporize.

This will make sure they get used VERY effeciently and do their job due to less stress the body is receiving.

Remember the whole point of doing this is to make sure that you can enjoy herb for all it's worth and with no negative effects. Peace.

I love smoking so I don't want to quit all together... but what would you guys suggest I do? I thought about smoking less per session, and having fewer sessions each day.

The people who've posted have given some pretty solid suggestions, try them out first. If nothing works, why don't you think of it in this angle?

1. Has your living environment changed (from the times you remember having a great flight stoned vs. nowadays)? Example: Lots of guys I know (including myself) have great smokeouts when they're in the rural areas, but when they move to the citys and start adopting to urban culture, the smokeout starts givin' 'em anxiety, headaches etc.

2. Are you doing a job/ studying a field you don't enjoy but are doing it because "you have to?"

3. Now, can you think of any aspect of ur life that you are not happy with? Whether it be something personal or something to do w/ your environment? OR something to do w/ ur profession?

I lived in the LA. I loved the place, the people and its culture. But for some reason, it just didn't click w/ me. The gf (though she arranged "Roman" parties for me), the work field (though I was seeing 6 digs in approx a quarter sometimes), and the entire "cosmopolitan scene" (though I had a kick ass flat and changed cars anytime I so pleased)...didn't click well w/ me, though from afar, many American friends would say "I envy you, you have the life" But that wasn't me, and I was pretty much experiencing the conditions you're describing.

I switched over my locale, reshuffled and reorganised my professional, personal life and now, I'm doing alot better. Maybe this is something you wanna think over, if the suggestions the guys gave you didn't work.

i been smoking for over 30 years now and i find after a wile i start getting very paranoid but when i get that way its time to take a break i am now in my second day with out weed other than may be a toke or two and i feel so much better now. i all so take a few mounts off of it just to clear my head and focus on the importet thing in life. sounds to me you need a break for a wile and all so helps to smoke some thing different from time to time.
