swampy_nz - no blue bulbs. 8 bulbs (5x3000K, 3x6500K). The "blue bulbs" were probably mistaken for the blue lashing straps used to hold the T5s vertical. they are between the lights so no output is blocked.
Nice job, merrblah! I've been lurking for a while, but wanted to say I really enjoy watching as you "tinker" with your grow, probably because I like tinkering too. In the last two years, I've switched from a 150 to a 400 to 2 400s. Just last week I ordered a 600w electrical ballast/super sun 2 combo that I'll be stuffing in my tent. And don't get me started on growing media/methods. DWC, soil, hempy's, e/f, coco, and drip! All in less than 2 years! Tinkering is half the fun of it!
I also like your decision to keep a system that moves water. Drip to waste on coco has been great for me. Since I finishing the tinkering to get the lines installed and the timing right, I've never miss a watering--even when I've been out of town for 5 days.
You're set up for a great end to this grow. Respect.
Mole
smokeymacpot - so i liked the idea, but when i made the change, i was crowding out the colas on the left side of the tent as well as way too many leaves were touching the light. good idea though. if i had less plants in there I would make it happen, but things are jam packed
MoleMcHenry - welcome! I feel we both have similar approaches to growing when it comings to tinkering. there is always a better way and I am set on improving my situation. speaking of lighting changes...
---[A Short History, oldest first]---
1) 250w switchable HPS/MH
2) 250w HPS/MH + 400w HPS
3) 2 x 400w CMH
4) 2 x 400w CMH, 400w HPS
5) 150w HPS
6) 400w CMH
7) New Wave T5 28
8) New Wave T5 28, 150w HPS
All of that took place over a three year period. and i've always packed in many extra floros as space allowed. Digital 600s are in my future, when space permits.
Now let's not forget my tinkering extends to all areas: HVAC systems (lots of different fans, silencers), techniques (LST, SCROG, SOG), method (soil, organic soil, and now drip hydro), nutrients (too many changes to list), light cycles (VEG [24/0, 20/4, 18/6], FLOWER [12/12, 11/13]), and room constuction (hand-built several "cabs" and even a small room). The modern grower is a jack of all trades, and perhaps, that is why i enjoy the challenge so much.
I also enjoy the freedom that a well designed and automated system can bring. Even when I was growing in soil, I used automated drip irrigation to feed my plants. I have busy life and it is nice to know my girls will be just fine without me. One of my proudest moments in growing came when I was able to leave town for a whole month and when i returned everything was still perfectly healthy and on schedule
Anyways, enough rambling. Thank you for dropping a line! Welcome to my grow! and I hope you stick around for the finish! take it easy.
Wacky Tobacky - This will be my last grow for awhile, due to my living situation in the future. Otherwise, yeah, I would totally dust off the old lights and get a perpetual going. In time...
It's been nothing but staight RO water since the end of week 7 flowering. I've been checking the girls with the scope, and it came time for the first chop! (I like 25 amber/75 cloudy)
The first victim....
GH White Widow
This was the smaller pheno that hermi-ed earlier on, but has been all woman since.

---------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Week 8 Flower pics coming soon....
Chopping a plant gave me my first look at the roots (Normally they are all contained within the pots). Is everything cool here? Is this root rot or did my nutrient solution make them go brown?
This is my first run at hydro so these could be a stupid questions. The plants appear to be healthy so no complaints there. Any yellowing of leaves is from the flush. I am happy with the plant I harvested today, so even if it was root rot, it has had little impact, if any. Let me know....
Bravo!...Way to take care of business merrrrrr....Usually when roots are rotten they are slimy and give off the smell of potatoes IMO...Tough to tell from the pic whether they are just nute stained...Like you said, the smoke appears to be on point, so no worries...
MP
here some shots of the GH White Widow dried. I'm guessing about 1/2 oz from the plant's 5 main colas. Thankfully, it will be the smallest harvested this run. I also found 7 seeds on the lower branches, 4 of which were fully developed....
