i have some friends who will be driving in on the friday.. parking is impossible in a'dam.. how is it in haarlem? are there neigbourhoods you can just leave a car for 2/3 days and jump on a train or is it tight too?

Just park your car in the Ajax Arena Park & Ride (Transferium) costs €5/day and you get Metro tickets for all passangers included.

Yeah man, at Haarlem Spaarnwoulde station (by the IKEA store) there is free P&R. Make sure you have change for the train ticket machine. You can go direction Amsterdam or Haarlem from there.

my mate lived on Spaarnwoulde Red for a year or so in the late 80's,
i stayed there for a month and spent most of the time in the poolhall and Teahus (cannot remember how to spell it) the little coffeeshop just off the square..

i remember that they have an amazing jazz festivle in the square, i cannot wait to see Haarlem again!!
