i have to ask, I have a Blumat kit sitting in it's box still and only reason I haven't set it up is..how do you get in that tight space and lollipop them plants? You can't pull them out or turn the pots.. gotta be a pain, no? How do you do it man?
You gotta keep after it and I designed some cool lst clips that worked well. I reset my blumats after every run because I mix in fresh compost and amendments into the top layer. It's a hassle for sure. If you leave slack in the rubber lines you can move the front two pots out of the way and stand in thr middle of the tent. Luckily I have a wall behind the tent I can lean on and balance myself while I prune. Hope this helps

I just got through reading your top-notch Living Soil run...K+

Very impressive results. The New Year looks bright, Have fun with all that rosin.

Peace
Thanks man I appreciate the kind words! Been alot of work to get here but man am I glad I stuck with it. My first run in this big bed was horrible, soil was too hot and not prepped right. I was gonna call it quits but my buddy TimJ suggested I mix in fresh peat moss and see if that would help. It Def made a difference cutting the soil. Now I'm on .y 6th run and I'm just starting to see issues with my soil being caked with worm castings. I'll be fixing the issue by scraping back the top layer and taking out some old base layer and mixing in with fresh compost, peatmoss and rice hulls. Only issue running a big bed is moving alot of soil around. I'm young enough still but in a few years I could see this being a other issue. Definitely loving the ease of growing multiple strains with no real feeding regimen. Cheers man and hope you have a happy new years

My late friend was big into living soils, he was a mentor and a great friend, he went around helping folks dial in their greenhouses and swore by these beds. Unfortunately he was battling depression and mental illness and took his life about 2 years ago. Most of our soil ideas come from old Clackamas coot. I'm familiar with Jeremy from build a soil he used to be over on grasscity. I also thoroughly enjoy the kis organics podcast....he brings a ton of top scientists and biologists, insect people etc. Tad is also another great dude out there helping folks build sustainable soils. Alot of giants out there we owe tribute to that we rode on the backs of for awhile....and nature we owe alot of it to the real workforce, nature. Cheers 🍻

No shit... those looked like photoperiods the way they grew out..dam...nice. I don't know what I got then, I'll have to get some Fastbud seeds :)
They were my first successful autoflowers I've never had that success before. I think it's partially because I was on my 6th run in this bed and the nutrients were well depleted from the previous grows, I went light with the topdressing and I hardly noticed my auto watering kicking on. The smaller pots did well other than one. Idk what the issue is with the back left pot in the tent but I'll be scrapping that soil and building fresh. Idk if I need to grow again for a minute tho lol but I really itching to pop more seeds 😅

Well I'm grateful that you are so willing to share this knowledge and your experiences with it. I have a 4x4 bed that I've been sitting on here (along with those Blumats) and am following along here to get some inspiration.

I got a quick question for you @jayr1787 do you keep the studs in the soil after you chop to decompose on their own or do you pull them out root ball and all? I saw a grower on youtube that leaves his behind and he just grows around each one on every grow. I meant to do that this go around but my transplant pot turned into a gallon size (repotted from a party cup), no way I can plant that to the side of a pot, PXL_20231224_051442363.jpg

I usually just pull the stem our a few weeks after harvest and they come right out easily most the roots stay behind. Especially if I keep my lights on half the day for warmth. Decomposition happens fast in these big beds.
