letting them sit in the dark is hocus pocus in my opnion you are just wasting 3-4 days you could be cleaning and replugging the room

I think the opposite might actually work better,I've noticed when I re-veg the trich production on the leftover buds is insane....

Plants ago e starch during day when lights are on. Plant burns starch during night (stored energy cuz no lights)

Starch smokes nasty. This is the only reason behind the dark period with any science behind it. Not saying other things couldn't be true, they just don't have any real evidence.

So basically, like starving a human so no extra fat.

When using a longer flowering strain (10 week Sour Diesel here) I have found that 24-60 hours of darkness and no H2O (ebb-flow style) and one week of flush it can finish up the pistil coloring and trich color. 13 hours of darkness form 12 hours in the last week also. The lack of watering made the plants a touch limp for trimming those long streatched branches. But everything else seemed fantastic. No odd wierdness of any lack of vigor. While chopping down I always cut a stem and try to "taste the sap". If plesant all good. If bitter or off at all then try a diffrent flush technique. Mine is:

Drain resivoir,
clean resivoir,
fill w/ph H2O and flushing agent of choice for 24 hours,
drain resivoir,
fill w/ph H2O,
let it run regular watering intervals for six more days,
then lights out and no H2O for 48 to 60 hours.
Then lights on and harvest.

you can do 24 hours off and then cut, its mostly to get rid of the chlorophyll but your gonna get rid of that during your 1 week dry period, and on top of that you will be curing (if you are) and to rid it of the rest. no one wants green chlorophyll in their oil production or other extracts also, get rid of that chlorophyll if your gonna sell that trim!!
