gingerale - I am going to pull up a seat for this one!! Congrats on getting your 2nd grow off and running!! Have you thought about spreading your 4 lights around so they all cover a 5x5 area? I think you would get the most out of your space and lighting system if the entire room was getting even light distribution....anyway, keep us posted!!

I would scale down your plans a bit. No way you are going to fit 4 x 1000W HPS in a 10 x 10 area. Not without major headaches.

there are some who run 4kW over 5 trees very successfuly in 10x10' setups. they are not growing in tents tho.

also, w/ regular horizontal lighting 4kW over 100 ft2 is only 40 watts per square foot. doesn't seem excessive if lights will be ventilated.

his setup is definately 'doable' but probably not unless he has a bunch of other equipment that he hasn't showed us.

Cheap has been the word of the day for this grow BTW.

The tent, lights, fan, etc were expensive but I put up the money because I wanted to make things easier on myself when it comes to controlling the grow environment and hanging equipment, and also sleep better at night knowing my grow isn't going to burn down because some cheap ass Chinese ballast caught fire or something.

also, not trying to hate but you haven't discussed any electrical work/lighting controllers. you might want to do a bit of research in this area if you haven't already... if you don't like electrical fires that is.

Another ambitious rascal ~~~Good Luck~~~Hope you don't have any problems with that Fox Farm, Ive had a couple partners grow with it. Indicated it left a peculiar taste to their bud in the end.

hey i can't wait to see this get rolling. i'm just setting up a 4000w grow myself. i'm using a 8'x6' spot though. i always wanted to run a stadium style grow. i have a room that would be perfect for it. maybe i'll use one of my 1000's for a 5x5 stadium maybe a 400w too. geeze just when i thought i had everything figured out lol

IMO those plants are way to small to be that close to an HPS or even under an hps but its what you have obviously prob would move them away. It seems like some of the leaves are drooping so keep an eye on it.

I am going to agree and go one step further. I have found from personal experience that vegging with HPS tends to make plants stretch more than they would under a MH or florescent light. If that was my grow I would run out and buy like 2 or 3 of those 4ft florescent fixtures and some Cool white bulbs. Less heat, less electricity and you'll get more compact plants. You will also save the lifespan of the bulb for when it is actually being put to use. Much of that light is being wasted and converted into heat at the moment. You can also turn off your exhaust and save some more energy there as well.

The fact you bought a 10x10 tent and 4k worth of HPS you probably can afford to spend another $50-60 on the florescent fixtures.
