400W MH and a 600W ballast

I'm sure this is a no-no. I have a sealed hood installed for my 600W Hort HPS. Thought it would be great to simply switch out the HPS bulb with a MH for veg.

Don't think there's a 600W MH, and something else tells me this would not work. But I thought I'd ask.

If IC has been named the primary beneficiary on your life insurance, go for it. We could use the money.

Seriously though, screwing with electricity when you've no idea what you're doing can get people killed. Don't do it.

this.... and I don't know shit for shit when it comes to electricity but I do know that what you're suggesting is a :noway:

There are 600W HPS to MH conversion bulbs, that's what you want for this application. It is a MH bulb made to plug into an HPS ballast (and is the only way to get a 600W MH).

Interesting....

The spectrum looks weaker in blue than the standard MH

I already have the Eye Hortilux HPS with added blue. Trouble is it's not a lot of blue.

I've decided to stick with my fluoros for veg. The Hortilux folks make an amazing Blue MH and nothing but fluoros comes close. The conversion bulbs are hard to find in 600W and those that are out there have very spotty / spikey blue spectrums.
